Personal problems of adolescent students of earthquake affected areas of District Baramulla Jammu and Kashmir with reference to academic achievement
The study was undertaken to study the personal problems of adolescent students of earthquake affected areas of District Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. The investigator took two hundred (200) adolescent students ( 100 male and 100 female) reading in 9th and 10th grades as sample for the study. Nadeem and Ahanger's (2001) Urdu Adaptation of California Test of Personality (CTP) for the measurement of personal problems was administered. The analysis of the data revealed that the male adolescent students of earthquake affected areas and female adolescent students of earthquake affected areas of Uri (District Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir) differ from each other on certain dimensions of personal adjustment like self reliance, sense of personal worth, feeling of belongingness, withdrawing tendencies and nervous symptoms. It was found that female adolescent students were personally well adjusted than male adolescent students of earthquake affected areas of Uri(District Baramulla).Correlation between various dimensions of personal adjustment and academic achievement of male and female adolescent students were found positive and significant. Key words: Personal problems, Adolescent students, Earthquake affected areas, Academic achievemen

Teaching Aptitude of Elementary and Secondary Level Teacher Educators
The study was conducted to study the teaching aptitude of elementary and secondary teacher educators of Kashmir division. The sample for the present study was 300 including 150 elementary teacher educators and 150 secondary teacher educators by using simple random sampling technique. For the measurement of teaching aptitude of elementary and secondary level teacher educators, Shamim Karim and A.K. Dixit‘s teaching aptitude test battery was used. It was found that elementary teacher educators have more teaching aptitude as compared to secondary teacher educators on total score of teaching aptitude test battery. Among the eight dimensions, six dimensions were showing significant difference on teaching aptitude of elementary and secondary teacher educators. Keywords: Teaching aptitude, Elementary teacher educators, Secondary teacher educator
Depression among adolescents of Kashmir division in relation to sex and residence dichotomy, J& k India
The study was undertaken to know the depression level among adolescents of Kashmir division in relation to sex and rural/urban dichotomy. The sample for the study was 600 adolescents of Kashmir division by using random sampling technique. For the measurement of depression among adolescents, a self-report scale developed by the centre for epidemiologic studies of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) was used (Seligman19930). The analysis of the data showed that there was no significant difference between rural and urban adolescents on depression while it was found that male and female adolescents shows a significant difference on depression. Depression among female was found higher than that of male due to the reason that they feel insecurity in terms of status, power etc. Key words: Depression, Adolescents, Male, Female, Rural, Urba
The readiness of systems engineering at a South African engineering organisation
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore and gain a broad perspective on the systems engineering methods currently employed at a South African research council. The aim is to question if these methods are ideal by comparing them with their alternatives. This paper focuses on the systems engineering methods used within the various competency areas of one of the engineering business units. The suitability of these methods for the nature of work being done in the respective competency areas is also explored. Systems Engineering Management Base Theory (SEMBASE) is used as a framework to find the gaps in each competency area and conclude possible ways of improvement thereof. A qualitative research method is used for this study. The data and information received from the interviews are analysed for emerging patterns that will confirm the theory. The findings show that the competency area focusing on Systems Engineering and Enterprise Architecture is adequately aware of the systems engineering processes and is well-equipped with its tools. The research also reveals that the Technical Competency Areas are not always aware of all the systems engineering processes and lack certain systems engineering tools. Some competency areas are indirectly using Systems Engineering but are unaware of it. More training and awareness is required to fill these gaps amongst the Technical Competency Areas
An Embedded Auto-Calibrated Offset Current Compensation Technique for PPG/fNIRS System
Usually, the current generated by the photodiode proportional to the
oxygenated blood in the photoplethysmography (PPG) and functional infrared
spectroscopy (fNIRS) based recording systems is small as compared to the
offset-current. The offset current is the combination of the dark current of
the photodiode, the current due to ambient light, and the current due to the
reflected light from fat and skull . The relatively large value of the offset
current limits the amplification of the signal current and affects the overall
performance of the PPG/fNIRS recording systems. In this paper, we present a
mixed-signal auto-calibrated offset current compensation technique for PPG and
fNIRS recording systems. The system auto-calibrates the offset current,
compensates using a dual discrete loop technique, and amplifies the signal
current. Thanks to the amplification, the system provides better sensitivity. A
prototype of the system is built and tested for PPG signal recording. The
prototype is developed for a 3.3 V single supply. The results show that the
proposed system is able to effectively compensate for the offset current
