    Scaling behavior of online human activity

    The rapid development of Internet technology enables human explore the web and record the traces of online activities. From the analysis of these large-scale data sets (i.e. traces), we can get insights about dynamic behavior of human activity. In this letter, the scaling behavior and complexity of human activity in the e-commerce, such as music, book, and movie rating, are comprehensively investigated by using detrended fluctuation analysis technique and multiscale entropy method. Firstly, the interevent time series of rating behaviors of these three type medias show the similar scaling property with exponents ranging from 0.53 to 0.58, which implies that the collective behaviors of rating media follow a process embodying self-similarity and long-range correlation. Meanwhile, by dividing the users into three groups based their activities (i.e., rating per unit time), we find that the scaling exponents of interevent time series in three groups are different. Hence, these results suggest the stronger long-range correlations exist in these collective behaviors. Furthermore, their information complexities vary from three groups. To explain the differences of the collective behaviors restricted to three groups, we study the dynamic behavior of human activity at individual level, and find that the dynamic behaviors of a few users have extremely small scaling exponents associating with long-range anticorrelations. By comparing with the interevent time distributions of four representative users, we can find that the bimodal distributions may bring the extraordinary scaling behaviors. These results of analyzing the online human activity in the e-commerce may not only provide insights to understand its dynamic behaviors but also be applied to acquire the potential economic interest

    Analysis of RIG-I-mediated innate immune response in rats with Kidney-Yang Deficiency Syndrome and its change following Yougui pill administration

    Kidney-Yang Deficiency Syndrome (KYDS) is closely bound up with the immune response of immunocompromised patients. The study is to investigate whether retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-I)-mediated innate immune responseparticipates in the development of KYDS in rats and evaluate the effect of Yougui pill (YGP) on the response in KYDS rats. KYDS rats were induced by intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone at the dose of 10 mg/kg/d for 15 days. YGP at concentrations of 2.43 g/kg/d and 4.86 g/kg/d were administered intragastrically to KYDS rats for 30 days. The resultsshowed that the body weight, urinary 17-hydroxycorticosteroid (17-OHCS) level, spleen size and spleen index in KYDS rats were significantly decreased compared with healthy control rats, while YGP treatment reversed them towards normal level in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, KYDS challenge not only strikingly increased the mRNA and protein expression levels of RIG-I, tripartite motif containing 25 (TRIM25), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) but alsomarkedly enhanced the endogenous RIG-I polyubiquitination levels. Whereas, YGP treatment effectively reversed this tendency in a dose-dependent manner. In conclusion, these findings revealed that RIG-I-mediated innate immune response was closely bound up with the development of KYDS. And YGP exhibited certain anti-inflammatory effects on KYDS rats via inhibiting the RIG-I-mediated innate immune response

    Selective Knowledge Distillation for Non-Autoregressive Neural Machine Translation

    Benefiting from the sequence-level knowledge distillation, the Non-Autoregressive Transformer (NAT) achieves great success in neural machine translation tasks. However, existing knowledge distillation has side effects, such as propagating errors from the teacher to NAT students, which may limit further improvements of NAT models and are rarely discussed in existing research. In this paper, we introduce selective knowledge distillation by introducing an NAT evaluator to select NAT-friendly targets that are of high quality and easy to learn. In addition, we introduce a simple yet effective progressive distillation method to boost NAT performance. Experiment results on multiple WMT language directions and several representative NAT models show that our approach can realize a flexible trade-off between the quality and complexity of training data for NAT models, achieving strong performances. Further analysis shows that distilling only 5% of the raw translations can help an NAT outperform its counterpart trained on raw data by about 2.4 BLEU
