Hybrid Bounds on Twisted L-Functions Associated to Modular Forms
For a primitive holomorphic cusp form of even weight , level
, and a Dirichlet character mod with , we establish a
new hybrid subconvexity bound for , which improves upon
all known hybrid bounds. This is done via amplification and taking advantage of
a shifted convolution sum of two variables defined and analyzed in a recent
paper of Hoffstein and Hulse.Comment: Updated version removes the restriction of level being square-fre
The Relationships of the Type of Needle and the Flushing of the Needle with the Satisfactory Rate of Thyroid Nodule Fine Needle Biopsy
Objective: To explore the factors that affect the satisfactory rate of fine needle aspiration biospy(FBAB)sampling of thyroid nodules and the effects of different needle types and needle flushing methods on the satisfactory rate of FNAB sampling. Methods: The clinical data of 190 patients with thyroid nodules (200 nodules in total) who underwent FNAB from June 2020 to December 2020 were analyzed. The relationship of the satisfaction rate of sampling with the type of puncture needle and the flushing method of the puncture needle was analyzed. Results: In 200 thyroid nodules, we found that the nondiagnostic rate (37%) with a larger needle (22G) was lower than that with a smaller needle (25G) (55%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). In the analysis of the comparison of the satisfaction rate of the flushing of the puncture needle, it was found that the nondiagnostic rate of the flushing method was lower (24%) than that of the nonflushing method (68%), with a statistically significant difference (< 0.05). In the randomized test according to the size of the puncture needle and the flushing method, the nondiagnostic rates of the four groups (25G needle with flushing group, 25G needle without flushing group, 22G needle with flushing group and 22G needle without flushing group) were 34%, 76%, 14% and 60%, respectively. Moreover, there was no significant change in the diagnosis rate of benign and malignant lesions in the obtained samples (p=0.912). Conclusion: In fine-needle biopsy of thyroid nodules, a larger needle should be used in combination with the flushing method to reduce the nondiagnostic rate and improve the pathological diagnosis rate
Freeware Live Forensics tools evaluation and operation tips
Highlighted by a digital forensics investigation specialists from FBI in DFRWS 2006, live forensics investigations already become one of the most important procedures in digital forensics investigations. Many digital forensics investigation product companies have already joint the battlefield in developing their only live forensics tools. However, similar to the development trend in traditional digital forensics, evaluation criteria for Live Digital Forensics could only be standardized after operating procedures being standardized. One way to standardize the Live Digital Forensics Investigation procedure is to define the investigation objectives around the core digital forensics principles. Through the use of FORZA framework, a more legal and investigation oriented live digital forensics investigation procedures have been outlined. Based on the FORZA based procedure, a set of operation best practices, operational tips and evaluation criteria was derived. Using the derived criteria, various free Live Forensics toolkits including Windows Forensics Toolchest (WFT), Incident Response Collection Report (IRCR), First Responders Evidence Disk (FRED) and Computer Online Forensic Evidence (COFEE) were evaluated and reported in this paper

Ambassadors of Multiplicities: Young String Players in the Contemporary Classical Music Collective Called “Face the Music”
This study explores the experiences of young string players in a music collective called Face the Music. The organization consists of musicians aged 10 to 18, and is dedicated to the preparation and performance of music by living classical composers. I begin with the assertion that contemporary classical music, hereinafter referred to as contemporary music, is often misinterpreted and underappreciated by the general public, and even musicians themselves. There is minimal research exploring what contemporary classical music education is or could be, especially regarding non-professional musicians and/or adolescents. From this starting point, I explore the experiences of 18 members, six coaches, and one parent. Data includes focus group interviews with young string players in quartet settings, individual interviews with coaches, field notes, and a variety of musical artifacts. Face the Music musicians were highly flexible and versatile musicians; they identified as performers, composers, and improvisers—and possibly rebels of some kind. In addition to these subjectivities, their most prominent characteristic was revealed in their “polytonal roles,” a concept I explicate. Findings suggest complex relationships between their emotions and contemporary music. Several disparate benefits, especially social benefits, were manifested through the idea of community. Coaches at Face the Music perceived their roles as pushing the boundaries of traditional classical music training and promoting living composers. The unsureness and uncertainty from the young string players also reflect the ambiguous nature of contemporary music. Findings suggest that there is a space for music educators to re-conceptualize contemporary classical music education for young musicians
