Horndeski Gravity and the Violation of Reverse Isoperimetric Inequality
We consider Einstein-Horndeski-Maxwell gravity, together with a cosmological
constant and multiple Horndeski axions. We construct charged AdS planar black
holes in general dimensions where the Horndeski anxions span over the planar
directions. We analyse the thermodynamics and obtain the black hole volumes. We
show that the reverse isoperimetric inequality can be violated, implying that
these black holes can store information more efficiently than the Schwarzschild
black hole.Comment: Latex, 25 pages, 1 figure, references adde
An Evaluation of Container Development Strategies in the Port of Taichung
AbstractThe objective of this study is to examine the container development strategies in the port of Taichung from the viewpoints of carriers, port authorities and shipping academics. The six most important strategic attributes from the all respondents perceptions are Enhancing the services of direct shipping with Mainland China, simplified customs procedures, simplified administrative procedures, developing service routes with Hong Kong and Mainland China, improving port information systems, and flexible rate to response market change. Based on a factor analysis, the findings reflect that price and incentive strategic dimension was the most import strategic dimension, followed by marketing and direct shipping with Mainland China as well as reorganization and information service strategic dimensions. In addition, the perceived implemented period for container development strategic attributes for the Taichung Port was also investigated in this study. Results indicated that four development strategies stood out as being short-term need to perform to all respondents were providing one-stop shopping services for carriers, flexible rate to response market change, enhancing employee training and knowledge, and strengthening port marketing and promotion. Theoretical and managerial implications of the research findings are discussed
Gap Anisotropy in Iron-Based Superconductors: A Point-Contact Andreev Reflection Study of BaFeNiAs Single Crystals
We report a systematic investigation on c-axis point-contact Andreev
reflection (PCAR) in BaFeNiAs superconducting single crystals
from underdoped to overdoped regions (0.075 ). At optimal
doping () the PCAR spectrum feature the structures of two
superconducting gap and electron-boson coupling mode. In the scenario,
quantitative analysis using a generalized Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK)
formalism with two gaps: one isotropic and another angle dependent, suggest a
nodeless state in strong-coupling limit with gap minima on the Fermi surfaces.
Upon crossing above the optimal doping (), the PCAR spectrum show an
in-gap sharp narrow peak at low bias, in contrast to the case of underdoped
samples (), signaling the onset of deepened gap minima or nodes in the
superconducting gap. This result provides evidence of the modulation of the gap
amplitude with doping concentration, consistent with the calculations for the
orbital dependent pair interaction mediated by the antiferromagnetic spin
fluctuations.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
(E)-N′-(4-Hydroxybenzylidene)-2-methoxybenzohydrazide
The title compound, C15H14N2O3, exists in the E configuration with respect to the central methylidene unit. The dihedral angle between the two substituted benzene rings is 22.0 (2)°. Within the molecule there is an intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond involving the hydrozide H atom and the O atom of the methoxy substituent on the adjacent phenyl ring. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked through intermolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains along the b direction
Applying contrastive pre-training for depression and anxiety risk prediction in type 2 diabetes patients based on heterogeneous electronic health records: a primary healthcare case study
Objective:
Due to heterogeneity and limited medical data in primary healthcare services (PHS), assessing the psychological risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in PHS is difficult. Using unsupervised contrastive pre-training, we proposed a deep learning framework named depression and anxiety prediction (DAP) to predict depression and anxiety in T2DM patients.
//
Materials and Methods:
The DAP model consists of two sub-models. Firstly, the pre-trained model of DAP used unlabeled discharge records of 85 085 T2DM patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University for unsupervised contrastive learning on heterogeneous electronic health records (EHRs). Secondly, the fine-tuned model of DAP used case–control cohorts (17 491 patients) selected from 149 596 T2DM patients’ EHRs in the Nanjing Health Information Platform (NHIP). The DAP model was validated in 1028 patients from PHS in NHIP. Evaluation included receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (ROC-AUC) and precision-recall area under the curve (PR-AUC), and decision curve analysis (DCA).
//
Results:
The pre-training step allowed the DAP model to converge at a faster rate. The fine-tuned DAP model significantly outperformed the baseline models (logistic regression, extreme gradient boosting, and random forest) with ROC-AUC of 0.91±0.028 and PR-AUC of 0.80±0.067 in 10-fold internal validation, and with ROC-AUC of 0.75 ± 0.045 and PR-AUC of 0.47 ± 0.081 in external validation. The DCA indicate the clinical potential of the DAP model.
