Representing young people's sexuality in the 'youth' media
This paper reports findings from a content analysis of the main messages about sexuality in media outlets consumed by young people. It examines how sexuality is represented and the level of sexual health information provided in some UK magazines and TV programmes targeted at young people. Our findings show that such outlets included a vast range of useful discussion including information about health concerns and in-depth exploration of issues such as consent and examples of couples exploring whether or not they were âreadyâ for sex. In particular, the right of girls to âsay noâ was vividly fore-grounded in several teen dramas and magazines. However, coverage was also characterized by certain limitations. A clear pattern was evident whereby contraception and managing âhow far to goâ were depicted as women's responsibility. There was a limited range of representations for young men, a lack of positive images of lesbian and gay teenagers, and a failure to represent diversity. There were also no examples of how people might raise concerns such as safer sex. In this context, health educators need to be aware of both the richness and the limitations of current mainstream representations in order to work with and through the media to improve the quality and range of material for young people
Exactly solvable quantum spin ladders associated with the orthogonal and symplectic Lie algebras
We extend the results of spin ladder models associated with the Lie algebras
to the case of the orthogonal and symplectic algebras $o(2^n),\
sp(2^n)$ where n is the number of legs for the system. Two classes of models
are found whose symmetry, either orthogonal or symplectic, has an explicit n
dependence. Integrability of these models is shown for an arbitrary coupling of

This report urges WASH sector practitioners to take more seriously the threat of climate change and the consequences it could have on their work. By considering climate change within a risk and uncertainty framework, the field can use the multitude of approaches laid out here to adequately protect itself against a range of direct and indirect impacts. Eleven methods and tools for this specific type of risk management are described, including practical advice on how to implement them successfully
21st century social work: reducing re-offending - key practice skills
This literature review was commissioned by the Scottish Executiveâs Social Work Services Inspectorate in order to support the work of the 21st Century Social Work Review Group. Discussions in relation to the future arrangements for criminal justice social work raised issues about which disciplines might best encompass the requisite skills for reducing re-offending in the community. Rather than starting with what is known or understood about the skills of those professionals currently involved in such interventions, this study sought to start with the research evidence on effective work with offenders to reduce re-offending and then work its way back to the skills required to promote this outcome
Exactly solvable su(N) mixed spin ladders
It is shown that solvable mixed spin ladder models can be constructed from
su(N) permutators. Heisenberg rung interactions appear as chemical potential
terms in the Bethe Ansatz solution. Explicit examples given are a mixed
spin-1/2 spin-1 ladder, a mixed spin-1/2 spin-3/2 ladder and a spin-1 ladder

Yang-Yang method for the thermodynamics of one-dimensional multi-component interacting fermions
Using Yang and Yang's particle-hole description, we present a thorough
derivation of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations for a general
fermionic system in one-dimension for both the repulsive and
attractive regimes under the presence of an external magnetic field. These
equations are derived from Sutherland's Bethe ansatz equations by using the
spin-string hypothesis. The Bethe ansatz root patterns for the attractive case
are discussed in detail. The relationship between the various phases of the
magnetic phase diagrams and the external magnetic fields is given for the
attractive case. We also give a quantitative description of the ground state

Motion of buoyant particles and coarsening of solid-liquid mixtures in a random acceleration field
Flow induced by a random acceleration field (g-jitter) is considered in two
related situations that are of interest for microgravity fluid experiments: the
random motion of an isolated buoyant particle and coarsening of a solid-liquid
mixture. We start by analyzing in detail actual accelerometer data gathered
during a recent microgravity mission, and obtain the values of the parameters
defining a previously introduced stochastic model of this acceleration field.
We then study the motion of a solid particle suspended in an incompressible
fluid that is subjected to such random accelerations. The displacement of the
particle is shown to have a diffusive component if the correlation time of the
stochastic acceleration is finite or zero, and mean squared velocities and
effective diffusion coefficients are obtained explicitly. Finally, the effect
of g-jitter on coarsening of a solid-liquid mixture is considered. Corrections
due to the induced fluid motion are calculated, and estimates are given for
coarsening of Sn-rich particles in a Sn-Pb eutectic fluid, experiment to be

European Paediatric Formulation Initiative (EuPFI)-Formulating Ideas for Better Medicines for Children.

It brings together the capabilities of the industry, academics, hospitals, and regulators within a common platform in order to scope the solid understanding of the major issues, which will underpin the progress towards the future of paediatric medicines we want.The EuPFI was formed in parallel to the adoption of regulations within the EU and USA and has served as a community that drives research and dissemination through publications and the organisation of annual conferences. The membership and reach of this group have grown since its inception in 2007 and continue to develop and evolve to meet the continuing needs and ambitions of research into and development of age appropriate medicines. Five diverse workstreams (age-appropriate medicines, Biopharmaceutics, Administration Devices, Excipients and Taste Assessment & Taste Masking (TATM)) direct specific workpackages on behalf of the EuPFI. Furthermore, EuPFI interacts with multiple diverse professional groups across the globe to ensure efficient working in the area of paediatric medicines. Strong commitment and active involvement of all EuPFI stakeholders have proved to be vital to effectively address knowledge gaps related to paediatric medicines, discuss potential areas for further research and identify issues that need more attention and analysis in the future.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio
Magnetic Susceptibility of an integrable anisotropic spin ladder system
We investigate the thermodynamics of a spin ladder model which possesses a
free parameter besides the rung and leg couplings. The model is exactly solved
by the Bethe Ansatz and exhibits a phase transition between a gapped and a
gapless spin excitation spectrum. The magnetic susceptibility is obtained
numerically and its dependence on the anisotropy parameter is determined. A
connection with the compounds KCuCl3, Cu2(C5H12N2)2Cl4 and (C5H12N)2CuBr4 in
the strong coupling regime is made and our results for the magnetic
