High-dimensional Bell test for a continuous variable state in phase space and its robustness to detection inefficiency
We propose a scheme for testing high-dimensional Bell inequalities in phase
space. High-dimensional Bell inequalities can be recast into the forms of a
phase-space version using quasiprobability functions with the complex-valued
order parameter. We investigate their violations for two-mode squeezed states
while increasing the dimension of measurement outcomes, and finally show the

Identification of the Beutler-Fano formula in eigenphase shifts and eigentime delays near a resonance
Eigenphase shifts and eigentime delays near a resonance for a system of one
discrete state and two continua are shown to be functionals of the Beutler-
Fano formulas using appropriate dimensionless energy units and line profile
indices. Parameters responsible for the avoided crossing of eigenphase shifts
and eigentime delays are identified. Similarly, parameters responsible for the
eigentime delays due to a frame change are identified. With the help of new
parameters, an analogy with the spin model is pursued for the S matrix and time
delay matrix. The time delay matrix is shown to comprise three terms, one due
to resonance, one due to a avoided crossing interaction, and one due to a frame
change. It is found that the squared sum of time delays due to the avoided

Resonance structures in the multichannel quantum defect theory for the photofragmentation processes involving one closed and many open channels
The transformation introduced by Giusti-Suzor and Fano and extended by
Lecomte and Ueda for the study of resonance structures in the multichannel
quantum defect theory (MQDT) is used to reformulate MQDT into the forms having
one-to-one correspondence with those in Fano's configuration mixing (CM) theory
of resonance for the photofragmentation processes involving one closed and many
open channels. The reformulation thus allows MQDT to have the full power of the
CM theory, still keeping its own strengths such as the fundamental description
of resonance phenomena without an assumption of the presence of a discrete

Absolute Upper Bound on the 1-loop Corrected mass of in the NMSSM
We examine in detail radiative corrections to the lightest scalar Higgs boson
mass due to the top quark and scalar quark loops in the next-to-minimal
supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM). We take into account the nondegenerate
state for the top scalar quark masses. In our analysis, the mass matrix of the
top scalar quark contains the gauge terms. Therefore our formula for the scalar
Higgs boson mass matrix at the 1-loop level includes the contribution of the
gauge sector as well as the effect of the top scalar quark mass splitting. Thus
we calculate the upper bound on the lightest scalar Higgs boson mass using our
formula. We find that the absolute upper bound on the 1-loop corrected mass of

State based model of long-term potentiation and synaptic tagging and capture
Recent data indicate that plasticity protocols have not only synapse-specific but also more widespread effects. In particular, in synaptic tagging and capture (STC), tagged synapses can capture plasticity-related proteins, synthesized in response to strong stimulation of other synapses. This leads to long-lasting modification of only weakly stimulated synapses. Here we present a biophysical model of synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus that incorporates several key results from experiments on STC. The model specifies a set of physical states in which a synapse can exist, together with transition rates that are affected by high- and low-frequency stimulation protocols. In contrast to most standard plasticity models, the model exhibits both early- and late-phase LTP/D, de-potentiation, and STC. As such, it provides a useful starting point for further theoretical work on the role of STC in learning and memory
Langevin dynamics of the Coulomb frustrated ferromagnet: a mode-coupling analysis
We study the Langevin dynamics of the soft-spin, continuum version of the
Coulomb frustrated Ising ferromagnet. By using the dynamical mode-coupling
approximation, supplemented by reasonable approximations for describing the
equilibrium static correlation function, and the somewhat improved dynamical
self-consistent screening approximation, we find that the system displays a
transition from an ergodic to a non-ergodic behavior. This transition is
similar to that obtained in the idealized mode-coupling theory of glassforming
liquids and in the mean-field generalized spin glasses with one-step replica
symmetry breaking. The significance of this result and the relation to the

Sequence variants in the PTCH1 gene associate with spine bone mineral density and osteoporotic fractures
Bone mineral density (BMD) is a measure of osteoporosis and is useful in evaluating the risk of fracture. In a genome-wide association study of BMD among 20,100 Icelanders, with follow-up in 10,091 subjects of European and East-Asian descent, we found a new BMD locus that harbours the PTCH1 gene, represented by rs28377268 (freq. 11.4–22.6%) that associates with reduced spine BMD (P=1.0 × 10−11, β=−0.09). We also identified a new spine BMD signal in RSPO3, rs577721086 (freq. 6.8%), that associates with increased spine BMD (P=6.6 × 10−10, β=0.14). Importantly, both variants associate with osteoporotic fractures and affect expression of the PTCH1 and RSPO3 genes that is in line with their influence on BMD and known biological function of these genes. Additional new BMD signals were also found at the AXIN1 and SOST loci and a new lead SNP at the EN1 locus
