Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite

As China's first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band (1-250 keV) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 MeV. It was designed to perform pointing, scanning and gamma-ray burst (GRB) observations and, based on the Direct Demodulation Method (DDM), the image of the scanned sky region can be reconstructed. Here we give an overview of the mission and its progresses, including payload, core sciences, ground calibration/facility, ground segment, data archive, software, in-orbit performance, calibration, background model, observations and some preliminary results.Comment: 29 pages, 40 figures, 6 tables, to appear in Sci. Insight-HXMT observations of Swift J0243.6+6124 during its 2017-2018 outburst

The recently discovered neutron star transient Swift J0243.6+6124 has been monitored by {\it the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope} ({\it Insight-\rm HXMT). Based on the obtained data, we investigate the broadband spectrum of the source throughout the outburst. We estimate the broadband flux of the source and search for possible cyclotron line in the broadband spectrum. No evidence of line-like features is, however, found up to 150 keV\rm 150~keV. In the absence of any cyclotron line in its energy spectrum, we estimate the magnetic field of the source based on the observed spin evolution of the neutron star by applying two accretion torque models. In both cases, we get consistent results with B∼1013 GB\rm \sim 10^{13}~G, D∼6 kpcD\rm \sim 6~kpc and peak luminosity of >1039 erg s−1\rm >10^{39}~erg~s^{-1} which makes the source the first Galactic ultraluminous X-ray source hosting a neutron star.Comment: publishe

International audienceThis paper analyses the statements of video imaging, CT, infrared thermography and radiography applied in the road nondestructive testing, and design a path planning mobile robot with GPS positioning which can remarkably increase the efficient of road nondestructive testing. Besides, appropriate algorithm for nondestructive testing on the road autonomous mobile robot path planning is given. This method is simplicity, versatility, and efficiency. The mobile robot are selected for example and the simulation results represent the effectiveness of this method

Research on Vehicle Swing Model based on Road Structure: Driving Safety and Comfort

    No full text
The vehicle swing is a major factor on driving safety and comfort, while the acceleration noise is exactly a description of vehicle swing. Thus, acceleration noise can be a good evaluation indicator of driving safety and comfort. First, the vehicle forces are analyzed in three dimensions, and six vehicle swing models (VSMs) are established based on different road structure by combining acceleration noise theory. Then, the time discrete method is used to further discretize these models for easy calculation and application in practice projects. Finally, a large number of simulation experiments are performed with appropriate roads. The simulation results show that curvature radius, ramp angle, and superelevation slope angle are the major influence factors to driving safety and comfort. This paper not only provides mathematic expression in driving safety and comfort evaluation, but also has certain reference to the geometric design during the design of new highway

Urban Expressway Travel Time Prediction Method Based on Fuzzy Adaptive Kalman Filter

    No full text
Abstract: According to the poor adaptive ability of traditional filter algorithm in the estimation for traffic state and travel time with Kalman filter, an improved fuzzy adaptive Kalman filtering method was proposed. The new interest of observation noise was defined, and the fuzzy logic was used to adjust the importance weights of system noise and observation noise through on-line monitoring the interest changes, which changed the trust and utilization degree of the model for the observation information, and this made the filter eventually tend to be stable. To guarantee the real-time performance of system, a direct input- output fuzzy membership function matching method was put forward to take the place of fuzzy reasoning. The method was tested on the urban expressway in Guangzhou by using real-time detection data, and the result show that the traffic state estimation model had better tracking ability than conventional Kalman filter, and results of travel time prediction show that there was a slight difference between the prediction value and that of actual observation in free traffic flow state, and the relative error was under 15 % in traffic congested state. The precision and applicability of this method were acceptable, and it can be used to provide a basis for travel time of urban expressway in traffic control and guidance system

Assessment of Sustainable Livelihood and Geographic Detection of Settlement Sites in Ethnically Contiguous Poverty-Stricken Areas in the Aba Prefecture, China

The Chinese government aims to deal with poverty by 2020 for people living in ethnic and rural regions, including mountainous ethnic regions with the highest concentration of poverty and chronic poverty. Based on a sustainable livelihood Framework, five capitals and 33 evaluation indices of livelihood were built, and 13 counties’ resources of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture were compared in order to calculate the degree of poverty. Topographic factors index of settlement sites (TFIS) were constructed by eight topographic factors, and diagnoses of the dominant factors of differentiation of 2699 settlements were calculated by using the geographical detector model to establish the poverty alleviation policies and models for different regions. The results showed that the livelihood capital evaluation indices were different (0.56–1.88), and natural capitals (mean value 1.56) had obvious advantages, but physical (mean value 0.56), financial (mean value 0.78), and human capital were lower (mean value 0.93), limiting the rate of transforming the ecological resources advantage into the economy. In the TFIS, the settlement points indicate topographic factors of natural breakpoint classification superposition, including elevation, slope, relief amplitude, surface incision, variance coefficient in elevation, surface roughness, distance to roads, and distance to rivers. These are within the 8–34 range, and their power determinant value to TFIS are 0.02, 0.70, 0.77, 0.76, 0.51, 0.66, 0.06, and 0.09. Livelihood capital evaluation indices and TFIS classification one (8–14) are positively correlated, and negative correlation (22–26 and 27–34) is at the 0.05 level. The county's poverty alleviation measures and development under different livelihood indices and TFIS indicate that the ecotourism industry has become the inevitable choice for promoting rapid and coordinated development of economy, society, and the environment in ethnic regions

Labyrinth pattern in a decagonal quasicrystal

    No full text
The unique properties of quasicrystals are closely related with their complex crystal structures and microstructures. Here, we report the labyrinth structures of decagonal quasicrystal in Al68Cr26Si6, which is scarcely found in quasicrystals. An electron microscopic study of as-cast Al68Cr26Si6 shows a structure of quasiperiodic nanodomains with overall decagonal diffraction symmetry. The quasiperiodic nanodomains are separated by a labyrinthine pattern of edge-connected structural building blocks shaped like squashed (fat) hexagons. The arrangement of the domain walls resembles that of ferroelectric or magnetic domain structures, although these are of different origin and on different scales. By annealing Al68Cr26Si6 at 1,223 K, the domain wall density is strongly increased and appears to be arranged periodically in a specific way.ISSN:2666-386
