Total biosynthesis of fungal tetraketide pyrones

    Get PDF
Fungal tetraketide pyrones possess important and potent bioactivities, but their detailed biosynthetic pathways are unknown and synthetic routes to their production are lengthy. Here we investigated the fungal pathways to the multiforisins and compounds related to islandic acid. Heterologous expression experiments yield high titres of these compounds and pathway intermediates. The results both elucidate the pathway and offer a platform for the total biosynthesis of this class of metabolites

Combination of simulation and model-checking for the analysis of autonomous vehicles’ behaviors: A case study

    Get PDF
International audienceAutonomous vehicles’ behavioural analysis represents a major challenge in the automotive world. In order to ensure safety and fluidity of driving, various methods are available, in particular, simulation and formal verification. The analysis, however, has to cope with very complex environments depending on many parameters evolving in real time. In this context, none of the aforementioned approaches is fully satisfactory, which lead us to propose a combined methodology in order to point out suspicious behaviours more efficiently. We illustrate this approach by studying a non deterministic scenario involving a vehicle, which has to react to some perilous situation

Impact of the Cultivation Technique on the Production of Secondary Metabolites by Chrysosporium lobatum TM-237-S5, Isolated from the Sponge Acanthella cavernosa

The fungi Chrysosporium lobatum TM-237-S5 was isolated from the sponge Acanthella cavernosa, collected from the mesophotic coral ecosystem of the Red Sea. The strain was cultivated on a potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium, coupling solid-state fermentation and solid-state extraction (SSF/SSE) with a neutral macroreticular polymeric adsorbent XAD Amberlite resin (AMBERLITE XAD1600N). The SSF/SSE lead to high chemodiversity and productivity compared to classical submerged cultivation. Ten phenalenone related compounds were isolated and fully characterized by one-dimensional and two-dimensional NMR and HRMS. Among them, four were found to be new compounds corresponding to isoconiolactone, (-)-peniciphenalenin F, (+)-8-hydroxyscleroderodin, and (+)-8-hydroxysclerodin. It is concluded that SSF/SSE is a powerful strategy, opening a new era for the exploitation of microbial secondary metabolites. © 2019 by the authors

Filtering distributed information to build a plausible scene for autonomous and connected vehicles

International audienceTo make their decisions, autonomous vehicles need to build a reliable representationof their environment. In the presence of sensors that are redundant, but not necessarilyequivalent, that may get unreliable, unavailable or faulty, or that may get attacked, it is offundamental importance to assess the plausibility of each information at hand. To this end,we propose a model that combines four criteria (relevance, trust, freshness and consistency)in order to assess the confidence in the value of a feature, and to select the values that aremost plausible. We show that it enables to handle various difficult situations (attacks, failures, etc.), by maintaining a coherent scene at any time despite possibly major defects
