The quadratic spinor Lagrangian is equivalent to the teleparallel theory
The quadratic spinor Lagrangian is shown to be equivalent to the teleparallel
/ tetrad representation of Einstein's theory. An important consequence is that
the energy-momentum density obtained from this quadratic spinor Lagrangian is
essentially the same as the ``tensor'' proposed by Moller in 1961.Comment: 10 pages, RevTe
Quasi-local Energy for Spherically Symmetric Spacetimes
We present two complementary approaches for determining the reference for the
covariant Hamiltonian boundary term quasi-local energy and test them on
spherically symmetric spacetimes. On the one hand, we isometrically match the
2-surface and extremize the energy. This can be done in two ways, which we call
programs I (without constraint) and II (with additional constraints). On the
other hand, we match the orthonormal 4-frames of the dynamic and the reference
spacetimes. Then, if we further specify the observer by requiring the reference
displacement to be the timelike Killing vector of the reference, the result is
the same as program I, and the energy can be positive, zero, or even negative.
If, instead, we require that the Lie derivatives of the two-area along the
displacement vector in both the dynamic and reference spacetimes to be the
same, the result is the same as program II, and it satisfies the usual
criteria: the energies are non-negative and vanish only for Minkowski (or
anti-de Sitter) spacetime.Comment: 16 pages, no figure
Gravitational Energy of Kerr and Kerr Anti-de Sitter Space-times in the Teleparallel Geometry
In the context of the Hamiltonian formulation of the teleparallel equivalent
of general relativity we compute the gravitational energy of Kerr and Kerr
Anti-de Sitter (Kerr-AdS) space-times. The present calculation is carried out
by means of an expression for the energy of the gravitational field that
naturally arises from the integral form of the constraint equations of the
formalism. In each case, the energy is exactly computed for finite and
arbitrary spacelike two-spheres, without any restriction on the metric
parameters. In particular, we evaluate the energy at the outer event horizon of
the black holes.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure, to appear in JHEP11(2003)00
Symmetric Hyperbolic System in the Self-dual Teleparallel Gravity
In order to discuss the well-posed initial value formulation of the
teleparallel gravity and apply it to numerical relativity a symmetric
hyperbolic system in the self-dual teleparallel gravity which is equivalent to
the Ashtekar formulation is posed. This system is different from the ones in
other works by that the reality condition of the spatial metric is included in
the symmetric hyperbolicity and then is no longer an independent condition. In
addition the constraint equations of this system are rather simpler than the
ones in other works.Comment: 8 pages, no figure
Negative Energy in String Theory and Cosmic Censorship Violation
We find asymptotically anti de Sitter solutions in N=8 supergravity which
have negative total energy. This is possible since the boundary conditions
required for the positive energy theorem are stronger than those required for
finite mass (and allowed by string theory). But stability of the anti de Sitter
vacuum is still ensured by the positivity of a modified energy, which includes
an extra surface term. Some of the negative energy solutions describe classical
evolution of nonsingular initial data to naked singularities. Since there is an
open set of such solutions, cosmic censorship is violated generically in
supergravity. Using the dual field theory description, we argue that these
naked singularities will be resolved in the full string theory.Comment: 23 pages, 2 figures, v2: argument for forming naked singularities

Matrix theory of gravitation
A new classical theory of gravitation within the framework of general
relativity is presented. It is based on a matrix formulation of
four-dimensional Riemann-spaces and uses no artificial fields or adjustable
parameters. The geometrical stress-energy tensor is derived from a matrix-trace
Lagrangian, which is not equivalent to the curvature scalar R. To enable a
direct comparison with the Einstein-theory a tetrad formalism is utilized,
which shows similarities to teleparallel gravitation theories, but uses complex
tetrads. Matrix theory might solve a 27-year-old, fundamental problem of those
theories (sec. 4.1). For the standard test cases (PPN scheme,
Schwarzschild-solution) no differences to the Einstein-theory are found.
However, the matrix theory exhibits novel, interesting vacuum solutions.Comment: 24 page
Research of Gravitation in Flat Minkowski Space
In this paper it is introduced and studied an alternative theory of
gravitation in flat Minkowski space. Using an antisymmetric tensor, which is
analogous to the tensor of electromagnetic field, a non-linear connection is
introduced. It is very convenient for studying the perihelion/periastron shift,
deflection of the light rays near the Sun and the frame dragging together with
geodetic precession, i.e. effects where angles are involved. Although the
corresponding results are obtained in rather different way, they are the same
as in the General Relativity. The results about the barycenter of two bodies
are also the same as in the General Relativity. Comparing the derived equations
of motion for the -body problem with the Einstein-Infeld-Hoffmann equations,
it is found that they differ from the EIH equations by Lorentz invariant terms
of order .Comment: 28 page
Teleparallel Versions of Friedmann and Lewis-Papapetrou Spacetimes
This paper is devoted to investigate the teleparallel versions of the
Friedmann models as well as the Lewis-Papapetrou solution. We obtain the tetrad
and the torsion fields for both the spacetimes. It is shown that the
axial-vector vanishes for the Friedmann models. We discuss the different
possibilities of the axial-vector depending on the arbitrary functions
and in the Lewis-Papapetrou metric. The vector related with spin has
also been evaluated.Comment: 13 pages, accepted for publication in GR
Energy-Momentum Localization for a Space-Time Geometry Exterior to a Black Hole in the Brane World
In general relativity one of the most fundamental issues consists in defining
a generally acceptable definition for the energy-momentum density. As a
consequence, many coordinate-dependent definitions have been presented, whereby
some of them utilize appropriate energy-momentum complexes. We investigate the
energy-momentum distribution for a metric exterior to a spherically symmetric
black hole in the brane world by applying the Landau-Lifshitz and Weinberg
prescriptions. In both the aforesaid prescriptions, the energy thus obtained
depends on the radial coordinate, the mass of the black hole and a parameter
, while all the momenta are found to be zero. It is shown that for
a special value of the parameter , the Schwarzschild space-time
geometry is recovered. Some particular and limiting cases are also discussed.Comment: 10 pages, sections 1 and 3 slightly modified, references modified and

FERMION ZERO MODES AND BLACK-HOLE HYPERMULTIPLETS WITH RIGID SUPERSYMMETRY
The gravitini zero modes riding on top of the extreme Reissner-Nordstrom
black-hole solution of N=2 supergravity are shown to be normalizable. The
gravitini and dilatini zero modes of axion-dilaton extreme black-hole solutions
of N=4 supergravity are also given and found to have finite norms. These norms
are duality invariant. The finiteness and positivity of the norms in both cases
are found to be correlated with the Witten-Israel-Nester construction; however,
we have replaced the Witten condition by the pure-spin-3/2 constraint on the
gravitini. We compare our calculation of the norms with the calculations which
provide the moduli space metric for extreme black holes.
The action of the N=2 hypermultiplet with an off-shell central charge
describes the solitons of N=2 supergravity. This action, in the
Majumdar-Papapetrou multi-black-hole background, is shown to be N=2 rigidly
supersymmetric.Comment: 18 pages, LaTe
