    Starting from a bound-state model of weakly bound quarks for (qqˉq \bar{q}) mesons, we derive a formalism for computing the production or decay of such mesons, whatever the value of their internal orbital angular momentum L. That approach appears as a natural generalization of the Brodsky-Lepage formalism (valid only for L=0) that has been widely used in recent years for the computation of exclusive processes in perturbative QCD. We here apply it to the production, in photon-photon collisions, of: i) tensor-meson pairs; ii) pseudotensor-meson pairs; iii) hybrid pairs made of a pion and a pseudotensor meson. The numerical results we obtain allow for some hope of experimentally identifying such pairs, in the charged channels, at high-energy e^+e^- colliders of the next generation, provided integrated luminosities as high as ≈1040cm−2\approx 10^{40} cm^{-2} can be reached

    Tau/Charm Factory Accelerator Report

    The present Report concerns the current status of the Italian Tau/Charm accelerator project and in particular discusses the issues related to the lattice design, to the accelerators systems and to the associated conventional facilities. The project aims at realizing a variable energy Flavor Factory between 1 and 4.6 GeV in the center of mass, and succeeds to the SuperB project from which it inherits most of the solutions proposed in this document. The work comes from a cooperation involving the INFN Frascati National Laboratories accelerator experts, the young newcomers, mostly engineers, of the Cabibbo Lab consortium and key collaborators from external laboratories

    Search for 12C+12C molecule in 24Mg* populated by 24Mg+12C

    The gamma-decay properties of 24Mg excited states are investigated in the inverse reaction 24Mg+12C at E(24Mg) = 130 MeV. At this energy the direct inelastic scattering populates a 24Mg* energy region where 12C+12C breakup resonances can occur. Very exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer (BRS) in coincidence with EUROBALL installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility of the IReS at Strasbourg. The experimental detection system is decribed and preliminary results of binary reaction coincid data are presented

    Excitation of multiple giant dipole resonances: from spherical to deformed nuclei

    The effect of deformation on the excitation of multiple giant dipole resonances is studied. Analytical expressions are derived in the framework of the interacting boson model for the energies and E1 properties of giant dipole resonances in spherical and deformed nuclei, and a numerical treatment of transitional nuclei is proposed. Coulomb-excitation cross sections are calculated in 238^{238}U and in the samarium isotopes

    We present a new solvable system, solving the equations of five-dimensional ungauged N N \mathcal{N} = 1 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets, that allows for non-extremal solutions and reduces to a known system when restricted to the floating brane Ansatz. A two-centre globally hyperbolic smooth geometry is obtained as a solution to this system, describing a bubble linking a Gibbons-Hawking centre to a charged bolt. However this solution turns out to violate the BPS bound, and we show that its generalisation to an arbitrary number of Gibbons-Hawking centres never admits a spin structure

    We define a new partially solvable system of equations that parametrises solutions to six-dimensional N = 1 , 0 N=(1, 0) \mathcal{N}=\left(1,\ 0\right) ungauged supergravity coupled to tensor multiplets. We obtain this system by applying a series of dualities on the known floating brane system, imposing that it allows for the JMaRT solution. We construct an explicit multi-centre solution generalising the JMaRT solution, with an arbitrary number of additional BPS centres on a line. We describe explicitly the embedding of the JMaRT solution in this system in five dimensions

    CALDER: neutrinoless double-beta decay identification in TeO 2 bolometers with kinetic inductance detectors

    Next-generation experiments searching for neutrinoless double-beta decay must be sensitive to a Majorana neutrino mass as low as 10 meV . CUORE , an array of 988 TeO 2 bolometers being commissioned at Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso, features an expected sensitivity of 50–130 meV at 90 % C.L. The background is expected to be dominated by α radioactivity, and can be in principle removed by detecting the small amount of Cherenkov  light emitted by the β signal. The Cryogenic wide-Area Light Detectors with Excellent Resolution project aims at developing a small prototype experiment consisting of TeO 2 bolometers coupled to high-sensitivity light detectors based on kinetic inductance detectors. The R&D; is focused on the light detectors in view of the implementation in a next-generation neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment

    Searching for electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave transients

    A pioneering electromagnetic (EM) observation follow-up program of candidate gravitational wave (GW) triggers has been performed, Dec 17 2009 to Jan 8 2010 and Sep 4 to Oct 20 2010, during the recent LIGO/Virgo run. The follow-up program involved ground-based and space EM facilities observing the sky at optical, X-ray and radio wavelengths. The joint GW/EM observation study requires the development of specific image analysis procedures able to discriminate the possible EM counterpart of GW trigger from background events. The paper shows an overview of the EM follow-up program and the developing image analysis procedures as they are applied to data collected with TAROT and Zadko
