A flame resistant, nontoxic polymer which may be used safely in confined locations where there is inadequate ventilation is prepared either by polymerizing compounds having the formula R-N=P(C6H5)2(C6H4)CH=CH2 where R is an organic moeity selected from the group of (C6H5)2P(O)-, (C6H5O)2P(O)-, (C6H5)2 C3N3-, or their mixtures, or by reacting a polymer with an organic azide such as diphenylphosphinylazide, diphenyl-phosphorylazide, 2-azido-4,6-diphenly-5-triazine, 2,4-diazido-6-phenyl-s-triazine, trimethylsilyoazide, triphenylsilylazine, and phenylazine. The reaction of the styrylphosphine with the organozaide results in the oxidation of the trivalent phosphorus atom to the pentavalent state in the form of an unsaturated P=N linkage known as a phosphazene group

Homopolymers, copolymers and terpolymers of a styrene based monomer are prepared by polymerizing at least one oxidized styrylphosphine monomer or by polymerizing p-diphenylphosphinestyrene and then oxidizing the polymerized monomer with an organoazide. Copolymers can also be prepared by copolymerizing styrene with at least one oxidized styrylphosphine monomer. Flame resistant vinyl based polymers whose degradation products are non toxic and non corrosive are obtained

A process is described for preparing flame resistant, nontoxic vinyl polymers which contain phosphazene groups and which do not emit any toxic or corrosive products when they are oxidatively degraded. Homopolymers, copolymers, and terpolymers of a styrene based monomer are prepared by polymerizing at least one oxidized styrylphosphine monomer from a group of organic azides, or by polymerizing p-diphenylphosphinestyrene and then oxidizing that monomer with an organoazide from the group of (C6H5)2P(O)N3, (C6H5O)2P(O)N3, (C6H5)2C3N3(N3), and C6H5C3N3(N3)2. Copolymers can also be prepared by copolymerizing styrene with at least one oxidized styrylphosphine monomer

Logarithmic temperature dependence of conductivity at half-integer filling factors: Evidence for interaction between composite fermions

We have studied the temperature dependence of diagonal conductivity in high-mobility two-dimensional samples at filling factors ν=1/2\nu=1/2 and 3/2 at low temperatures. We observe a logarithmic dependence on temperature, from our lowest temperature of 13 mK up to 400 mK. We attribute the logarithmic correction to the effects of interaction between composite fermions, analogous to the Altshuler-Aronov type correction for electrons at zero magnetic field. The paper is accepted for publication in Physical Review B, Rapid Communications.Comment: uses revtex macro

Hamiltonian and measuring time for analog quantum search

We derive in this study a Hamiltonian to solve with certainty the analog quantum search problem analogue to the Grover algorithm. The general form of the initial state is considered. Since the evaluation of the measuring time for finding the marked state by probability of unity is crucially important in the problem, especially when the Bohr frequency is high, we then give the exact formula as a function of all given parameters for the measuring time.Comment: 5 page

Searching for an anomalous tˉqγ\bar t q \gamma coupling via single top quark production at a γγ\gamma\gamma collider

We investigate the potential of a high-energy γγ\gamma\gamma collider to detect an anomalous tˉqγ\bar t q \gamma coupling from observation of the reaction γγ→tqˉ\gamma \gamma \to t\bar q, tˉq\bar t q, where q=cq=c or uu. We find that with bb-tagging and suitable kinematic cuts this process should be observable if the anomalous coupling κ/Λ\kappa/\Lambda is no less than about 0.05/TeV, where Λ\Lambda is the scale of new physics associated with the anomalous interaction. This improves upon the bound possible from observation of top decays at the Tevatron.Comment: 13 pages, RevTeX, 1 PS figur
