Porous hydroxyapatite is a crystalline molecule composed of calcium and phosphorus which can be used as a macroporous microcarrier. Macroporoous microcarrier is one of tissue engineering technology that consist of support matrix and can be used as a cell culture medium in bioreactor. Protein foaming-starch consolidation method is choosed for manufacturing porous hydroxyapatite with egg yolk as a pore-forming agent. The purpose of this research is to study the influence of process variables i.e yolk addition (27 - 33 gr), sintering temperature (1200oC - 1300oC), and drying temperature (170oC - 190oC) toward porous hydroxyapatite properties such as compressive strenght, porosity and pore size made by protein foaming – starch consolidation methode. The experimental resulted porous hydroxyapatite with compressive strength in range of 4.55 - 11.05 MPa, porosity in rang of 25.95 - 58.74% and pore size in range of 15.08 - 33.56 μm

Background : Osteoporosis is bone disease which is usually occcured. It is also called silent disease due toassymptomatic symptons until fracture. Osteopenia prevalence in Indonesia was 41,8% and osteoporosis prevalence was 10,3% (2005). The study objective is to determine physical activity and other factors associated with bone mass density. Method: A cross-sectional study is implemented to employee of Department Education Youth and Sport of West Sumatera Province who examined the bone mass density by Fonterra Brands Indonesia Company month February year 2009. Result : The result showed that samples consist of 52,1% men, 64,9% university graduated, 10,4% have history osteoporosis in family and 22,2% women respondents using contraceptive. Calcium intake of respondents is 100% low, phospor and vitamin\ D intake more is 28,7% and 18,1% respectively. Respondents physical activity is 40,4% low, 41,5% obese, 16% osteoporosis and 40,4% osteopenia. Conclussion: Regression correlation analysis result shows that the higher bone mass density is correlated by increasing physical activity, (r = 0,225). Based on the result, the employees should increase physical activity especially sport for bone density underultraviolet exposure in the morning and afternoon therefore vitamin D in phosphor and calcium could be absorbed easilty
