    Women and Hoax News Processing on WhatsApp

    The word hoax became popular with the development of technology that has potentially increased the circulation of hoax news. One of the ways hoax news circulates is through mobile instant messaging applications like WhatsApp, where users can interact directly, or between individuals who are members of a group. In Indonesia, by 2017, WhatsApp was the most used and the longestused mobile instant messaging application, having 35.87 million users. This study focuses on women using WhatsApp, as previous studies have shown that women dominate social media use in Indonesia. Using the elaboration likelihood model, this study aimed to investigate how women process hoax messages about child abduction on WhatsApp. The results of research through interviews and surveys indicate that women tend to process hoax messages about the abduction of children through peripheral lines. The lack of media literacy and the tendency to prioritize the emotional aspects of a story make some women vulnerable to spreading hoaxes through WhatsApp. In this study, the researchers recommend a digital empowerment movement to improve women\u27s media literacy through an online lecture model on WhatsApp. This program should be professionally managed by experts or academics from relevant fields of study

    Bayesian segregation analysis of milk flow in Swiss dairy cattle using Gibbs sampling

    Segregation analyses with Gibbs sampling were applied to investigate the mode of inheritance and to estimate the genetic parameters of milk flow of Swiss dairy cattle. The data consisted of 204 397, 655 989 and 40 242 lactation records of milk flow in Brown Swiss, Simmental and Holstein cattle, respectively (4 to 22 years). Separate genetic analyses of first and multiple lactations were carried out for each breed. The results show that genetic parameters especially polygenic variance and heritability of milk flow in the first lactation were very similar under both mixed inheritance (polygenes + major gene) and polygenic models. Segregation analyses yielded very low major gene variances which favour the polygenic determinism of milk flow. Heritabilities and repeatabilities of milk flow in both Brown Swiss and Simmental were high (0.44 to 0.48 and 0.54 to 0.59, respectively). The heritability of milk flow based on scores of milking ability in Holstein was intermediate (0.25). Variance components and heritabilities in the first lactation were slightly larger than those estimates for multiple lactations. The results suggest that milk flow (the quantity of milk per minute of milking) is a relevant measurement to characterise the cows milking ability which is a good candidate trait to be evaluated for a possible inclusion in the selection objectives in dairy cattle

    Pemanfaatan Media Tik Simulasi Sebagai Substitute Eksperimen Pada Pembelajaran Alat Ukur Di SMP

    The purpose of this study are: to determine an increase in cognitive learning outcomes, to grow the students science process skills, to form students character, to improve students activities, and to grow positive attitudes of students after they use of simulation ICT media as a substitute experiments on learning measuring instruments. The research was conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2013/2014 in junior high school Muhammadiyah Pringsewu. The research used purposive sampling technique, select one class from all over the existing class VII. Sample of research was 25 students of class VII 1. The research design is used an One-Shot Case Study. Based on the results of a study using simulation ICT media as a substitute experiments on measuring instruments learning increased cognitive learning outcomes of students, can grow science process skill of students, form the character of students, to improve students activities, and to grow a positive attitude of students.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar ranah kognitif, menumbuhkan KPS, membentuk karakter, mengembangkan aktivitas, dan menumbuhkan sikap positif siswa setelah pemanfaatan media TIK simulasi sebagai substitute eksperimen pada pembelajaran alat ukur. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2013/2014 di SMP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu, Kabupaten Pringsewu. Penelitian menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sehingga dipilih satu kelas dari seluruh kelas VII yang ada. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 25 siswa dari kelas VII 1. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian memanfaatkan media TIK simulasi sebagai substitute eksperimen pada pembelajaran alat ukur diketahui terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa, dapat menumbuhkan KPS siswa, dapat membentuk karakter siswa, dapat mengembangkan aktivitas siswa, dan dapat menumbuhkan sikap positif siswa
