Anti-Hyperon polarization in high energy pp collisions with polarized beams

    Get PDF
We study the longitudinal polarization of the Sigma_bar and Xi_bar anti-hyperons in polarized high energy pp collisions at large transverse momenta, extending a recent study for the Lambda_bar anti-hyperon. We make predictions by using different parametrizations of the polarized parton densities and models for the polarized fragmentation functions. Similar to the Lambda_bar polarization, the Xi_bar0 and Xi_bar+ polarizations are found to be sensitive to the polarized anti-strange sea in the nucleon. The Sigma_bar- and Sigma_bar+ polarizations show sensitivity to the light sea quark polarizations, \Delta \bar u(x) and \Delta \bar d(x), and their asymmetry.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figures, version to appear in PR

The Work-Study Experience Of Indigenous Undergraduates In Taiwan

    Get PDF
Due to the large number of universities in Taiwan and the increased availability of scholarships for disadvantaged students, the number of college students from indigenous families has been on the rise in recent years. However, many indigenous students still find it necessary to work part-time. In this study, indigenous students were interviewed to determine how they choose part-time jobs and the influence such work has on their grades, health, and careers. Based on the results, suggestions are provided for improving the work-study experience of indigenous students

What Kind Of International Interchange Is Beneficial? Experiences Of Taiwanese Indigenes

    Get PDF
Because of globalization, international interchanges among indigenes in every country have become more frequent. Influenced by international multicultural trends, Taiwan’s government not only supports indigenous populations to revive their traditional cultures, but also encourages the promotion of the international interchange activities among indigenous populations. This research focused on specialists familiar with indigenous relative affairs to evaluate the benefits and the order of international interchanges. A self-developed questionnaire was used and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and descriptive statistics were employed to measure the relative importance of the factors and international strategies chosen by the indigene affair specialists, respectively. The correspondence analysis aims to explore the relationship between the goal and strategy of indigenous international interchanges. Finally, based on the findings and discussion, some suggestions are provided for promoting indigenes’ international interchanges

When Traditional Ethnic Culture Encounters Gender Equality: The Dilemma Of Multicultural Education

    Get PDF
In recent years, the government of Taiwan has been actively promoting gender equality, the positive results of which are already apparent among the younger generation. This research examines the views of indigenous girls attending secondary school with respect to the gender divide in their traditional culture, whether or not they support the concept of gender equality, and how their career plans are associated with their gender perceptions. Data were collected through participant observation and group interviews. The results indicate that female aboriginals of higher socio-economic standing are becoming less constrained by traditional gender limitations. Although their traditional culture may run counter to the ideology of gender equality, in reality many are learning how to draw on the wisdom of their traditional culture without adopting the concept of masculine domination
