Entropic Gravity, Phase-Space Noncommutativity and the Equivalence Principle
We generalize E. Verlinde's entropic gravity reasoning to a phase-space
noncommutativity set-up. This allow us to impose a bound on the product of the
noncommutative parameters based on the Equivalence Principle. The key feature
of our analysis is an effective Planck's constant that naturally arises when
accounting for the noncommutative features of the phase-space.Comment: 12 pages. Version to appear at the Classical and Quantum Gravit
Non-commutative Quantum Mechanics in Three Dimensions and Rotational Symmetry
We generalize the formulation of non-commutative quantum mechanics to three
dimensional non-commutative space. Particular attention is paid to the
identification of the quantum Hilbert space in which the physical states of the
system are to be represented, the construction of the representation of the
rotation group on this space, the deformation of the Leibnitz rule accompanying
this representation and the implied necessity of deforming the co-product to
restore the rotation symmetry automorphism. This also implies the breaking of
rotational invariance on the level of the Schroedinger action and equation as
well as the Hamiltonian, even for rotational invariant potentials. For
rotational invariant potentials the symmetry breaking results purely from the
deformation in the sense that the commutator of the Hamiltonian and angular
momentum is proportional to the deformation.Comment: 21 page
Basin structure in the two-dimensional dissipative circle map
Fractal basin structure in the two-dimensional dissipative circle map is
examined in detail. Numerically obtained basin appears to be riddling in the
parameter region where two periodic orbits co-exist near a boundary crisis, but
it is shown to consist of layers of thin bands.Comment: published in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn., 72, 1943-1947 (2003
Do the Small Numbers in the Quark Mixing arise from New Physics?
We put forward the conjecture that the small numbers in the
matrix, are generated by physics beyond the Standard Model. We identify as
small numbers and the strength of CP violation, measured by
, where stands for a rephasing invariant quartet of
. We illustrate how the conjecture can be realised in the context
of an extension of the Standard Model where an up-type vector-like quark is
introduced leading to a realistic spectrum of quark masses and an effective
in agreement with experiment.Comment: 15 pages, 1 tabl
Brasil: projeções do agronegócio 2011/2012 a 2021/2022.
CP-odd and CP-even Weak-Basis Invariants in the Presence of Vector-Like Quarks
We propose a minimal set of weak-basis invariants in an extension of the SM
where one up-type isosinglet vector-like quark is introduced, which allows us
to obtain all the physical content of the CKM matrix. We present CP-odd
invariants of lower order in mass than the one in the SM, which may have
important consequences for Baryogenesis. We study the extreme chiral limit,
where the two lightest generations have vanishing mass, showing that in this
extension, contrary to the SM, CP violation can be observed in collisions much
above the electroweak scale.Comment: 18 page
