Unified framework for the entropy production and the stochastic interaction based on information geometry
We show a relationship between the entropy production in stochastic
thermodynamics and the stochastic interaction in the information integrated
theory. To clarify this relationship, we newly introduce an information
geometric interpretation of the entropy production for a total system and the
partial entropy productions for subsystems. We show that the violation of the
additivity of the entropy productions is related to the stochastic interaction.
This framework is a thermodynamic foundation of the integrated information
theory. We also show that our information geometric formalism leads to a novel
expression of the entropy production related to an optimization problem
minimizing the Kullback-Leibler divergence. We analytically illustrate this
interpretation by using the spin model.Comment: 13pages, 4 figure
Smart non-destractive test of a concrete wall using a hammer
Large concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels are aging. In Japan and many other countries, those built during economic reconstruction after World War II are about 60 to 70 years old, and flacking and other problems are becoming more noticeable. Periodic inspections were made mandatory by government and ministerial ordinance during the 2013-2014 fiscal year, and inspections based on the new standards have just begun. There are various methods to check the soundness of concrete, but the hammering test is widely used because it does not require special equipment. However, long experience is required to master the hammering test. Therefore, mechanization is desired. Although the difference between the sound of a defective part and a normal part is very small, we have shown that neural network is useful in our research. To use this technology in the actual field, it is necessary to meet the forms of concrete structures in various conditions. For example, flacking in concrete exists at various depths, and it is impossible to learn about flacking in all cases. This paper presents the results of a study of the possibility of finding flacking at different depths with a single inspection learning model and an idea to increase the accuracy of a learning model when we use a rolling hammer
NHI- and NHC-supported Al(III) hydrides for amine–borane dehydrocoupling catalysis
The catalytic dehydrocoupling of amine–boranes has recently received a great deal of attention due to its potential in hydrogen storage applications. The use of aluminum catalysts for this transformation would provide an additional cost-effective and sustainable approach towards the hydrogen economy. Herein, we report the use of both N-heterocyclic imine (NHI)- and carbene (NHC)-supported Al(III) hydrides and their role in the catalytic dehydrocoupling of Me2NHBH3. Differences in the σ-donating ability of the ligand class resulted in a more stable catalyst for NHI-Al(III) hydrides, whereas a deactivation pathway was found in the case of NHC-Al(III) hydrides
Study on the Effect of Atomic Bomb Radiation on Thyroid Function
The thyroid function of 6112 cases directly exposed to the atomic bomb within 1.5 km (exposed group) and of 3047 cases directly exposed beyond 3.0 km from the hypocenter (control group) was analyzed and the following results were obtained.
1) The frequency distribution curves of TSH values of both groups closely resembled each other in males, but the curve of the exposed group deviated to the right due to high TSH values. In females, the distribution width of TSH values of the exposed group was wide with a low peak and when compared to the control group, the curve was remarkably deviated to the right due to TSH values.
2) The frequency of hypothyroidism was 1.22% in males of the exposed group and 0.35% in males of the control group, while in females it was 7.08% and 1.18%, respectively, showing a significantly higher rate in the exposed group in both sexes. By exposure dose, the frequency was 1.03% in males of the 1-99 rad group and with increase of exposure dose the frequency elevated, being 3.67% at exposure dose of 200 rad or more. In females, the frequency was 6.23% and 7.76%, respectively, showing a significantly higher frequency when compared to the control group.
3) The prevalence rate of positive MCHA among the cases of hypothyroidism was 16.4% in males of the exposed group and 88.9% in males of the control group, while in females the prevalence was 25.3% and 63.3%, respectively, showing a remarkably low rate in the exposed group
Synthesis of donor-acceptor chromophores by the [2+2] cycloaddition of arylethynyl-2H-cyclohepta[b]furan-2-ones with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane
Arylethynyl-2H-cyclohepta[b]furan-2-ones reacted with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) in a formal [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction, followed by ring opening of the initially formed cyclobutene derivatives, to afford the corresponding dicyanoquinodimethane (DCNQ) chromophores in excellent yields. The intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) interactions between the 2H-cyclohepta[b]furan-2-one ring and DCNQ acceptor moiety were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. The redox behavior of the novel DCNQ derivatives was examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which revealed their multistep electrochemical reduction properties depended on the number of DCNQ units in the molecule. Moreover, a significant color change was observed by visible spectroscopy under electrochemical reduction conditions.ArticleORGANIC & BIOMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY. 10(12):2431-2438 (2012)journal articl
Synthesis of 2-Aryl- and 6-Heteroaryl-1,3-di(4-pyridyl)azulenes by Katritzky’s Pyridylation of 2-Aryl- and 6-Heteroarylazulenes
Preparation of 2-aryl- and 6-heteroarylazulenes 2-6 and 8-10 was established by the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of the corresponding haloazulenes with lithium aryl- and heteroarylmagnesium ate complexes, which were readily prepared from the corresponding aryl and heteroaryl halides. The reaction of 2-6 and 8-10, except for 3 and 8, with pyridine in the presence of Tf2O, followed by treatment with KOH in MeOH afforded the corresponding 2-aryl- and 6-heteroary1-1,3-di(4-pyridyl)azulenes 11-16 in good yields.ArticleHETEROCYCLES. 89(11):2588-2603 (2014)journal articl
Gastric Carcinoid with Hypergastrinemia: Report of Three Cases
We report 3 cases of gastric carcinoids with hypergastrinemia. Case 1: A 60-year-old man had a 2 cm carcinoid of the stomach and underwent partial resection. Involvement of the muscularis propria and lymph nodes metastasis were observed microscopically. Follow-up gastroscopy revealed another carcinoid lesion and total gastrectomy was performed. Case 2: A 67-year-old woman with multiple carcinoids of the entire stomach underwent antrectomy. No growth of residual tumors has been detected so far. Case 3: A 61-year-old man had a tumor near the esophagogastric junction and underwent total gastrectomy. Carcinoid component was diffusely intermingled with adenocarcinoma in the tumor and invaded into the subserosa. In all 3 cases, the serum gastrin level was high and atrophic gastritis was microscopically observed. Carcinoid tumor in Case 3 was different from those in Cases 1 and 2 and interestingly, gastric carcinoid with hypergastrinemia showed various types of appearance
