PHOTOPOL YMERIZA TION OF MALEIMIDE ANDITS N-SUBSTITUTED DERIVATIVES
To the best knowledge of the present authors, the photopolymerization of maleimide
and its N-substituted derivatives has not so far been reported.
We found that the photopolymerization of these monomers proceeds without the sensitizer
under various conditions. This communication is concerned with the results of
polymerization in both the solid state and the solution. It is emphasized that some
kinds of the polymers obtained have crystlalline structures
A Case of Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Purpura Associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Diagnostic Utility of ADAMTS-13 Activity
Thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura (TTP) caused by a deficiency in ADAMTS-13 activity is considered to involve a subset of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Although concept of TTP is included under the umbrella of TMA, discrimination of TTP from TMA is occasionally difficult in an autoimmune disorder. Herein, we report a case with TTP associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In this case, it was difficult to discriminate TTP from TMA and the measurement of ADAMTS-13 activity was useful for obtaining an accurate diagnosis. SLE patients having thrombocytopenia in complication with anemia should be considered a monitoring of ADAMTS-13 activity even though the patients lacked symptoms of TTP related to the microvascular coagulation
Polymerizations of U nsaturated Dibasic Acid Derivatives (II)Synthesis and Polymerizations of Methylvinylmaleate and fumarate
Methylvinylmaleate and fumarate were synthesized by Vinyl Interchange Reaction of
vinylacetate with monomethylmaleate or fumarate and their physical properties were determined
The cyclization polymerizations of above monomers with radical initiator were studied
and the initial rate of polymerization of fumarate was about thirtytimes as large as that of
maleate
Residual double bond in polymers and infrared spectra of polymers indicated the formation
of 5-membered lactone ring in both polymers and 4-membered lactone ring in
polymaleate. The difference of percent cyclization between two polymers was discussed
Integrable structure of box-ball systems: crystal, Bethe ansatz, ultradiscretization and tropical geometry
The box-ball system is an integrable cellular automaton on one dimensional
lattice. It arises from either quantum or classical integrable systems by the
procedures called crystallization and ultradiscretization, respectively. The
double origin of the integrability has endowed the box-ball system with a
variety of aspects related to Yang-Baxter integrable models in statistical
mechanics, crystal base theory in quantum groups, combinatorial Bethe ansatz,
geometric crystals, classical theory of solitons, tau functions, inverse
scattering method, action-angle variables and invariant tori in completely
integrable systems, spectral curves, tropical geometry and so forth. In this
review article, we demonstrate these integrable structures of the box-ball
system and its generalizations based on the developments in the last two
decades.Comment: 73 page
