Research of the active reflector antenna using laser angle metrology system

Active reflector is one of the key technologies for constructing large telescopes, especially for the millimeter/sub-millimeter radio telescopes. This article introduces a new efficient laser angle metrology system for the active reflector antenna of the large radio telescopes, with a plenty of active reflector experiments mainly about the detecting precisions and the maintaining of the surface shape in real time, on the 65-meter radio telescope prototype constructed by Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology (NIAOT). The test results indicate that the accuracy of the surface shape segmenting and maintaining is up to micron dimension, and the time-response can be of the order of minutes. Therefore, it is proved to be workable for the sub-millimeter radio telescopes.Comment: 10 pages, 15 figure

Synthesis and characterization of 2-(2-benzhydrylnaphthyliminomethyl)pyridylnickel halides: formation of branched polyethylene

A series of 2-(2-benzhydrylnaphthyliminomethyl)pyridine derivatives (L1–L3) was prepared and used to synthesize the corresponding bis-ligated nickel(II) halide complexes (Ni1–Ni6) in good yield. The molecular structures of representative complexes, namely the bromide Ni3 and the chloride complex Ni6, were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction, and revealed a distorted octahedral geometry at nickel. Upon activation with either methylaluminoxane (MAO) or modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO), all nickel complex pre-catalysts exhibited high activities (up to 2.02 × 10⁷ g(PE) mol⁻¹(Ni) h⁻¹) towards ethylene polymerization, producing branched polyethylene of low molecular weight and narrow polydispersity. The influence of the reaction parameters and the nature of the ligands on the catalytic behavior of the title nickel complexes were investigated

Gender Differences in Internet Use: A Logistic Regression Analysis

In today’s higher education, Internet technologies play increasingly essential roles in creating, storing, and disseminating information and knowledge. This study investigates gender differences in Internet usage patterns and perceptions of Internet technologies using data gathered from 805 business students. A three-variable logistic regression model is assessed in terms of the overall model fit, as well as the direction of variable association and its magnitude among the research variables. It is found that gender differences of business students do exist in terms of Internet usage patterns and perceptions of Internet technologies. Such differences are reflected in perceptions of Internet self-efficacy, experience, and information overload. Our findings indicate that the gender neutrality among business students in the Internet era is yet to be a social reality. Research implications and methodological issues of logistic analysis are also discussed

Radioprotective effect and other biological benefits associated with flavonoids

Ionizing radiation has the potential to cause extensive damage to living organisms. It can directly act on DNA, proteins and lipids, resulting in ionizing excitation and chemical bond cleavage, which can lead to molecular and cellular damage. Ionizing radiation can hydrolyze water molecules in the body, resulting in increased numbers of free radicals with strong oxidation ability. This process indirectly leads to tissue degeneration and necrosis, which can possibly result in cancer. In this paper, the intervention mechanism of flavonoids on ionizing radiation was analyzed. It has been revealed that the intervention mechanism associated with flavonoids may offer protective properties for DNA, prevent scavenging free radicals, and protect against auto-immune damage. In addition, this invention mechanism can protect the hematopoietic system and reduce inflammationKeywords: Ionizing radiation, Flavonoids, Radioprotective mechanisms, Molecular and cellular damage, DNA, Hematopoietic system, Inflammatio
