This research aimed at improving of teacher's teaching learning process on the middle of the perlod in nursing clinical practice for adult. Objects are five students who are performing nursing clinical practice for adult. This research was investigated on the middle of the period and on the last day of the practice using Hunashima's Evaluation Scale on Teaching - learning process (nursing clinical practice) As the result ; 1. Negative evaluation (less than 3 points score) was shown in 21 items among 42 items in Evaluation Scale on the middle of the period. And examination was required. But after improving teacher's attitude towards student in negative evaluation vriteria, items of negative evaluation criteria diminished from 21 items to 7 items at the end of nursing clinical practice, about 70% improved to affirmative evaluation. (3 or more points) 2. The total item which required to examine decreased from 39 to 12, (about 70% improvement to affirmative evaluation.) 3. There was no change in an average score as to the measure 6 (Adjustment how to teach in between a teacher and nurses). The consisting and intimate connection between nurses and a teacher were suggested.

How to promote the stockpiling of medication for disaster preparedness among Parkinson’s disease patients receiving home care services

The purpose of this study was to identify factors, using the Health Belief Model (HBM) associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD) medication stockpiling for disaster preparedness among PD patients receiving home care services. The survey was conducted through an anonymous, self-administered postal questionnaire between March and September 2013, targeting all 1,398 members of Japan Parkinson’s Disease Association in nine prefectures in East Japan including the Hokuriku region. The analysis included 571 valid responses (40.8%). The results of a binary logistic regression analysis indicated that three of the modifying factors in the HBM, “possession of a disability certificate,” “bringing a medicine notebook or information sheet when going out,” and “awareness of the possibility of a future disaster” were significantly associated with stockpiling behavior. The “Cues to Action” factor (“encouragement from others or information promoting the stockpiling of medication”) was also significantly associated. However, the other constructs in the HBM, “Susceptibility,” “Severity,” “Perceived Threat,” “Barriers,” and “Benefits,” did not show significant association. We concluded that encouragement of stockpiling behavior from healthcare professionals and the PD Association, making a habit of always bringing a medicine notebook when going out, and raising awareness of the possibility of a disaster are useful in promoting medication stockpiling among PD patients

Evidence of mature adipocyte proliferation regulated by proliferin

Despite much research, whether mature adipocytes proliferate remains controversial. Here, we examined 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine (BrdU)-labelling of mature adipocytes. Although BrdU incorporation into subcutaneous adipocytes was less than that in visceral adipocytes, pioglitazone (Pio) treatment increased BrdU incorporation in subcutaneous, but not visceral, adipocytes in rats. Fully differentiated 3T3-L1 adipocytes exhibited an increase in cell number and BrdU incorporation with time, with this increase enhanced by Pio treatment. We therefore screened for genes that encode growth factors regulated by Pio, and selected proliferin (PLF). Both gene silencing of PLF by small interfering RNA and treatment with anti-PLF antibody suppressed proliferation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. In adipocytes isolated from Pio-treated rats, the tissue-specific pattern of PLF expression was similar to that of BrdU incorporation. Administration of an anti-PLF antibody to mice reduced BrdU incorporation into adipocytes. Mature adipocytes thus have the ability to replicate, and this proliferation is positively regulated by PLF

Correlations between Perceived Oral Malodor Levels and Self-Reported Oral Complaints

Objectives. Even though objective data indicating the absence of oral malodor are presented to patients, they may be skeptical about the results, possibly due to the presence of some discomfort in the oral cavity. The objective of this study was to investigate whether there is an association among self-perceptions of oral malodor, oral complaints, and the actual oral malodor test result. Materials and Methods. Questions concerning self-perceptions of oral malodor and subjective intraoral symptoms were extracted from a questionnaire on oral malodor completed by 363 subjects who visited the clinic for oral malodor of Tokyo Dental College Chiba Hospital and gave consent to this study. In addition, the association of self-perception of oral malodor with values obtained after organoleptic and OralChroma measurement was analyzed. Results. No correlation between 195 subjects (54%) who were judged “with oral malodor” (organoleptic score of ≥1) and 294 subjects (81.6%) who had a self-perceptions of oral malodor was observed. Self-perception of oral malodor was significantly correlated with tongue coating p=0.002 and a strange intraoral taste p=0.016. Conclusions. Subjects with a self-perception of oral malodor were not necessarily consistent with those actually having an oral malodor. In addition, it was suggested that patients became aware of oral malodor when they felt oral complaints
