The present paper describes biochemical (fatty oil) composition of Silybummarianum (L.) Gaertn. of Moldovan origin. The oil content of the seeds was approximately 25%. Linoleic acid (C18:2), an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid, is the most abundant (48.88%), followed by monounsaturated oleic acid (C18:1, 31.94%) and saturated palmitic acid (C16:0, 7.61%). The RP-HPLC analysis of tocopherols composition, showed as main components α-tocopherol (23.45 mg/100g) and γ–tocopherol (5.60 mg/100g). Based on the obtained results, it was shown that the extracted oil from milk thistle seeds is rich in essential fatty acids (about 50%) and tocopherols (29.09 mg/100g) and it can be used in food preparation

USMF Nicolae Testemiţanu, Hope Project, România, Institutul de Cardiologie, Spitalul Clinic Republican, Spitalul Fundeni, România, Conferința științifico-practică cu participare internațională Centrul de Sănătate Publică din municipiul Chișinău – 70 de ani la straja sănătăţii 23 octombrie 2014The research shows that the standardized mortality rate from cardiovascular disease in Republic of Moldova is one of the highest, with a value of 2.3 times the average for EU countries. Also present infrastructure maneuvers performed in our country and the average in EU. Data analysis shows that Moldova stands on one of the last places in the catheterization facilities, but also regarding key performance indicators in terms of diagnosis and treatment in ischemic heart disease. The authors propose four basic components for invasive treatment of acute myocardial infarction. Establishment of the National Centre for invasive treatment of acute myocardial infarction will create prerequisites in achieving basic as national health policy as well as implementation of the mentioned policy.

A new triazol-3-one resulted unexpectedly from the reduction reaction of a heterocyclic thioketone using sodium borohydride in pyridine containing a small amount of water. The structure of the new compound was characterised using FT-IR, 1D and 2D NMR, and HRMS spectroscopic methods

Composite Fibers Based on Polycaprolactone and Calcium Magnesium Silicate Powders for Tissue Engineering Applications

The present work reports the synthesis and characterization of polycaprolactone fibers loaded with particulate calcium magnesium silicates, to form composite materials with bioresorbable and bioactive properties. The inorganic powders were achieved through a sol–gel method, starting from the compositions of diopside, akermanite, and merwinite, three mineral phases with suitable features for the field of hard tissue engineering. The fibrous composites were fabricated by electrospinning polymeric solutions with a content of 16% polycaprolactone and 5 or 10% inorganic powder. The physico-chemical evaluation from compositional and morphological points of view was followed by the biological assessment of powder bioactivity and scaffold biocompatibility. SEM investigation highlighted a significant reduction in fiber diameter, from around 3 μm to less than 100 nm after the loading stage, while EDX and FTIR spectra confirmed the existence of embedded mineral entities. The silicate phases were found be highly bioactive after 4 weeks of immersion in SBF, enriching the potential of the polymeric host that provides only biocompatibility and bioresorbability. Moreover, the cellular tests indicated a slight decrease in cell viability over the short-term, a compromise that can be accepted if the overall benefits of such multifunctional composites are considered
