Results on Multiple Coulomb Scattering from 12 and 20 GeV electrons on Carbon targets
Multiple scattering effects of 12 and 20 GeV electrons on 8 and 20 mm
thickness carbon targets have been studied with high-resolution silicon
microstrip detectors of the UA9 apparatus at the H8 line at CERN. Comparison of
the scattering angle between data and GEANT4 simulation shows excellent
agreement in the core of the distributions leaving some residual disagreement
in the tails.Comment: 14 pages, 16 figures. Updated to match published versio
Observation of and search for violation in radiative charm decays
We report the first observation of the radiative charm decay and the first search for violation in decays , , and , using a data sample of
943 fb collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
collider. The branching fraction is measured to be , where the first
uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The obtained
asymmetries, , , and
, are consistent with no violation. We also present an improved
measurement of the branching fractions and
Search for a dark vector gauge boson decaying to using decays
We report a search for a dark vector gauge boson that couples to
quarks in the decay chain , . No signal is found and we set a
mass-dependent limit on the baryonic fine structure constant of in the mass range of 290 to 520 MeV/. This analysis is
based on a data sample of 976 fb collected by the Belle experiment at
the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Search for decays to invisible final states at Belle
We report the result from the first search for decays to invisible
final states. The analysis is performed on a data sample of 924
collected at and near the and resonances with the
Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. The
absolute branching fraction is determined using an inclusive sample,
obtained by fully reconstructing the rest of the particle system including the
other charmed particle. No significant signal yield is observed and an upper
limit of is set on the branching fraction of to
invisible final states at 90\% confidence level.Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures, submitted to PRD(RC
Search for CP Violation in the Decay Z -> b (b bar) g
About three million hadronic decays of the Z collected by ALEPH in the years
1991-1994 are used to search for anomalous CP violation beyond the Standard
Model in the decay Z -> b \bar{b} g. The study is performed by analyzing
angular correlations between the two quarks and the gluon in three-jet events
and by measuring the differential two-jet rate. No signal of CP violation is
found. For the combinations of anomalous CP violating couplings, and , limits of \hat{h}_b < 0.59h^{\ast}_{b} < 3.02$ are given at 95\% CL.Comment: 8 pages, 1 postscript figure, uses here.sty, epsfig.st
Studies of charmed strange baryons in the final state at Belle
We report the discovery of , observed by its decay into
the final state , and present the first observation and evidence
of the decays of and into .
We also perform a combined analysis of the with the
and decay modes to measure
the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We
measure the ratios of branching fractions , , and , where the uncertainties are
statistical and systematic. The analysis is performed using a 980 fb
data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
collider.Comment: Submitted to PR
Search for the Glueball in and decays
We report the first search for the glueball in
and decays with data samples of million and
million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No
significant signals are observed in any of the proposed production modes, and
the 90\% credibility level upper limits on their branching fractions in
and decays are obtained. The inclusive branching
fractions of the and decays into final states
with a are measured to be \BR(\Upsilon(1S)\to \chi_{c1}+ anything)
= (1.90\pm 0.43(stat.)\pm 0.14(syst.))\times 10^{-4} with an improved
precision over prior measurements and \BR(\Upsilon(2S)\to \chi_{c1}+ anything)
= (2.24\pm 0.44(stat.)\pm 0.20(syst.))\times 10^{-4} for the first time.Comment: 19 pages, 17 figures, Fig.10b was polished, but all the results
unchanged. Paper was published in PR
Measurement of the lepton polarization and in the decay
We report the first measurement of the lepton polarization
in the decay as
well as a new measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions , where
denotes an electron or a muon, and the is reconstructed in the modes
and .
We use the full data sample of pairs recorded
with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. Our results,
and
, are
consistent with the theoretical predictions of the Standard Model.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letters; one figure
