    Dipole and Quadrupole electroexcitations of the isovector T=1 particle-hole states in C-12

    Electroexcitations of the dominantly T=1 particle-hole states of C-12 are studied in the framework of the harmonic oscillator shell model. All possible T=1 single-particle-hole states of all allowed angular momenta are considered in a basis including single-particle states up to the 1f-2p shell. The Hamiltonian is diagnoalized in this space in the presence of the modified surface delta interaction. Correlation in the ground state wave functions by mixing more than one configuration is considered and shows a major contribution that leads to enhance the calculations of the form factors. A comparison with the experiment shows that this model is able to fit the location of states and a simple scaling of the results give a good fit to the experimental form factors.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 5 tables, Late

    Naididae (Clitellata : Oligochaeta) and Aeolosomatidae ( Polychaeta : Aphanoneura) Species associated with aquatic plants in Tigris River/ Baghdad / Iraq

    339 individuals , were sorted from 22 samples collected from three sites in Tigris River including , Al- Sarafiya district (S1), Al- Jaderiyah district (S2) and Al-Za'afaraniya district (S3), in addition to one site in the irrigation canal of the Al- Jaderiyah campus of the University of Baghdad (S4) , and in Al- Jeish canal(S5) east Baghdad. The sorting results revealed that the highest number of individuals of 102 was recorded at S4, whereas the lowest number of 24 individuals was recorded at S2. Regarding the sites, site S4 was the richest site with 30% of the total number represented 16 species, while each of S3 and S5 had 8 species only with 17.11% and 28.60% of the total individuals number respectively. The values of Jaccared Similarity Index, shows that the highest similarity index of 81% was recorded between S2 & S4.Sorted Naididae worms comprised, 17 species of the subfamily Naidinae with 59% of the total number ,10 species of them are new record to Iraq, and 6 species are new records to Tigris River. Four species of the Subfamily Pristininae were identified, with a percentage of 25% of the total number, two of them are new record to Iraq, while the other two are new records to Tigris River, in addition to two species of Aeolostomatidae (Aphanoneura: Polychaeta), with16% of the total number , both of them are new records to Iraq. Nine genera were recorded , from which Nais was the most abundant genus, followed by genus Pristina. These two genera were found in all study sites. Four species of Chaetogaster were observed including, C. cristallinus; C. diastrophus; C.Limnaei and C. langi, The first two species are new record to Iraq , and they are the most abundant species within the Chaetogaster collections . Uncinais minor, Slavina appendiculata and Allonais inaequalis were three species new record to Iraq. The first species was found in S5 and, second species in S1 , while the third one was found in S1& S5 . Three species of Dero were identified, including, D.dorsalis, D. obtusa and D. digitata, the first two species are new record to Iraq , and the last one is new record to Tigris RiverTwo species of Stylaria were observed including, S. lacustris and S. fossularis. Latter species was new record to Tigris River.Regarding the genus Nais, five species were recorded, including Nais varaibilis; N . comminus; N. simplex; N. paradalis and N. elinguis; The first three species are new record to Iraq, while the last two species are new record to Tigris River.According to subfamily Pristininae, Four species of Pristina were identified, P.aequiseta, P.longiseta , P. Proboscidea , and P. foreli. The first two species were the most abundant species of Pristina . P. foreli is new record to Iraq, while the other three species were new recods to Tigris River.Finally , a number of 55 individuals of genus Aeolosoma were recorded in S5 only, with two species including A. quarternarium and Aeolosoma leidyi , The two species are new record to Iraq.According to above results, it is clear that there were 14 & 8 species new records for Iraq and Tigris River in this investigation respectively

    A total of 72 individuals of genus Pristina were sorted from aquatic plant, Ceratophyllum demersum L., and filamentous algae collected from three sites on Tigris River at Baghdad including: Al-Sarafiya area (S1), Al- Jadiriyah area (S2), and Al- Za´afaraniya area (S3). Four species were identified including P. longiseta, P. aequiseta, P. proboscidea and P. foreli, with percentags of 51.7 , 36.4, 1.1, and 10.5 % respectively. The first two species found in all sites , while , P. proboscidea found only in S1 and P. foreli only in S2

    Mechanical Behavior of Modified Reactive Powder Concrete with Waste Materials Powder Replacement

    Across the world, a huge amount of waste materials is deposited from different industrial or construction activities. Out of this massive waste quantity, a petite is recycled and remaining is dumped in vulnerable lands. This paper deals with the potential utilization of solid waste in reactive powder concrete, practically powdered glass originating from waste glass bottles and powdered ceramics tile from waste of construction process. First, the optimum ratio of waste pozzolanic material (ceramics to glass ratio) was obtained by pozzolinic activity test. Then, the optimal waste pozzolanic material was incorporated in reactive powder concrete at several substitution levels. The waste pozzolanic material in 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, and 25 % were added in the reactive powder concrete mixes as fractional supplement of silica fume. Strength and water absorption of the modified reactive powder concrete were evaluated. A significant enhancement was observed in mechanical behavior of modified reactive powder concrete containing 15 % waste pozzolanic material. Results directed irrelevant raise in water absorption as increasing the waste replacement material. &nbsp

    Innovation-ecofriendly employment of waste paper for producing lightweight aggregate for concrete

    Lightweight concrete mentions to any concrete produced to an oven-dry density less than 2000 kg/m3. This can reached by replacement of natural aggregates with lightweight aggregate, no fine aggregate and or adding foamed agent to the concrete. This research usage of recycled paper as an aggregate replacement in producing a lightweight concrete for construction purpose. It was used two type of production of paper aggregate (The paper aggregate treatment with cement and paper aggregate treatment with wood glue) and then replacement with natural aggregate. The results shown increasing of replacement natural aggregate (gravel) with paper aggregate will leads to decreasing in density of concrete. The paper aggregate treatment with cement give a significant compressive strength than the concrete made with paper aggregate treatment with wood glue. Paper aggregate treatment with wood glue give a significant reduction in density than the concrete made with the paper aggregate treatment with cement. The large decreasing in splitting strength due to presence of paper when the replacement is 100% from the natural aggregate (gravel). However, the percentage of replacement 50% of paper aggregate given better splitting strength than the replacement of 100%

    Electrochemical behavior and characterization of grafted polystyrene-acrylonitrile electrodes.

    The redox of grafted polymer electrodes GPE (grafted polystyrene-acrylonitrile, GP15%, GP45% and GP50% grafting percentage) in aqueous electrolyte has been studied under various voltammetric conditions. In this work, voltammetric studies were carried out, principally in electrolyte containing potassium chloride. It was observed that GP15% has a good potential window at -2.0 - +2.0V without any current peak, while GP45% has reduction and oxidation current peaks at -175.9 and +210mV respectively. Also GP50% has oxidation and reduction current peaks at +263.1 and -261.9mV respectively. The redox process is irreversible in aqueous electrolyte containing different alkaline cations, such as Na+ , K+ , Rb+ and Cs+ . The shift of redox potential was found to follow the change in the hydration energy in the order: Cs+ >Rb+ > K+ >Na+ . In addition, the redox peaks of the fabricated electrodes from GP were also studied in aqueous electrolytes at different anaions (KCl, KClO4, K2HPO4, KNO3 and K2SO4), which gave good redox peaks in KCl and enhanced the redox current via increasing the concentration. Electrochemical experiments reveal that the grafted polymer electrodes show improved electron-transfer characteristics and exhibit high electrocatalytic activity for grafted percentage in the order of : 15% > 45% > 50%. The applications of these electrodes, especially type 15%, are in the cyclic voltammetric technique when used as a working electrode