//
Conclusion:
The DAP model effectively predicted post-discharge depression and anxiety in T2DM patients from PHS, reducing data fragmentation and limitations. This study highlights the DAP model’s potential for early detection and intervention in depression and anxiety, improving outcomes for diabetes patients
A study of the inclusion complex formed between cucurbit[8]uril and isonicotinic acid
The complexation between cucurbit[8]uril, Q[8], and isonicotinic acid has been studied using 1H NMR spectroscopy, UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The results revealed that the 2:1 inclusion complex (4-PA)2@Q[8]·25H2O is formed, with two guests simultaneously encapsulated in the hydrophobic cavity; the mean planes of the guests are 3.535 Å apart. Scientometric trends and knowledge maps of global health systems research
Background: In the last few decades, health systems research (HSR) has garnered much attention with a rapid increase in the related literature. This study aims to review and evaluate the global progress in HSR and assess the current quantitative trends. Methods: Based on data from the Web of Science database, scientometric methods and knowledge visualization techniques were applied to evaluate global scientific production and develop trends of HSR from 1900 to 2012. Results: HSR has increased rapidly over the past 20 years. Currently, there are 28,787 research articles published in 3,674 journals that are listed in 140 Web of Science subject categories. The research in this field has mainly focused on public, environmental and occupational health (6,178, 21.46%), health care sciences and services (5,840, 20.29%), and general and internal medicine (3,783, 13.14%). The top 10 journals had published 2,969 (10.31%) articles and received 5,229 local citations and 40,271 global citations. The top 20 authors together contributed 628 papers, which accounted for a 2.18% share in the cumulative worldwide publications. The most productive author was McKee, from the London School of Hygiene \& Tropical Medicine, with 48 articles. In addition, USA and American institutions ranked the first in health system research productivity, with high citation times, followed by the UK and Canada. Conclusions: HSR is an interdisciplinary area. Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries showed they are the leading nations in HSR. Meanwhile, American and Canadian institutions and the World Health Organization play a dominant role in the production, collaboration, and citation of high quality articles. Moreover, health policy and analysis research, health systems and sub-systems research, healthcare and services research, health, epidemiology and economics of communicable and non-communicable diseases, primary care research, health economics and health costs, and pharmacy of hospital have been identified as the mainstream topics in HSR fields. These findings will provide evidence of the current status and trends in HSR all over the world, as well as clues to the impact of this popular topic; thus, helping scientific researchers and policy makers understand the panorama of HSR and predict the dynamic directions of research
Remote generation of entanglement for individual atoms via optical fibers
The generation of atomic entanglement is discussed in a system that atoms are
trapped in separate cavities which are connected via optical fibers. Two
distant atoms can be projected to Bell-state by synchronized turning off the
local laser fields and then performing a single quantum measurement by a
distant controller. The distinct advantage of this scheme is that it works in a
regime that , which makes the scheme insensitive to
cavity strong leakage. Moreover, the fidelity is not affected by atomic
spontaneous emission.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Disrupted Functional Connectivity of Cornu Ammonis Subregions in Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Longitudinal Resting-State fMRI Study
Background: The cornu ammonis (CA), as part of the hippocampal formation, represents a primary target region of neural degeneration in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Previous studies have revealed subtle structural deficits of the CA subregions (CA1-CA3, bilateral) in aMCI; however, it is not clear how the network function is impacted by aMCI. The present study examined longitudinal changes in resting state functional connectivity (FC) of each CA subregion and how these changes relate to neuropsychological profiles in aMCI.Methods: Twenty aMCI and 20 healthy control (HC) participants underwent longitudinal cognitive assessment and resting state functional MRI scans at baseline and 15 months afterward. Imaging data were processed with published routines in SPM8 and CONN software. Two-way analysis of covariance was performed with covariates of age, gender, education level, follow up interval, gray matter volume, mean FD, as well as global correlation (GCOR). Pearson’s correlation was conducted to evaluate the relationship between the longitudinal changes in CA subregional FC and neuropsychological performance in aMCI subjects.Results: Resting state FC between the right CA1 and right middle temporal gyrus (MTG) as well as between the left CA2 and bilateral cuneal cortex (CC) were decreased in aMCI subjects as compared to HC. Longitudinal decrease in FC between the right CA1 and right MTG was correlated with reduced capacity of episodic memory in aMCI subjects.Conclusion: The current findings suggest functional alterations in the CA subregions. CA1 connectivity with the middle temporal cortex may represent an important neural marker of memory dysfunction in aMCI
