Repeatability Analysis of 304L Deposition by the LENS® Process
Sandia National Laboratories is currently engaging in an effort to qualify Laser Engineered Net
Shaping™ (LENS®) as a repair and modification process for high rigor metal components. As
part of that effort, the LENS team has conducted a process repeatability test to help identify
variation within the system. This test utilized 304L stainless steel which is a commonly used
material at Sandia. Over the course of 12 weeks, 3/8”x3/8”x2” towers were built in sets of 3
with a total of 30 towers completed. A random sampling of 10 of these towers (1 from each set
of 3) had been identified before depositing the towers, and these towers were used for tensile
testing and metallographic testing. The testing showed the ultimate and yield strengths of all
samples to be well above those of annealed 304L. This is expected because of the rapid melt
pool solidification present in the LENS process and the resulting grain refinement. The ductility,
which usually remains on par with annealed 304L, was found to be lower. The final cause of this
loss of ductility was determined to be inter-layer separation due to loose wires in the closed loop
melt pool control system.Englis
The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon and Higgs-Mediated Flavor Changing Neutral Currents
In the two-Higgs doublet extension of the standard model, flavor-changing
neutral couplings arise naturally. In the lepton sector, the largest such
coupling is expected to be $\mu-\tau-\phi#. We consider the effects of this
coupling on the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. The resulting bound on
the coupling, unlike previous bounds, is independent of the value of other
unknown couplings. It will be significantly improved by the upcoming E821
experiment at Brookhaven National Lab.Comment: 7 pages Latex, 2 figure
Bounds on charged higgs boson in the 2HDM type III from Tevatron
We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to
Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level. In the framework of
this model we can use an appropriate form of the Yukawa Lagrangian that makes
the type II model limit of the general type III couplings apparent. This way is
useful in order to compare with the experimental data which is model dependent.
The analytical expressions of the partial width are
derived and we compare with the data available at this energy range. We examine
the limits on the new parameters from the validness of
perturbation theory.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, Universidad Nacional de Colombia. typos

From Just War to Just Intervention
What is Just War? What is Just Intervention? This paper examines the evolution of the criteria for Just War from its origins in the early Christian church to the twenty-first century. The end of the Cold War era has expanded the discussion to include grounds for intervention. Indeed, in the 1990s, a number of multilateral interventions took place on humanitarian grounds. But the debate is ongoing about whether the criteria applied in the Just War theory — proper authority, just cause, and right intent — remain valid in an era of Just Intervention. The author examines as case studies some multilateral interventions and the lessons learned from them as we seek to develop the framework of international law to address the evolving theory and current practice of Just Intervention. The philosophical background discusses the contributions of Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas, Grotius and Vitoria and Sanchez, and others more recent

La Chasse: The legacy of hunting calls in French compositions for solo horn and piano
The horn originates from the hunting fields of Europe and shares a particularly strong relationship with the country of France. During the fourteenth century, the hunt was a form of recreation in which the royalty and nobility of France passionately engaged. This patronage of the nobility led to the writing of many hunting treatises that contain hunting calls, the first music written for horn.
For hundreds of years, French composers have written compositions for solo horn and piano and continually include hunting calls, or passages in the style of hunting calls, into their works. Through continual reference and inclusion of hunting calls in their works, French composers have created a lineage of horn music that can trace its roots to the hunt. As such, a deeper and more impactful interpretation of these works can be achieved through studying the history of the horn, the European hunting tradition, and the music of the hunt.
This thesis delineates the inseparable relationship that the horn has with the European hunt, with a particular focus on France. Specific attention will be given to the origins of hunting calls and the treatises in which they are annotated. This thesis traces the legacy of hunting calls within the French compositions for solo horn and piano. The works Fantaisie pour Piano et Cor by Frédéric Duvernoy, Villanelle by Paul Dukas, La Chasse de Saint Hubert by Henri Büsser, En Forêt by Eugène Bozza, and Variations sur une Chanson Française by Marcel Bitsch constitute a representation of this lineage and will be analyzed through the lens of the hunting call legacy
