Chronic cervicitis: role of adult autologus stem cells
Background: Stem cells are biological cells found in all multi-cellular organisms and capable to differentiate into diverse specialized cell types and self-renew to produce more stem cells. Stem cells act as immuno-modulatory, angiogenetic, cell repairing and cell protecting agents. They also have strong anti-inflammatory effect due to paracrine action of trophic factors release. Chronic cervicitis is very common disease of adult women worldwide, chronic infection and inflammation of the cervix is hard to cure with high recurrence rate leading to long term consequences like pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, increased predisposition to HPV and HIV infection and even can be a precursor of cervical cancer. Methods: To show the therapeutic and symptomatic benefits of these cells in chronic cervicitis we injected 10 patients with adult autologus stem cells (AASCs) locally in the cervix, and PRP, growth factors IV. All the cells were harvested from bone marrow after bone marrow aspiration. Results: Clinical benefits were evident on follow up visits in the entire treated patient. All the patient had shown improvement in symptoms like continuous malodourous discharge, dyspariunea, pelvic pain and pressure, backache, itching and burning, post coital bleeding. Conclusions: Present study have shown that AASCs and growth factors is a safe effective ethical and viable option not only to cure the disease but also in improving the quality of life of a woman and protecting her from its significant consequences
Geriatrics and Periodontics: A Review
Oral health is an important aspect of general well being and in the elderly population compromised oral care has been considered a major risk factor for various health problems. Hence oral-systemic diseases linkage is a special health concern for this elderly population and high quality of oral health care should be available to all regardless of age or circumstances
To Assess the Level of IgG among Smokers: A Clinical Comparative Study
BACKGROUND: Immunoglobulins shows a significant increase especially among smokers and gutka chewers.AIM: The present study aimed at estimation of immunoglobulins in smokers.MATERIALS & METHODS: The present study was conducted on 80 subjects and divided into two groups A and B where serum level was estimated by automated Nephelometry method.RESULTS: The mean level of IgG was 11.34 in group A and 5.89 in group B which was statsically significant (P< 0.05).CONCLUSION: The raised level of IgG in smokers as compared to control increase the possibility of detecting the lesions at early stages and act as alarming approach for many of the dentists
Sclerotheraphy of Superficial Intraoral Hemangioma: A Case Report with Reviews
Hemangiomas are common benign neoplasm due to proliferation of blood vessels. The treatment modalities of Hemangioma are varied from Intralesional and systemic corticosteroid treatment to surgical excision, thermocauterization, laser photocoagulation and sclerotherapy. However, each treatment has its own risks and benefits. Use of sclerosing solution is the most convenient, effective and inexpensive treatment modalities especially in oral and peri-oral hemangioma lesions. Here presenting a case report of right upper lip Hemangioma successfully treated with multiple local injections of 3% sodium tetradecyl solution with their prognosis
Bizarre Radiographic Finding of Intraoral Neurofibroma: A Case Report
Neurofibroma(NF) is one of the common well known autosomal dominant inheritable entity with a prevalence of one per 3000 people. Clinically, there are two types of NF:NF 1 with 90% occurrence along with 7 subtypes and NF2. It is a genetic disorder and benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor. It has a neural origin with presence of café –au-lait spots along with multiple nodules over the skin and all over the body. It might be associated with bone malformation and sometimes the central nervous systems is also involved. Diagnosis of neurofibroma is based on clinical criteria. The frequency of oral manifestations is debated in the literature. Some authors report a frequency of 4-7% of cases, whereas others suggest that these manifestations are present in up to 72% of cases. Here the purpose of this case report is to review the disease with intraoral clinical and radiological findings found in a patient having a bizzare radiographic finding of Intraoral Neurofibroma (NF)
CHOCOLATE FORMULATION AS DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR PEDIATRICS
Chocolate is highly sophisticated and infinitely a versatile food that can be combined to create completely different taste and texture sensations. The objective of the present study is to develop a palatable chocolate formulation of Domperidone and Cetirizine for pediatric administration and to increase patient’s desire to consume the medication. In present investigation chocolate base is prepared by use of cocoa powder, coco butter, lecithin, and pharmaceutical grade sugar. Thereafter drug is incorporated to prepared chocolate base. The medicated chocolate prepared is evaluated for appearance, moisture content determination using digital Karl Fischer titrator, blooming test, drug content determination & drug excipient interaction by differential scanning calorimetry.Key words: Medicated Chocolate, Pediatrics, Chocolate formulatio
