The Two Roads to "Intrinsic Charm" in B Decays
We describe two complementary ways to show the presence of higher order
effects in the 1/m_Q expansion for inclusive B decays that have been dubbed
"Intrinsic Charm". Apart from the lessons they can teach us about QCD's
nonperturbative dynamics their consideration is relevant for precise
extractions of |V_{cb}|: for they complement the estimate of the potential
impact of 1/m_Q^4 contributions. We draw semiquantitative conclusions for the
expected scale of Weak Annihilation in semileptonic B decays, both for its
valence and non-valence components.Comment: 17 pages, 3 figure
Semileptonic width ratios among beauty hadrons
We present predictions based on the heavy quark expansion in QCD. We find
SU(3) breaking in B mesons suppressed in the framework of the HQE. B_s is
expected to have the semileptonic width about 1% lower and Lambda_b about 3%
higher when compared to Gamma_{sl}(B_d). The largest partial-rate preasymptotic
effect is Pauli interference in the b-->u ell nu channel in Lambda_b, about
+10%. We point out that the Omega_b semileptonic width is expected not to
exceed that of B_d and may turn out to be the smallest among stable b hadrons
despite the large mass. The underlying differences with phase-space models are
briefly addressed through the heavy mass expansion.Comment: 19 page
Conclusions from CDF Results on CP Violation in D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-, K^+K^- and Future Tasks
Within the Standard Model (SM) one predicts both direct and indirect CP
violation in D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-, K^+K^- transitions, although the effects are
tiny: Indirect CP asymmetry cannot exceed O(10^{-4}), probably even O(10^{-5});
direct effects are estimated at not larger than 10^{-4}. At B factories direct
and indirect asymmetries have been studied with /\tau_{D^0} ~ 1; no CP
asymmetry was found with an upper bound of about 1%. CDF has shown intriguing
data on CP violation in D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^- [K^+K^-] with /\tau_{D^0} ~ 2.4
[2.65]. Also, CDF has not seen any CP violation. For direct CP asymmetry, CDF
has a sensitivity similar to the combination of the B factories, yet for
indirect CP violation it yields a significantly smaller sensitivity of
a_{cp}^{ind}=(-0.01 +- 0.06_{stat} +- 0.05_{syst})% due to it being based on
longer decay times. New Physics models (NP) like Little Higgs Models with
T-Parity (LHT) can produce an indirect CP asymmetry up to 1%; CDF's findings
thus cover the upper range of realistic NP predictions ~ 0.1 - 1%. One hopes
that LHCb and a Super-Flavour Factory will probe the lower range down to
~0.01%. Such non-ad-hoc NP like LHT cannot enhance direct CP violation
significantly over the SM level in D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-, K^+K^- and D^{\pm} \to
\pi^{\pm}K^+K^- transitions, but others might well do so.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure. V2 has minor corrections and corresponds to the

