The study on antioxidant activity of the maltodextrin-coated cerium oxide nanoparticles was carried out. CeO[под]2 nanoparticles exhibit properties that mimic natural antioxidant enzymes (catalase and peroxidase) and are capable of neutralizing hydroxyl radicals

Forensic interviewing of mentally disordered suspects: The impact of interview style on investigation outcomes.

The investigative interviewing of a vulnerable suspect is a complex and difficult task. Current best practice advocates for the use of open questions in order to elicit a free recall. However, those with mental health conditions have limited cognitive abilities that relate to free recall and episodic memory, and there is emerging evidence that suggests open questions may not always be most suitable for the vulnerable interviewee. As such, the present study examined the impact of two different interview models (best practice v modified interview) on the amount and accuracy of investigation relevant information obtained within an experimental vulnerable ‘suspect’ sample. Participants engaged in two tasks; a minor transgression and a matched non-transgression. Each participant was then subject to either a best practice (containing largely open questions) or a modified interview (containing largely closed questions). Vulnerable participants provided a significantly higher and more accurate amount of investigation relevant information during the modified interview rather than the best practice interview. In addition, participants that have mental health conditions sought more clarifications during the best practice interviews. The type of interview did not impact upon the level of vulnerability displayed. Our findings challenge current best practice in that vulnerable participants performed worse in interviews containing more open questions than closed questions. These findings add to the emerging evidence base that vulnerable individuals may require an alternative method of questioning, including the use of closed questions as ‘scaffolding’ during an investigative interview

Relevance of the work is due to the need to study the mineralogy of gold deposits in the Russian Far East, information about which is extremely scarce. Purpose of the work: study of the chemical composition of tourmaline from Mnogovershinnoe ore deposit, Khabarovsk Krai (Far East). Methodology of research: The chemical composition of minerals and BSE images were obtained using a Jeol JSM-6480 electron microscope equipped with an Inca Energy-350 EDS (analyst is N. N. Koshlyakova, Department of Petrology, Lomonosov Moscow State University). Electron microscope shooting environment: accelerating voltage is 15 kV, measuring current for the sample is 30 ± 0.1 nA. XPP corrections were used for the adjustment procedure (INCA program, version 17a). Results. The obtained data show that tourmalines of the Mnogovershinnoe deposit differ in their chemical composition and type of substitution. All studied tourmalines by these parameters can be divided into two groups. Group 1 includes schorl, foitite, and pegmatoids feruvite, as well as schorl and foitite of the first generation, tourmaline-muscovite-quartz veinlet in sandstones. Group 2 includes schorl of the second generation, tourmaline- muscovite quartz veinlet, schorl and foitite of quartz-tourmaline metasomatites, and cement dravite of quartz breccia. Conclusions. Tourmalines of the post-ore mineral associations of the Mnogovershinnoe gold deposit are divided into two groups characterized by different chemical composition and substitutions. Tourmalines of the first group with substitutions Fe ↔ Mg and X-vacancy + Al ↔ Na + R2+ are confined to pegmatoids and were formed in reducing or weakly oxidative conditions. Later tourmalines of the second group with substitutions Fe3+ ↔ Al and Al + O2– ↔ R2++ OH– indicate a possible porphyry-style mineralization and its formation during lowering oxidative potential

ASTRACT. The overall aim of this research is to investigate a regulated state mechanism established in economic relations between the Soviet state and industry during the period of New Economic Policy (NEP) in Russia in 1921- 23. Within this paper, the characteristics of the processes of denationalization, leasing of enterprises, organization of trusts and syndicates, search for the new forms of organization and management of industrial production are presented. The research focuses attention on laws and regulations in industrial area. Historical evidence suggest that co-existence of various property forms and lease relations during the NEP period could not lead to the fully operational industrial enterprises, including large ones, since full-fledged market environment is necessary for market to function successfully

Aim. To study the prevalence and clinical features of cardio-respiratory disease (CRD): coronary heart disease (CHD) + chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). To assess the long-term effectiveness of a myocardial cytoprotector, trimetazidine MB, as a part of complex therapy.Material and methods. The retrospective analysis of 2446 medical histories assessed CRD prevalence and clinical features. The subjects were randomised into two groups: Group I (135 patients with CHD and severe COPD) and Group II (96 individuals with CHD and moderate COPD). Group I was administered trimetazidine MB (70 mg/d) for one year. Control assessments took place every three months.Results. CRD was more prevalent in elderly CHD patients (56,7%). The combination of CHD and COPD was characterized by higher risk of Q-wave myocardial infarction (MI), unstable angina, complex arrhythmias, and early CHD progression, and increased time of silent myocardial ischemia. After one year of trimetazidine MB treatment, Group I demonstrated a significant decrease in angina episode incidence and silent myocardial ischemia time (p<0,05); in 64,4% of the patients, regression of cardiac symptoms and extrasystolia incidence were also observed.Conclusion. Long-term trimetazidine MB therapy, as a part of complex treatment, normalised cardiovascular parameters, reduced complication risk, and improved prognosis in CRD patients, without any substantial adverse effects
