Les catalogues de peuples sages

Cet article traite des catalogues des peuples perçus et représentés comme sages dans le monde grec, depuis leur genèse durant la période hellénistique jusqu’à leurexploitationpar les chrétiens. Attentive à leurs dimensions chronologique, généalogique et topologique, cette étude se focalise sur les fonctions de ces catalogues. Elle met ainsi en exergue leur rôle dans les représentations de la transmission des savoirs ainsi que dans les débats interculturels et interreligieux des premiers siècles de notre ère.The Wise Peoples’ Catalogues: Functions and Contexts of Use. This article deals with catalogues of peoples that are perceived and represented as wise in the Greek world, from their construction in the Hellenistic period until their exploitation by the Christians. By analysing their chronological, genealogical and topological dimensions, this paper focuses on the functions of these catalogues: it emphasises the role they played in the representations of the knowledge transmission process as well as in interreligious and intercultural debates in the Greco-Roman period

This article deals with the issue of the authenticity of three Jewish authors whose works have not been preserved. Their names are only known to us through a fragment from Anatolius of Laodicaea, which is cited by Eusebius of Caesarea. These Jewish authors are Mousaios and two Agathoboulois. This paper analyzes the Christian context in which these names have reached us. It also argues that the corpus of the Jewish texts written in Greek was larger than that which the remaining fragments and citations may suggest.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

La pratique de la citation dans le Contre Apion de Flavius Josèphe

This article deals with Josephus’ practice of citation in his Against Apion (with references to the Antiquities), in a philological perspective. I shall focus specifically on on the representation of the citation process in the Against Apion, the status of the authors quoted, the forms of the citations (direct / indirect speech), and the faithfulness of the quotations to the text as preserved through direct transmission. I shall attempt to demonstrate that Josephus tampered with the primary meaning of the citations for apologetic purposes. I shall argue, however, that he is more likely to have done so by manipulating the context in which he inserted the citation than by modifying the text quoted.Cet article se propose d’étudier dans une perspective philologique la pratique citationnelle de Josèphe dans le Contre Apion, avec des références aux Antiquités judéennes. Je me focaliserai particulièrement sur la représentation du procédé citationnel par Josèphe, sur le statut des auteurs cités, sur les formes (discours direct ou indirect) de ces citations, leur alternance et la signification de cette alternance, et enfin, sur la fidélité du texte des citations par rapport au texte tel que la tradition directe nous l’a transmis. Je tenterai ainsi de montrer que c’est davantage par l’exploitation du contexte dans lequel est insérée la citation que par des modifications textuelles que Josèphe parvient à infléchir le sens des citations en faveur des buts apologétiques qu’il poursuit.Inowlocki Sabrina.
