Alkaline Phosphatase: Different Method for Immobilization

    Get PDF
Enzyme immobilization is an important Technique to improve enzyme properties and stability. Immobilized protein increases reuse of enzyme in numerous cycles, thermal stability and periode time of activity of enzyme. Untile now, several research have focused on alkaline phosphatase immobilization. Alkaline phosphatase (ALp) is a hydrolase enzyme which removes phosphate groups from many kinds of molecules and degrades inorganic pyro phosphate (ppi) to inorganic phosphate. These reactions are valuable in research and so is main concern in enzyme engineering. Accordingly, this mini review concentrate exclusively on different method of alkaline phosphatase immobilization

In Management Education in India: Perspectives and Practices, editors Manish Thakur and Rajesh R. Babu bring together contributors to analyse the development of business and management education in India in the context of the nations’s recent social, political and economic transformations. The volume offers a good overview of the role played by Indian business and management schools, finds Maziar Jafary, and also reveals how dominant discourses continue to shape institutions of higher learning across the country

Investigating the role of parental stress of mothers in predicting academic and social adjustment of students with learning disabilities

Background: Parental stress and coping style in the face of life stresses have a long-term effect on the behavior, performance and personality of the child. The aim of this article is to investigate the role of parental stress of mothers in predicting academic and social adjustment of students with learning disabilities. Methods: The present applied research is a descriptive-correlational study. Statistical population of the study included all mothers of children with learning disabilities, received services from government learning disability centers in Mashhad in the winter of 2019 (330 people).  Based on the Morgan's table, 181 people were selected using a convenience sampling method. The Aydin (1983) Parental Stress Scale and the Sinha and Singh Student Adjustment Scale (1993) were used to collect data. Cronbach's alpha coefficients for all variables and components of the study were greater than 0.7, so the reliability of the research questionnaires is acceptable. Data were analyzed by regression coefficient test using SPSS-22 software. Results: 0.09 of the changes in the level of academic adjustment and 0.06 of the changes in the level of social adjustment of students with learning disabilities were affected by the variable of parental stress of mothers. Conclusion: To improve and enhance the academic and social adjustments of students with learning disabilities, it is necessary to pay attention to mental health, stress status and the styles used by parents, especially mothers, in coping with stressful situations

Advancing Understanding of the Relationship Between Tropical Cyclogenesis and Precipitation in A High-Resolution Model

This study evaluates the relationship between tropical cyclone (TC) genesis, also known as tropical cyclogenesis, and precipitation in forecasts produced by the Basin-scale Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting (HWRF-B) model. Pre-TC (PTC) forecasts from HWRF-B were produced during the 2017-2020 hurricane seasons in the North Atlantic and eastern North Pacific. In PTC forecasts, various precipitation characteristics, including rate, and coverage, were compared for different forecast outcomes of signal detection: hits, misses, false alarms, and correct rejections. Moreover, differences in radar reflectivity, mid-tropospheric moisture, and vertical wind shear (VWS) were studied and compared for developing (i.e., underwent cyclogenesis) and non-developing PTCs. In particular, we focused on comparisons between hits and false alarms (i.e., developing PTC forecasts), as well as between misses and correct negatives (i.e., non-developing PTC forecasts), to distinguish one forecast outcome from the other. In other words, the goal is to determine if developing and non-developing PTC forecasts are accurate based on precipitation, moisture, and wind shear. The result from this study indicates that the developing cases had greater maximum precipitation rates as well as a larger area coverage of higher precipitation rates at most lead/lag times. Further, VWS results revealed that non-developing disturbances also experienced weak upper-level flow. Together, these results indicate that thermodynamic properties play an important role in determining the evolution of disturbances in the North Atlantic basin

Shale gas prospectivity studies in the Perth Basin, Western Australia

    Get PDF
The Early Permian Carynginia Formation and the Late Triassic Kockatea Shale are prospective shale gas resources in the Perth Basin. Various geological studies such as visual core description and petrography were conducted to understand about the lithofacies and depositional environments in the target formations. Key geochemical parameters such as TOC, thermal maturity and RHP were identified through rock-eval pyrolysis. Petrophysical studies were applied in detecting organic richness and fracability of the under-study shale plays

The incidental episode of ventricular fibrillation: a case report

    Get PDF
Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (VF) carry important prognostic implications, especially in the post myocardial infarction period. However, artifact on the electrocardiographic tracing can mimic VF particularly on routinely recorded rhythm strips in hospitals. Such misinterpretation can lead to expensive (and potentially risky) diagnostic and therapeutic steps. We report on such a case and highlight the need for careful inspection of the tracing

A review on preventive measures and treatment of white spot lesions in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances

    Get PDF
Objective: One complication of fixed orthodontic treatment in patients with poor oral hygiene is development of demineralized enamel lesions compromising esthetics. This study aimed to review preventive measures and treatment of white spot lesions (WSLs) in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances.Review of Literature: In this review study, PubMed and Google Scholar databases were searched for articles published during 1964-2013 using the keywords “white spot lesions”, “demineralization”, “mastic gum”, “casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate or CPP-ACP”, “chitosan” and “orthodontics”; 96 articles were evaluated. Conclusion: White spot lesions can be prevented by conventional plaque control and adjunct measures such as the use of fluoride-containing compounds, chlorhexidine (CHX), xylitol gums, chitosan compounds and laser. Low-concentration fluoride, CPP-ACP compounds and laser help remineralize these lesions. If not treated, bleaching, microabrasion and tooth restoration are the final solutions

Prosthetic valve thrombosis despite seemingly-adequate anticoagulation: the dangers of transient lapses in anticoagulation

We report a 19-year-old woman with thrombosis of a prosthetic mitral valve that was most likely due to a short dip in anticoagulation in the days preceding the event. Interestingly, at presentation the Patient was super-therapeutic, most likely a result of hepatic congestion as the heart began to fail, creating an illusion of thrombosis despite adequate anti coagulation
