Pembangunan pembelajaran mobile dalam kejuruteraan
Perkembangan pembelajaran mobile hari ini memberi peluang untuk teknologi mobile dan teknologi Computer Aided Design (CAD) diintegrasikan dalam proses reka bentuk. Melalui pembelajaran mobile memberi peluang kepada pelajar untuk akses kepada maklumat tanpa batasan masa dan tempat. Berdasarkan prestasi pelajar kejuruteraan didapati pelajar mengalami kesukaran dalam penyelesaian masalah bagi kursus CAD. Hal ini merupakan satu perkara yang perlu dipandang serius kerana penyelesaian masalah merupakan keperluan asas bagi seorang jurutera. Buku ini menjelaskan teori dan aplikasi pembelajaran mobile dengan memberi penekanan terhadap model berasaskan prestasi bagi pelajar kejuruteraan. Pembelajaran mobile ini telah mempelbagaikan kaedah pembelajaran CAD bagi bidang kejuruteraan di Malaysia
Pembangunan dan pengujian prototaip pembelajaran mobile berasaskan prestasi (MOBICAD) dalam kursus reka bentuk berbantu komputer (CAD)
Penyelesaian masalah merupakan elemen yang penting dalam Pendidikan Teknikal
dan Vokasional (PTV). Reka Bentuk Berbantu Komputer (CAD) merupakan kursus
PTV yang memerlukan kemahiran penyelesaian masalah yang baik dan memerlukan
bahan pembelajaran yang berkesan seiring perkembangan teknologi terkini. Model
Berasaskan Prestasi merupakan model yang dinamik dan sensitif kepada perubahan
teknologi. Kajian ini bertujuan membangun dan menguji Prototaip Pembelajaran
Mobile Berasaskan Prestasi (MobiCAD) dalam kursus Reka Bentuk Berbantu
Komputer (CAD) bagi meningkatkan kemahiran penyelesaian masalah pelajar di
politeknik. Kajian ini terbahagi kepada dua fasa, iaitu fasa pembangunan dan fasa
penilaian. Bagi fasa pembangunan MobiCAD di bangun menggunakan model ADDIE
bagi merancang pembangunan dan mengintegrasikan dua model iaitu Model
Berasaskan Prestasi serta Model Penyelesaian Masalah dengan menerapkan teori
konstruktivis dan teori pembelajaran mobile. Bagi fasa penilaian pula, MobiCAD
dinilai dari aspek penyelesaian masalah, aktiviti MobiCAD dan Strategi Berasaskan
Prestasi berdasarkan gaya pembelajaran pelajar politeknik dengan menggunakan
kaedah tinjauan. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah soal selidik,
protokol temu bual dan prototaip MobiCAD. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan
kaedah rawak berdasarkan gaya pembelajaran pelajar yang terdiri daripada 60 orang
pelajar yang mengambil kursus Reka Bentuk Berbantu Komputer di politeknik.
Analisis data yang digunakan ialah statistik deskriptif dan analisis kualitatif. Dapatan
kajian menunjukkan tahap tinggi terhadap penyelesaian masalah, aktiviti dan strategi
pembelajaran berasaskan prestasi terhadap kebolehgunaan MobiCAD bagi pelajar
politeknik. Namun data kualitatif menunjukkan setiap kumpulan mempunyai
kecenderungan berbeza bagi memilih aktiviti pembelajaran berdasarkan gaya
pembelajaran pelajar. Ini menunjukkan MobiCAD mampu menyediakan bahan
pembelajaran yang baik serta pelajar mampu memilih aktiviti yang bersesuaian
kepada keperluan pelajar berdasarkan Strategi Berasaskan Prestasi dan meningkatkan
kemahiran penyelesaian masalah pelajar. Implikasi kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa
penerapan model pembelajaran berasaskan prestasi dan model penyelesaian masalah
ke dalam bentuk mobile. Bahan sokongan yang dibangunkan terhadap kursus Reka
Bentuk Berbantu Komputer (CAD) melalui Menu dan aktiviti mobile memberi kesan
yang positif dan sesuai bagi diaplikasikan sebagai pembelajaran alternatif kelak.
