Study of the interaction genotypes x environments in the selection process of upland rice.
The objectives of this study were the investigation of the interactions between upland rice lines/cultivars x planting system, years and locations. The experiments were conducted in the agricultural years of 2001/02 and 2002/03 in Lavras, Uberlandia and Patrocinio in the state of Minas Gerais (MG), Brazil, in two planting systems: conventional and no-tillage. The treatments were 20 lines/cultivars and the evaluated traits were: plant height, flowering date, grain yield and disease incidence. The absence genotype x system interaction of grain yield indicated that cultivars recommended for sowing traditional can be utilized in the no-tillage system. The interactions genotypes x locations and genotypes x years were significant. The Cruz methodology indicated that cultivar Caiapo presented adaptation in unfavourable environments and the line CNAs 8983 showed response in the environment improvement. Asian soybean rust: modeling the impact on soybean grain yield in the Triângulo Mineiro / Alto Paranaíba Region, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Understanding the impact of Asian soybean rust on soybean yield is of great importance in the crop simulation model for this crop become it is possible to predict yield using different sowing dates and growth conditions. The goal of this study were to evaluate the performance of two soybean cultivars in Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, MG, Brazil and the effects of soybean rust on the yield of these cultivars using the CSM-CROPGRO Soybean model. Two soybean cultivars NK 7074 (early) and UFUS-Impacta (medium late), which differ in their development cycles, were growing in Uberaba city during the 2009/2010 growing season. The validation for cultivar UFUS-Impacta was conducted comparing the measured and simulated yield data considering three different sowing dates in the Uberlândia city during the 2002/2003 growing season. Daily meteorological data obtained from six meteorological stations of the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET ). To determine the performance of the soybean cultivars and the effect of soybean rust on yield, three different scenarios were used: no occurrence of rust (NOR) and occurrence of rust with inoculum concentrations of U5.000 and U10.000 urediniospores/mL. For all environments studied, the early cultivar had the best performance than the medium late cultivar. Soybean rust had the most effect on yield for the U10.000 scenario than for the U5.000 scenario. The best soybean performance occurred for Araxá and Uberaba cities. The South-Southeast area of the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba region was the most sensitive to the effect of rust on yield compared to the North region
Desempenho de famílias e híbridos comerciais de tomateiro para processamento industrial com irrigação por gotejamento.
Foram avaliadas e selecionadas as famílias provenientes do programa de melhoramento do tomateiro da UFU, com potencial para processamento industrial e comparados seus desempenhos com os híbridos mais utilizados pelos produtores na região de Patos de Minas. O ensaio foi conduzido na EE Fazenda Barreiro da Unilever Bestfoods Brasil, em Patos de Minas. Utilizaram-se 30 famílias de tomateiro e os híbridos Heinz 9553, Heinz 7155N2 e Hypeel 108. As Parcelas constituíram-se de linhas duplas espaçadas 0,5 m entre si, com 10 m de comprimento, irrigadas por gotejamento. O espaçamento entre as linhas duplas foi de 1,3 m e a população de 27 mil plantas por hectare. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. A semeadura foi realizada em 19/05/01. O rendimento de polpa mostrou correlações fenotípicas e genotípicas positivas com a produção total, produção de frutos comerciais, % de sólidos solúveis totais, coloração do suco, número de frutos maduros por planta e pH e negativa com acidez total titulável.