Higher Order Power Corrections in Inclusive B Decays
We discuss order 1/m_b^4 and 1/m_b^5 corrections in inclusive semileptonic
decay of a meson. We identify relevant hadronic matrix elements of
dimension seven and eight and estimate them using the ground-state saturation
approximation. Within this approach the effects on the integrated rate and on
kinematic moments are estimated. The overall relative shift in V_{cb} turns out
about +0.4% as applied to the existing fits. Similar estimates are presented
for B -> X_s+\gamma decays.Comment: 30 pages, 16 figure
B-> D* zero-recoil formfactor and the heavy quark expansion in QCD: a systematic study
We present a QCD analysis of heavy quark mesons focussing on the B -> D*
formfactor at zero recoil, F_D*(1). An advanced treatment of the perturbative
corrections in the Wilsonian approach is presented. We estimate the
higher-order power corrections to the OPE sum rule and describe a refined
analysis of the nonresonant continuum contribution. In the framework of a
model-independent approach, we show that the inelastic contribution in the
phenomenological part of the OPE is related to the mQ-dependence of the
hyperfine splitting and conclude that the former is large, lowering the
prediction for F_D*(1) down to about 0.86. This likewise implies an enhanced
yield of radial and D-wave charm excitations in semileptonic B decays and
alleviates the problem with the inclusive yield of the wide excited states. We
also apply the approach to the expectation values of dimension 7 and 8 local
operators and to a few other issues in the heavy quark expansion.Comment: 70 pages, 13 figure
On CP Asymmetries in Two-, Three- and Four-Body D Decays
Indirect and direct CP violations have been established in K_L and B_d
decays. They have been found in two-body decay channels -- with the exception
of K_L to pi^+ pi^- e^+ e^- transitions. Evidence for direct CP asymmetry has
just appeared in LHCb data on A_{CP}(D^0 to K^+ K^-) - A_{CP}(D^0 to pi^+ pi^-)
with 3.5 sigma significance. Manifestations of New Dynamics (ND) can appear in
CP asymmetries just below experimental bounds. We discuss D^{\pm}_{(s)},
D^0/\bar D^0 and D_L/D_S transitions to 2-, 3- and 4-body final states with a
comment on predictions for inclusive vs. exclusive CP asymmetries. In
particular we discuss T asymmetries in D to h_1 h_2 l^+ l^- in analogy with K_L
to pi^+ pi^- e^+ e^- transitions due to interference between M1, internal
bremsstrahlung and possible E1 amplitudes. Such an effect depends on the
strength of CP violation originating from the ND -- as discussed here for
Little Higgs Models with T parity and non-minimal Higgs sectors -- but also in
the interferences between these amplitudes even in the Standard Model (SM).
More general lessons can be learnt for T asymmetries in non-leptonic D decays
like D to h_1h_2 h_3 h_4. Such manifestations of ND can be tested at LHCb and
other Super-Flavour Factories like the projects at KEK near Tokyo and at Tor

Proposed New Antiproton Experiments at Fermilab
Fermilab operates the world's most intense source of antiprotons. Recently
various experiments have been proposed that can use those antiprotons either
parasitically during Tevatron Collider running or after the Tevatron Collider
finishes in about 2010. We discuss the physics goals and prospects of the

New Physics Models of Direct CP Violation in Charm Decays
In view of the recent LHCb measurement of Delta A_CP, the difference between
the time-integrated CP asymmetries in D --> K+K- and D --> pi+pi- decays, we
perform a comparative study of the possible impact of New Physics degrees of
freedom on the direct CP asymmetries in singly Cabibbo suppressed D meson
decays. We systematically discuss scenarios with a minimal set of new degrees
of freedom that have renormalizable couplings to the SM particles and that are
heavy enough such that their effects on the D meson decays can be described by
local operators. We take into account both constraints from low energy flavor
observables, in particular D0-D0bar mixing, and from direct searches. While
models that explain the large measured value for Delta A_CP with chirally
enhanced chromomagnetic penguins are least constrained, we identify a few
viable models that contribute to the D meson decays at tree level or through
loop induced QCD penguins. We emphasize that such models motivate direct

events at the Next Linear Collider: colour structure of top signal and irreducible background
We examine the colour structure and charged particle yield for both the signal and the irreducible background processes contributing to
\eebbww\ production close to the \ttb\ threshold. The charged particle
multiplicity for the various components of the cross section is computed as a
function of several kinematic variables. Our study may have important
implications for recently proposed studies of interconnection phenomena in

On relativization of the Sommerfeld-Gamow-Sakharov factor
The Sommerfeld-Gamow-Sakharov factor is considered for the general case of
arbitrary masses and energies. It is shown that the scalar triangular one-loop
diagram gives the Coulomb singularity in radiative corrections at the
threshold. The singular part of the correction is factorized at the complete
Born cross section regardless of its partial wave decomposition. Different
