Role of Mothers\u27 Nutritional Knowledge, Nutritional Factors on the School Performance
A cross sectional study was carried out to investigate the effects of mothers\u27 nutritional knowledge, health and nutritional factors and socio-economic parameters on school performance among class five students of University Laboratory School, Dhaka. All of the eighty students were selected for this study. This study found there is a strong relationship between mother\u27s knowledge score and school performance. It was found that mothers\u27 knowledge score was responsible for 91.1 percent change in school performance. The mean BMI of the mothers was 20.44. We found that the school performance measured by class roll number of the students is significantly related with mothers BMI. There was an imperfect negative association between socio-economic parameters and school performance. But the relationship between the school performances with socio-economic parameters was strongly significant. This study also observed the relationship between Individual Dietary Diversity Score (IDDS) of respondent and marks achieved in class 4 final exam. It is alarming that consumption percentage were low for eggs (30) and milk and milk products (37.5), but majority of the students who consumed milk and milk products (63.3%) and eggs (66.7%) got the highest marks
Size dependent magnetic and electrical properties of Ba-doped nanocrystalline BiFeO
Improvement in magnetic and electrical properties of multiferroic BiFeO
in conjunction with their dependence on particle size is crucial due to its
potential applications in multifunctional miniaturized devices. In this
investigation, we report a study on particle size dependent structural,
magnetic and electrical properties of sol-gel derived
BiBaFeO nanoparticles of different sizes ranging from
12 to 49 nm. The substitution of Bi by Ba significantly suppresses
oxygen vacancies, reduces leakage current density and Fe state. An
improvement in both magnetic and electrical properties is observed for 10 %
Ba-doped BiFeO nanoparticles compared to its undoped counterpart. The
saturation magnetization of BiBaFeO nanoparticles increase
with reducing particle size in contrast with a decreasing trend of
ferroelectric polarization. Moreover, a first order metamagnetic transition is
noticed for 49 nm BiBaFeO nanoparticles which
disappeared with decreasing particle size. The observed strong size dependent
multiferroic properties are attributed to the complex interaction between
vacancy induced crystallographic defects, multiple valence states of Fe,
uncompensated surface spins, crystallographic distortion and suppression of
spiral spin cycloid of BiFeO.Comment:
Preparation of high crystalline nanoparticles of rare-earth based complex pervoskites and comparison of their structural and magnetic properties with bulk counterparts
A simple route to prepare GdSrMnO nanoparticles by
ultrasonication of their bulk powder materials is presented in this article.
For comparison, GdSrMnO nanoparticles are also prepared by
ball milling. The prepared samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction
(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), energy dispersive
X-ray (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), and Superconducting
Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometer. XRD Rietveld analysis is
carried out extensively for the determination of crystallographic parameters
and the amount of crystalline and amorphous phases. FESEM images demonstrate
the formation of nanoparticles with average particle size in the range of
50-100 nm for both ultrasonication and 4 hours (h) of ball milling. The bulk
materials and nanoparticles synthesized by both ultrasonication and 4 h ball
milling exhibit a paramagnetic to spin-glass transition. However, nanoparticles
synthesized by 8 h and 12 h ball milling do not reveal any phase transition,
rather show an upturn of magnetization at low temperature. The degradation of
the magnetic properties in ball milled nanoparticles may be associated with
amorphization of the nanoparticles due to ball milling particularly for milling
time exceeding 8 h. This investigation demonstrates the potential of
ultrasonication as a simple route to prepare high crystalline rare-earth based
manganite nanoparticles with improved control compared to the traditional ball
milling technique.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure
Comparative Effects of Different Feeds on Production and Reproduction of Crossbred Heifers in Gangachara Upazila, Rangpur, Bangladesh
The present study was conducted from January to June 2014, in Gangachara Upazila of Rangpur District, Bangladesh. A sample of 60 cross-bred dairy cows: Local × Holstein Friesian (L×HF) = 30 and Local × Sahiwal (L×Sh) = 30 were selected for in depth study. The average age at first heat, services per conception, age at first calving, post-partum heat period, the average milk production, the average lactation period were observed after feeding three types of feed: type-I (Sweet jamboo grass), type-II (Jomjom Dairy feed) and type-III (Advance Chemical Industry) feeding system. Local × Holstein Friesian (L×HF) cross and Local × Sahiwal (L×Sh) cross cows showed significantly (
Development of a Device for Remote Monitoring of Heart Rate and Body Temperature
We present a new integrated, portable device to provide a convenient solution
for remote monitoring heart rate at the fingertip and body temperature using
Ethernet technology and widely spreading internet. Now a days, heart related
disease is rising. Most of the times in these cases, patients may not realize
their actual conditions and even it is a common fact that there are no doctors
by their side, especially in rural areas, but now a days most of the diseases
are curable if detected in time.
We have tried to make a system which may give information about one's
physical condition and help him or her to detect these deadly but curable
diseases. The system gives information of heart rate and body temperature
simultaneously acquired on the portable side in real time and transmits results
to web. In this system, the condition of heart and body temperature can be
monitored from remote places. Eventually, this device provides a low cost,
easily accessible human health monitor solution bridging the gaps between
patients and doctors
Electricity From Wind for Off-Grid Applications in Bangladesh: a Techno-Economic Assessment
Global GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions are increasing substantially and electricity sector is one of the key contributors to the world\u27s total GHG emissions. GHG emissions cause ozone layer depletion and global warming. Different policy regulation agencies are adopting regulations to reduce GHG emissions in various sectors. People already have started power generation from cleaner sources. Renewable energy sources can provide cleaner electricity. Bangladesh is a densely populated country and most of the country\u27s electricity is produced from natural gas and coal. The Bangladesh government has set a goal to utilize renewable energy for the production of 10% of its electricity by the year 2020. Bangladesh has a lot of isolated coastal areas which are not connected to the national grid which can be electrified by using abundant wind energy. In this study a techno-economic analysis has been conducted for an off-grid island of Bangladesh. The analysis was conducted by developing a data intensive model that calculates the generation cost of electricity from wind energy. The model also estimates the capital cost of the system. The model shows that electricity can be produced from wind energy at a cost of 63,550.16. Keywords: GHG emission, cost of electricity, off-grid, wind energy, electricity generation.Article History: Received October 15th 2016; Received in revised form January 26th 2017; Accepted February 4th 2017; Available onlineHow to Cite This Article: Rahman, M.M., Baky, M.A.H, and Islam, A.K.M.S.
