Energy-Momentum Complex in M\o ller's Tetrad Theory of Gravitation
M\o ller's Tetrad Theory of Gravitation is examined with regard to the
energy-momentum complex. The energy-momentum complex as well as the
superpotential associated with M\o ller's theory are derived. M\o ller's field
equations are solved in the case of spherical symmetry. Two different
solutions, giving rise to the same metric, are obtained. The energy associated
with one solution is found to be twice the energy associated with the other.
Some suggestions to get out of this inconsistency are discussed at the end of

Kerr-Schild type initial data for black holes with angular momenta
Generalizing previous work we propose how to superpose spinning black holes
in a Kerr-Schild initial slice. This superposition satisfies several physically
meaningful limits, including the close and the far ones. Further we consider
the close limit of two black holes with opposite angular momenta and explicitly
solve the constraint equations in this case. Evolving the resulting initial
data with a linear code, we compute the radiated energy as a function of the

On Scaling Solutions with a Dissipative Fluid
We study the asymptotic behaviour of scaling solutions with a dissipative
fluid and we show that, contrary to recent claims, the existence of stable
accelerating attractor solution which solves the `energy' coincidence problem
depends crucially on the chosen equations of state for the thermodynamical
variables. We discuss two types of equations of state, one which contradicts

Galactic Collapse of Scalar Field Dark Matter
We present a scenario for galaxy formation based on the hypothesis of scalar
field dark matter. We interpret galaxy formation through the collapse of a
scalar field fluctuation. We find that a cosh potential for the
self-interaction of the scalar field provides a reasonable scenario for
galactic formation, which is in agreement with cosmological observations and

Restraint stress increases hemichannel activity in hippocampal glial cells and neurons
Stress affects brain areas involved in learning and emotional responses, which may contribute in the development of cognitive deficits associated with major depression. These effects have been linked to glial cell activation, glutamate release and changes in neuronal plasticity and survival including atrophy of hippocampal apical dendrites, loss of synapses and neuronal death. Under neuro-inflammatory conditions we recently unveiled a sequential activation of glial cells that release ATP and glutamate via hemichannels inducing neuronal death due to activation of neuronal NMDA/P2X7 receptors and pannexin1 hemichannels. In the present work, we studied if stress-induced glia activation is associated to changes in hemichannel activity. To this end, we compared hemichannel activity of brain cells after acute or chronic restraint stress in mice. Dye uptake experiments in hippocampal slices revealed that acute stress induces opening of both Cx43 and Panx1 hemichannels in astrocytes, which were further increased by chronic stress; whereas enhanced Panx1 hemichannel activity was detected in microglia and neurons after acute/chronic and chronic stress, respectively. Moreover, inhibition of NMDA/P2X7 receptors reduced the chronic stress-induced hemichannel opening, whereas blockade of Cx43 and Panx1 hemichannels fully reduced ATP and glutamate release in hippocampal slices from stressed mice. Thus, we propose that gliotransmitter release through hemichannels may participate in the pathogenesis of stress-associated psychiatric disorders and possibly depression
On singular Lagrangians affine in velocities
The properties of Lagrangians affine in velocities are analyzed in a
geometric way. These systems are necessarily singular and exhibit, in general,
gauge invariance. The analysis of constraint functions and gauge symmetry leads

False Vacuum Inflation with Einstein Gravity
We investigate chaotic inflation models with two scalar fields, such that one
field (the inflaton) rolls while the other is trapped in a false vacuum state.
The false vacuum becomes unstable when the inflaton field falls below some
critical value, and a first or second order transition to the true vacuum
ensues. Particular attention is paid to Linde's second-order `Hybrid
Inflation'; with the false vacuum dominating, inflation differs from the usual
true vacuum case both in its cosmology and in its relation to particle physics.
The spectral index of the adiabatic density perturbation can be very close to
1, or it can be around ten percent higher. The energy scale at the end of
inflation can be anywhere between \,GeV and \,GeV, though
reheating is prompt so the reheat temperature can't be far below
GeV. Topological defects are almost inevitably produced at the end
of inflation, and if the inflationary energy scale is near its upper limit they
can have significant effects.
Because false vacuum inflation occurs with the inflaton field far below the
Planck scale, it is easier to implement in the context of supergravity than
standard chaotic inflation. That the inflaton mass is small compared with the
inflationary Hubble parameter is still a problem for generic supergravity
theories, but remarkably this can be avoided in a natural way for a class of
supergravity models which follow from orbifold compactification of

Factors that influence parental and caregiver acceptance of routine childhood vaccination: Summary of a qualitative evidence synthesis
We summarise a Cochrane review of qualitative evidence that explored parents’ views and practices around routine childhood vaccination, and provide implications for research and practice that are relevant to the South African (SA) context. Many public health interventions to encourage vaccination are informed by an assumption that vaccine hesitancy is due to a lack of knowledge or irrational forms of thinking. The findings from this review suggest that childhood vaccination views and practices are complex social processes that are shaped by multiple factors and carry a variety of meanings. As such, we suggest that biomedical approaches must be supplemented by more nuanced and sociopolitically informed strategies for enhancing and sustaining childhood vaccination practices in SA
Effective theories of scattering with an attractive inverse-square potential and the three-body problem
A distorted-wave version of the renormalisation group is applied to
scattering by an inverse-square potential and to three-body systems. In
attractive three-body systems, the short-distance wave function satisfies a
Schroedinger equation with an attractive inverse-square potential, as shown by
Efimov. The resulting oscillatory behaviour controls the renormalisation of the
three-body interactions, with the renormalisation-group flow tending to a limit
cycle as the cut-off is lowered. The approach used here leads to single-valued
potentials with discontinuities as the bound states are cut off. The
perturbations around the cycle start with a marginal term whose effect is
simply to change the phase of the short-distance oscillations, or the
self-adjoint extension of the singular Hamiltonian. The full power counting in
terms of the energy and two-body scattering length is constructed for
