Hemangioma of the prostate - an unusual cause of lower urinary tract symptoms: Case report

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Hemangioma of the prostate gland is extremely rare and only a few cases have been reported. There have been several cases of hemangioma of posterior urethra, urinary bladder and periprostatic plexus in the literature, all presenting with hematuria or hematospermia. Diagnosis of prostatic hemangioma is difficult due to its rarity and unspecific symptoms such as hematuria, hematospermia or lower urinary tract symptoms. It cannot be detected by conventional examinations such as cystoscopy or standard rectal ultrasonography.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We present a case of prostatic hemangioma in an 84-year old male presenting with lower urinary tract symptoms. Bleeding has not been a feature in our case and diagnosis was not made until after operation. The patient was treated as a case of bladder neck outflow obstruction with transurethral resection of prostate gland and simultaneous bladder neck incisions. A period of self-catheterization was instituted due to postoperative urinary retention as the result of detrusor insufficiency.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Hemangioma of prostate gland is extremely rare and symptomatic prostatic hemangioma should be treated either by transurethral resection of prostate or laser evaporation.</p

Duración del ayuno y lugar de espera pre-faena en vacunos: ¿cuál es el impacto sobre el peso de la canal, la hidratación y la calidad de la carne?.

En este artículo se analizan los resultados de tres trabajos de investigación en los años 2016, 2017 y 2018, en los que se evaluó el efecto del tiempo de ayuno pre-faena y el lugar de espera sobre el peso y calidad de canal y carne, así como de variables fisiológicas. De estos trabajos se concluye que si bien las pérdidas por el tiempo de ayuno largo son numéricamente pequeñas (~3,5 kg/animal en el peso de la canal), estas son sin duda económicamente significativas (~10-15 U$S/animal; ~400-500 U$S por camión embarcado)

Social Inequality, Technological Inequality and Educational Heterogeneity in the Light of the Conectar Igualdad OLPC Programme (Salta, Argentina, 2015–2017)

Does the level of promotion and protection of education have any relation to the level of technological development of society? Is there any correlation between digital and social inequalities when it comes to the rights to education in social and geographical marginalized areas? This chapter bridges both questions answering them via quantitative and qualitative data referred to a specific context, on a specific educative policy: the Conectar Igualdad Programme as a social policy applied in an urban and a rural secondary school located in Salta (Argentina). This case study provides evidence on digital-inequality issues facing adolescent citizens among marginalized communities and promotes evidence-informed policy change for the improvement of the access, the use and the implementation of information and communications technologies (ICTs) for educational, social and cultural development.Fil: García Vargas, Alejandra.