Sumbangan keseluruhan kajian ini adalah terhadap pembangunan prototaip
MobiCAD yang membantu meningkatkan kemahiran penyelesaian masalah pelajar di
politeknik dan instrumen kajia
Video pembelajaran animasi atas talian bagi teknologi pemesinan
Pembelajaran atas talian merupakan salah satu medium pembelajaran yang perlu diinovasikan dalam kaedah penyampaian maklumat kepada pelajar. Kajian ini melaporkan tentang pembangunan video pembelajaran atas talian bagi kursus Teknologi Pemesinan. bagi meningkatkan minat pelajar Pendidikan Teknik dan Vokasional (PTV) dalam proses P&P. Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah membangunkan produk iaitu pembangunan video pembelajaran berdasarkan model PIE. Metodologi pembangunan objek pembelajaran melibatkan fasa Perancangan, Perlaksanaan dan penilaian. Kajian ini adalah berdasarkan pembangunan produk berdasarkan pengesahan pakar bagi membangunan dan menilai produk. Kajian ini dibangunkan berdasarkan pengesahan pakar bagi menilai pembangunan video. Instrumen penilaian objek pembelajaran ini dibangunkan bagi menilai elemen multimedia yang terdiri dari aspek teks, audio, animasi, grafik dan isi kandungan pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan persembahan keseluruhan video pembelajaran yang menggunakan website (wix.com) ini adalah sesuai dan menarik untuk P&P bagi kursus Teknologi Pemesinan
Video animation as teaching aid for engineering drawing course in Malaysia vocational college
The rapid development of information and communications technology (ICT) today has given a new breath to use of computer in education. One of the increasingly popular nowadays is a multimedia technology that merges a variety of media such as text, graphics, animation, video and audio controlled by a computer. With this technology, a wide range of multimedia software can be developed to improve the quality of education. This study aims to develop a multimedia educational animated video based interactive teaching and learning theory and design appropriate for Engineering Drawing subject in the title of Orthographic Projection according to the syllabus of Malaysia Vocational College. This research involved 30 respondents from Industrial Machining students in Vocational College. The research design was conducted by simple survey to collect data from the respondents. The instruments used in the form of a questionnaire to obtain information. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 24. The study found that the interactive multimedia materials that have visual graphics, text, audio, video and animation, capable of increasing the rate of their acceptance more than 30% compared to using traditional learning methods
Favourable approach that influence autism students learning language process
Education is important for all, including those students with special needs.In this context, learning process for students with special needsis certainly different from normal students, with special developed curriculum, as well as special skills for teachers are devotedfor teaching specific courses.This study investigatesthe special education teachersâapproach in teaching phonics of the language (i.e. Bahasa Melayu)for autism students, focusing on three elements; namely learning module, oral language and multimedia application. A survey study was designed using questionnaire involving 42 special education teachers from primary schools in the Southern Peninsular of Malaysia.Descriptive analysis were used to obtain percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results;a moderate level application of the module (M = 3.43, SD = 0.654) and the oral language (M = 3.64, SD = 0.570), but a high level of the multimedia application(M = 4.14, SD = 0.612). The multimedia elements wasthe most favorable approach in the teaching and learning process of autism students.The implication;more special design of a multimedia materials are needed for teaching phonics for language learning to help autism students to speaking correctly
Expert Review on Games for Basic Graphic Course Via M-Learning
The application of mobile learning or m-learning had been applied priviously to the world including in the Western and Asian countries. In Malaysia, especially in the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV), the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an important aspect of teaching and learning (PnP). Therefore, a game-based Android m-learning application for the Basic graphics course has been developed. Accordingly, the gameplay and functionality of the game-based Android m-learning game for the Basic graphics course has been conducted. A set of questionnaire forms was used as an instrument was given to three experts in their respective fields to evaluate and give a view to the developed m-learning application. The results of this study can be used as an improvement to the application developed to ensure it is in good condition.
