Ouachita instructor Thomas Eaton to speak at 2015 Ozark Creative Writers Conference

Dr. Thomas Eaton, a composition instructor for Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Language and Literature, will be a guest speaker at the 2015 Ozark Creative Writers Conference in Eureka Springs, Ark., Oct. 8-11. He will present “Supernatural Affection & American Gothic: Landscape as Spirit of the Western Motif.

Tara Wait and Jennifer Wixon to present senior art exhibits at Ouachita April 27-May 6

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host Tara Wait and Jennifer Wixon’s senior art exhibits April 27-May 6. Wait’s exhibit will be held in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery on the first floor of Moses-Provine Hall. Wixon’s exhibit will be in the second floor Adams Gallery. Both exhibits are free and open to the public. Receptions for both seniors will also be held in the gallery, with Wixon’s on April 27 at 7 p.m. and Wait’s on May 2 at 5 p.m

Hannah Fender to present sophomore recital at Ouachita Oct. 30

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Hannah Fender in her sophomore recital on Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. The performance will be held in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall and is free and open to the public

Ouachita and Arkadelphia Philharmonic Club to host Jonesboro Special Needs Music Program in concert Oct. 13

Ouachita Baptist University’s Huckabee School of Education and School of Fine Arts along with the Arkadelphia Philharmonic Club will present “The Role of Music in the Lives of Children & Adults with Special Needs” Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. The free concert will feature members of the Jonesboro Special Needs Music Program and will be held in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center. Ouachita Online faculty and staff seek to enhance online learning options

In an effort to expand Ouachita Baptist University’s borders to include non-residential online students, the university launched Ouachita Online courses in January 2015. Ouachita Baptist University’s 2015 Ouachitonian yearbook recently received recognition in two national critiques of college yearbooks. The Ouachitonian received the All-American rating from Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) and the Gold Medalist rating from Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA)

Bateman and Jones to present student recitals at Ouachita Oct. 23

Ouachita Theatre Arts to present “Second Star to the Right” Feb. 19-23

Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present “Second Star to the Right” Feb. 19-23 as part of its new student-produced theatre initiative, The Muse Project. Performances will take place in Verser Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Feb.19-21 and Feb. 23 as well as a 2:30 matinee on Sunday, Feb. 22. Tickets are $10 each
