Please allow me to express my interest in participating in the event; the agenda and objective are of high significance for discussing the maturity and development of a sustainable "cultural and creative infrastructure" powered by cultural policies and practices. Involvement and lobbying for such topics is essential for the cultural and creative dynamics where creative cities attract creative people. While navigating through a search engine and typing a name of a city, the first images to appear visualize the built environment of the city. For instance when you type Cairo into Google, you will be mainly looking at the Pyramids and built environment around the Nile in addition to the Old City of Cairo. If you type in New York you will find images of skyscrapers positioned around the natural landscape of the city, and so on and so forth. Thus tourism depends a lot on the built environment and the touristic standard is subject to the built environment, type and quality of tenants attracting the general public and of course the natural landscape.Arts and architecture play an important role among the built environment having both tangible and intangible economic impacts resulting from touristic attractions as well as other means; Cairo was once described as the most beautiful city in the world with the rich urban fabric and prosperity of the arts and architecture. In a country like Egypt where segmentation between the different social levels is becoming a real threat for future generations, it is crucial to work with all stakeholders including the authorities, civil society and the general public with objectives that would aim to serve all interests and gain a positive public opinion.

The Molecular Mechanisms Of Rapamycininduced Autophagy And Apoptosis In T-47d Breast Carcinoma Cells

Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved lysosomal degradation pathway that leads to degradation of proteins and entire organelles and subsequently plays a crucial role in the homeostatic process of recycling proteins and organelles. Autophagy is an important biological mechanism that enables cell survival and to induce death of damage cells. There is increasing evidence that autophagy progresses to autophagic cell death when the process is over-stimulated. Functional relationships have been described between apoptosis (Type I cell death) and autophagic cell death (Type II cell death). However, the molecular relationships and the circumstances of which molecular pathways dictate the choice between autophagy and apoptosis are currently unknown. Autophagy is regulated by the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) kinase pathway. The mTOR are known to inhibit the autophagy process and subsequently lead to tumor development. As a strategy, rapamycin, a known inhibitor of mTOR, was used as an autophagy inducer and 3-methyladenine (3MA) as a classical inhibitor of autophagy. In the present study, a systematic global gene expression was investigated in rapamycin-induced autophagy and the effects of rapamycin when autophagy process is inhibited. The findings have demonstrated that rapamycin was capable of inducing autophagy in T-47D breast carcinoma cells. However, when autophagy was inhibited by 3MA, rapamycin appeared to induce apoptosis in these breast cells

The study aimed to identify the degree of availability of design Thinking Indicators in The content of the Arabic Language Curricula at the secondary stage in the Syrian Arab Republic; to achieve the goal of the study. The researcher used the Descriptive Approach based on the analysis method according to the Cognitive Theory. The study tools consist of a list of Design Thinking Indicators and a Content Analysis Tool. The researcher completed the Validity and Reliability procedures for the tools. After applying them, the results of the study resulted in the following: Greater Interest than other sub-skills. The results also showed a Divergence of care for the sub-skills and the Difference in their recurrence rate, and the Omission of some sub-skills that did not have any opportunity to be trained on, sub-indicators of Design Thinking

Corporate Communication Management (CCM) and organisational performance: A review of the current literature, conceptual model and research propositions

    Get PDF
Corporate communication received great attention from scholars and the business community more than 40 years ago due to changes in global business environments. Many scholars believe there are influences of corporate communication management (CCM) on organisational performance, yet there is a paucity of studies on the validation of this theoretical assumption. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to address the gap by providing an elevated understanding of CCM and its consequences. The managerial and policy implications provided in this study help corporate communication practitioners to identify the practical needs of their work and design an appropriate CCM programme

Study on turbulent characteristics of flow boiling in a micro gap under the influence of surface roughness and micro fins

Micro gap heat sinks with internal micro fins are potential candidates for evaporative cooling of miniature electronic devices. Generation of turbulence during flow boiling in a micro gap is an important issue in two-phase heat transfer analysis. Surface roughness and fins play important role in turbulence generation. In this paper, effects of micro gap height, surface roughness and fin spacing on turbulence generation during flow boiling of pure water in this particular heat sink have been investigated by numerical simulation. Commercial software FLUENT 14.5 release has been used for simulation purpose. Volume of Fluid (VOF) model along with Renormalization Group Theory (RNG) based k − ε turbulence model has been used for fluid flow and heat transfer modeling. Simulation results demonstrate that turbulent kinetic energy increases in the flow direction due to large pressure drop inside micro gap. As pressure drop decreases with the increment of gap height, turbulent kinetic energy also declines. For the same reason, it has been found that generation of turbulent kinetic energy is lower for larger fin spacing. On the other hand, effect of surface roughness on turbulent kinetic energy is dominated by flow scale. For same Reynolds number, turbulence in larger fluid domains is more sensitive to surface roughness than smaller flow fields

BALANITES KERNEL OIL FOR THE TREATMENT OF DERMATOPHYTES: A CLINICAL TRIAL

    Get PDF
In a previous in vitro study, we have shown that the kernel oil of fruits of the tree Balanites aegyptiaca referred to as Balanites kernel oil ((BKO) is active against dermatophytes (i.e. superficial mycosis, ringworms, tineas (T. captitis, T. cercinata and T. pedis). We report here our clinical trials with BKO. Trials were performed on patients presenting at Wad Medani Dermatology Teaching Hospital as well as primary school children in Elsoreeba Town (5 km south of Wad Medani). Not all patients followed treatment till completely cured. Patients treated with BKO (half of the total) achieved complete cure in 3-5 weeks, on average, while those treated with the standard antifungal drug Miconazole (half of the total patients) did the same in the longer period of 3-8 weeks. Photographs showing progress of response to BKO treatments are included. BKO has great potential for development as a commercial drug for the treatment of dermatophytes

Isolation of catechins from Cycas armstrongii Miq. of an Egyptian origin

    Get PDF
The phytochemical investigation of Cycas armstrongii Miq. leaves and twigs using different chromatographic techniques led to the isolation of three catechin monomers; catechin (1), epicatechin (2), and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (3), for the first time from this species. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds is discussed in the rest of this article
