An analogue twin for piezoelectric vibration damping of multiple nonlinear resonances

peer reviewedThe objective of this study is to extend the concept of analogous piezoelectric networks to vibration mitigation of multiple nonlinear resonances. First, the undamped linear part of the electrical network is designed so as to possess similar modal characteristics as those of the underlying linear mechanical structure. Then, nonlinear electrical components possessing the same mathematical form as that of the mechanical nonlinearities are added to the network. Because both modal and nonlinear analogies are enforced, the electrical network can be seen as an analogue twin of the mechanical structure. When the network is coupled to the structure via an array of piezoelectric elements, it is shown numerically and experimentally that such an analogue twin offers important benefits for vibration mitigation over a broad range of frequencies and excitation amplitudes. © 2021 Elsevier Lt

The main explanation lies in the beef meat feed grains price ratios which are quite different.

National audienceAnimal food chains are representations of the complex systems that produce the supply of animal products for consumers. Their analysis is useful in order to understand the important changes that affect the different zones of livestock farming, the way animal products are produced and the valorisation of these products. These food chains require considering the evolutions of the final demand of animal products, the way to take into consideration the coordination of successive technical operations and the governing forms. It gives a relevant framework for the understanding of the strategies of animal production firms. It is very stimulating to examine how animal food chains work in the French or European contexts, as well as throughout the world. This exercise is relevant for the analysis of the relations between the overall society and the sector of animal production. It is a good way to identify the main stakes related to the redistribution of animal production throughout the world, and to understand how innovation works. For all these reasons, research institutions need to consider attentively the evolutions concerning animal food chains and the strategies of their companies and other agents.Les filières sont des représentations des systèmes complexes qui conduisent à l’offre de produits animaux aux consommateurs. Leur analyse permet de rendre compte de mouvements profonds affectant les bassins d’élevage, les manières de produire et de valoriser les productions. Elle exige de prendre en compte les évolutions de la demande finale en produits animaux, les manières d’articuler des successions d’opérations techniques et les formes de gouvernance, et offre un cadre efficace pour la compréhension de la stratégie des firmes. Un regard attentif sur le fonctionnement des filières animales dans les contextes français et européen, comme à l’échelle du monde, est extrêmement questionnant. Il se révèle pertinent pour réexaminer et traiter les rapports entre l’élevage et la société. Il est stimulant pour identifier les grands enjeux liés à la redistribution des zones d’élevage à travers le monde, et pour évaluer le rôle propre et essentiel qu’y joue l’innovation sous toutes ses formes. Pour toutes ces raisons, la prise en compte des évolutions des filières animales et des stratégies qui y sont à l’œuvre est nécessaire aux institutions de recherche, et de nature à solliciter la créativité des chercheurs
