    Intercultural communication; that is, face-to-face communication between people from different cultural background, often has hindrances because of some factors such as the vocabulary, the discourse pattern and the concept of time. Thus, this paper will analyze how these factors can hinder the intercultural communication between the Asians and Americans and what might become the result of the intercultural miscommunication, especially in business contexts

    As a type of media text, newspaper has an important role in human\u27s life because it presents various local, national and International information and events. In order to attract readers\u27 attention, journalists make the headlines as ambiguous and confusing as possible so that readers are curious to know the content of the whole story and they would read it. Moreover, in presenting the information or events, different reporters will have different linguistic choices which include the choice of words and expressions and different linguistic structures. Thus, this paper analyzes how the different linguistic choices and structures used in the headlines of The Jakarta Post and Indonesian Daily News would construct different linguistic representations of events in the world

    This research dealt with the kinds of turn-taking irregularities in the conversation among the four main African American characters in the movie "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", the reasons of those kinds of turn-taking irregularities, and which reason occurred the most frequently. This research was descriptive qualitative. The findings showed that the four African American characters in the movie tended to overlap others because they wanted to clarify, reject, or complete others\u27 utterance, and show annoyance
