    A multi-task learning CNN for image steganalysis

    Convolutional neural network (CNN) based image steganalysis are increasingly popular because of their superiority in accuracy. The most straightforward way to employ CNN for image steganalysis is to learn a CNN-based classifier to distinguish whether secret messages have been embedded into an image. However, it is difficult to learn such a classifier because of the weak stego signals and the limited useful information. To address this issue, in this paper, a multi-task learning CNN is proposed. In addition to the typical use of CNN, learning a CNN-based classifier for the whole image, our multi-task CNN is learned with an auxiliary task of the pixel binary classification, estimating whether each pixel in an image has been modified due to steganography. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to employ CNN to perform the pixel-level classification of such type. Experimental results have justified the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed multi-task learning CNN

    No Fun no Use? The Impact of Gamification on User’s Continuous Usage Intention toward E-Business App

    Gamification as an internal incentive method has been widely adopted in practice. Compared with the traditional external rewards, internal rewards can stimulate the enthusiasm of users. This paper,therefore,explores and constructs a model on how gamification (herein composed of three dimensions: sense of achievement, social influence and sense of ownership) affects user’s continuance intention from the perspective of intrinsic motivation (herein composed of three dimensions: self-presentation, entertainment and self-efficacy). Through the multiple regression analysis of 456 e-shoppers sample data by using the software of SMARTPLS 3.0, we draw the following five conclusions: gamification was positively correlated with self-presentation, entertainment and self-efficacy; sense of achievement, social influence and sense of ownership, significantly positively affected self-presentation, entertainment and self-efficacy; there is no correlation between self-presentation and users\u27 continuance intention; entertainment and self-efficacy are positively correlated with users\u27 continuance intention; and entertainment and self-efficacy play a mediation role between gamification and users\u27 continuance intention

    Basic English Writing: An Experimental Course Structure Against Semantic Misinterpretation In Undergraduate Student Writing

    Course designs for Basic English Writing classes vary from one course to another. The objective of this study was to investigate the semantic misinterpretation of English words found in the English compositions written by native-Chinese-speaking undergraduate students and to overcome if such a barrier occurred in the process of writing. First, this study made use of both linguistic and literary theories in an attempt of exemplifying the existence of the translation and semantic misinterpretation adopted by undergraduate students when writing in English. This hypothesis could be proved by the detached relation between the sign and the referent, or in Saussure’s terminology, between the signifier and the signified, in particular in translating from Chinese into English. This study included an experimental course structure, which consisted of some feasible teaching methods. These methods were applied to Basic English Writing classes investigated in the present study. They were dictionary-consulting activities, team discussions (brainstorming as a team), sentence-making activities in which signal words were used, and team writing activities, in order to improve the student’s writing skills and his or her vocabulary size. Test instruments included a pretest (pre-class questionnaires) and a posttest (a midterm writing test). Targeted students were Chinese non-English majors taking Basic English Writing (BEW) classes. The students in the treatment group performed better in the posttest than those in the control group. Moreover, the students, who failed to get into the habit of consulting English dictionaries, did not perform better than those consistently consulting English dictionaries. It seems that the experimental course structure may facilitate university students’ learning of how to write in English.

    Surface anesthesia of the small incision cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation

    AIM: To observe the effect of cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation with manual small incision cataract surgery under surface anesthesia in the Primary Hospitals.<p>METHODS: Totally, 372 eyes of 358 cataract cases, in our hospital from January 2010 to March 2013, underwent cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation with manual small incision cataract surgery under surface anesthesia. Intraoperative pain, postoperative complications and visual acuity were observed.<p>RESULTS: In the process of surgery, patients without pain and being-cooperated were recorded in 342 eyes(91.9%), that occasionally felt slight pain, but within endure and the operation was completed successfully were recorded in 17 eyes(4.6%). There were 13 eyes quit, 8 eyes(2.2%)of them because of the intolerable pain, the other 5 eyes(1.3%)of the ceaseless movement of the eye. The best corrected visual acuity on the 3<sup>rd</sup> day after operation of 4.0~4.5 were observed in 57 eyes(15.9%), 4.5~4.8 in 213 eyes(59.3%), above 4.8 in 89 eyes(24.8%).<p>CONCLUSION: The cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation with manual small incision cataract surgery under surface anesthesia can avoid corresponding complications, reduce the operation time obviously and ensure better quality of operation. It's suitable to carry out the prevention and treatment of blindness at the Primary Hospitals

    Development of a compact DFB laser interferometer for high-speed inline displacement measurement

    A compact fiber laser interferometer, capable of precise displacement measurements, was devised using a 1550 nm DFB laser for frequency modulation up to 300 kHz. The system comprises a fiber laser, a fiber-optic interferometer, and a wavelength modulation system. The presented method offers nanometer-scale precision and incorporates a hydrogen cyanide (HCN) gas cell for monitoring the laser's central wavelength. A technique to compensate for modulation depth has been developed to maintain a consistent modulation depth over extensive measurement ranges. Preliminary trials reveal a measurement bias of less than 40 nm achieved over a 300 mm range at a speed of 100 mm/s compared to a calibrated interferometer. This approach proves beneficial for high-precision measurements for inline semiconductor manufacturing processes