 
The characteristics of the Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) through Moodle: a view on studentsâ knowledge construction process
Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) is based on the pedagogical process of observation where students will learn progressively through active group interaction. CSCL is an emerging branch of the learning sciences concerned with studying on how people can learn together with the help of computers. Thus, this research was conducted to measure the characteristics of the CSCL learning environment through Moodle that assists the process of studentsâ knowledge construction during the teaching and learning process. The CSCL learning environment is an educational learning system which develops to help the teachers and students in managing School Based Assessment (SBA) in selected secondary school in Malaysia. Samples involved two groups of students and two Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers from two different schools. A total of 61 students, who were taught using CSCL approach through Moodle, underwent the process of teaching and learning using their school computer laboratory. The finding shows that the characteristics of the CSCL learning approach that used in this learning environment for the first group are at a high level with overall mean of 4.17 and the second group at moderate level with overall mean of 3.62. The result proves that the characteristics of the CSCL learning environment help students to build their knowledge during teaching and learning process at the high level with an overall mean score of 3.87. The mean of these two groups may vary according to studentsâ background, as well as learning environment facilities. Although, CSCL leads to studentsâ self-development, improving learning quality, sharing knowledge and assisting studentsâ in the process of building their knowledge, implementation of CSCL must first considering the technology relevant facilities, especially computer laboratory and internet accessibility in school. The implication is that designing a good CSCL must also taking into account the targeted usersâ cultural background and socioeconomic factor
Development Of Fitting Kit Using Augmented Reality For Fitting Skill Subject At Vocational College
The rapid development of Information Technology today has given a new impetus to the use of technology, especially in the field of education. One of the developments that are increasingly popular nowadays is Augmented reality (AR) which use a barcode scanning technology as a medium of learning. This study aims to build an interactive multimedia-based teaching and learning theory and appriopate design based on Fitting Skill syllabus for Vocational College. Factors that contributed to this study is, teaching methods, the learning process safety, visualization and lack of teaching aids in the Fitting Skills subject. For the development of Fitting Kit, researcher used the ADDIE model as a reference and guide. The population included 150 students Machining Industry in KV Kluang and the sample is 30 first-year students in Machining Industry courses which take the Fitting Skill subject. To obtain information in this research, researcher used questionnaire as an instrument. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 24. Based on the analysis made, the reliability of the instrument is r = 0.86 and showed that the reliability of the instrument is at high level. The results showed that the use of interactive multimedia aided AR can increase student interest and thereby making the teaching more attractive in addition to improve existing ABBM. The Effects of Augmented Reality Geometry Learning Applications on Spatial Visualization Ability for Primary School Pupils
Geometry is considered a fundamental component to be mastered in the elementary school mathematics curriculum. Lower primary school pupils frequently experience obstacles because of the abstract nature of geometric concepts and the requirement for spatial visualization skills, which are necessary for strengthening their conceptual understanding. Augmented reality (AR) technology offers a promising solution by providing visual representations of geometric shapes. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effects of AR technology in primary school education on pupilsâ spatial visualization abilities in geometry. Employing a quasiexperimental pre- and post-test research design, this study involved 61 second-grade pupils from two Northern Malaysian primary schools. The selection of schools followed cluster sampling techniques, while intact groups were utilized to select samples. Data were collected from two groups: an experimental group that utilized the LearnGeoAR applications and a control group that employed conventional teaching methods to learn geometric shapes. This study used the spatial visualization ability test (SVAT) instrument, grounded in Van Hieleâs theory of geometric thinking. The findings revealed that the experimental group, which utilized AR applications, exhibited a higher mean score in pupilsâ spatial visualization ability in geometry compared to the control group. Additionally, the experiment demonstrated a moderate effect on both groups. This finding highlights the potential of AR technology in enhancing pupilsâ spatial visualization skills in geometry instruction, providing valuable insights for instructional methodologies
Identifying the Employment Skills Among Malaysian Vocational Students: An Analysis of Gender Differences
Employability and the creation of a knowledge-based economy have become fundamental concerns in many countries, including Malaysia. Realizing the need to achieve a high-income economy, the Malaysian Government through its Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020) is transforming Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) by enabling industry-led approach is crucial to produce skills human capital that meet the industry demand and support the migration of all economic sectors towards knowledge intensive activities, in line with the aspiration to become a high-income nation by 2020. Technical and Vocational Education can play a major role in providing future workforce with employability skills. Therefore, the research aims to examine the differences in competency perceived level by gender for vocational students majoring in hospitality. Questionnaires were distributed to 841 hospitality students in five regions in Malaysia. Descriptive statistic and independent sample T-Test were used to analyse the data. The findings show that there is no significant difference between male and female. The mean score of male is higher than mean score of female. Thus, the result provides evident that male is more competent in hospitality employability skills compared to female student in vocational colleges. The findings provide insights to curriculum developers and policy makers on the appropriate interventions that need to be taken to improve the employability skills of the graduates.
