    Deterministic Dense Coding and Faithful Teleportation with Multipartite Graph States

We also find the sufficient and necessary condition of a viable graph state for the proposed scheme.     An Economy-wide Analysis of Impacts of WTO Tiered Formula for Tariff Reduction on Taiwan

    In this study we use Taiwan as a case study to provide an economy-wide analysis of impacts on Taiwan of WTO tariff reduction schemes with different combinations of thresholds and reduction rates. The model we utilized in this study is Taiwan General Equilibrium Model with a WTO module (TAIGEM-WTO, hereafter) that is a multi-sectoral computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of the Taiwan's economy derived from Australian ORANI model (Dixon, Parmenter, Sutton and Vincent, 1982). Simulation results show that results are more sensitive to the scheme of tariff-reduction (i.e., Category 1, 2, and 3) than the tiered levels (i.e., A, B, C, and D) and as a strategy we should pay more attention to the arguments related to the amounts of tariff-reduction. Moreover, changes in nominal average tariff rates are more sensitive and shocks to the economy are more severe when we change the tariff reduction categories rather than the tiered levels. This conclusion also applies to the tiered reduction case when only sensitive products are considered. Finally, simulations with sector's bound rate calculated using arithmetic means have bigger effects than those using import values as weights.     Rods and Rings: Soft Subdivision Planner for R^3 x S^2

    We consider path planning for a rigid spatial robot moving amidst polyhedral obstacles. Our robot is either a rod or a ring. Being axially-symmetric, their configuration space is R^3 x S^2 with 5 degrees of freedom (DOF). Correct, complete and practical path planning for such robots is a long standing challenge in robotics. While the rod is one of the most widely studied spatial robots in path planning, the ring seems to be new, and a rare example of a non-simply-connected robot. This work provides rigorous and complete algorithms for these robots with theoretical guarantees. We implemented the algorithms in our open-source Core Library. Experiments show that they are practical, achieving near real-time performance. We compared our planner to state-of-the-art sampling planners in OMPL [Sucan et al., 2012]. Our subdivision path planner is based on the twin foundations of epsilon-exactness and soft predicates. Correct implementation is relatively easy. The technical innovations include subdivision atlases for S^2, introduction of Sigma_2 representations for footprints, and extensions of our feature-based technique for "opening up the blackbox of collision detection"

    Effect of Acupressure on Nausea, Vomiting, Anxiety and Pain among Post-cesarean Section Women in Taiwan

    The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of acupressure for controlling post-cesarean section (CS) symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting, anxiety perception and pain perception. A total of 104 eligible participants were recruited by convenience sampling of operating schedules at two hospitals. Participants assigned to the experimental group received acupressure, and those assigned to the control group received only postoperative nursing instruction. The experimental group received three acupressure treatments before CS and within the first 24 hours after CS. The first treatment was performed the night before CS, the second was performed 2-4 hours after CS, and the third was performed 8-10 hours after CS. The measures included the Rhodes Index of Nausea and Vomiting, Visual Analog Scale for Anxiety, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Visual Analog Scale for Pain, and physiologic indices. Statistical methods included percentages, mean value with standard deviation, t test and repeated measure ANOVA. The use of acupressure reduced the incidence of nausea, vomiting or retching from 69.3% to 53.9%, compared with control group (95% confidence interval = 1.65-0.11; p = 0.040) 2-4 hours after CS and from 36.2% to 15.4% compared with control group (95% confidence interval = 0.59-0.02; p = 0.024) 8-10 hours after CS. Results indicated that the experimental group had significantly lower anxiety and pain perception of cesarean experiences than the control group. Significant differences were found in all physiologic indices between the two groups. In conclusion, the utilization of acupressure treatment to promote the comfort of women during cesarean delivery is strongly recommended

    Serum ferritin levels and polycystic ovary syndrome in obese and nonobese women

    AbstractObjectiveThe aim of this study is to evaluate serum ferritin levels and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-related complications in obese and nonobese women.Materials and methodsThis retrospective study included 539 (286 with PCOS and 253 without PCOS).ResultsSerum ferritin correlated with menstrual cycle length, sex hormone-binding globulin, total testosterone, androstenedione, triglyceride, and total cholesterol in both obese and nonobese women. Obese women with high ferritin levels exhibited higher insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, and liver enzymes (glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvic transaminase) than obese women with low ferritin levels. However, among nonobese women, insulin resistance and risk of diabetes were not significantly different between the high and low ferritin groups. Independent of obesity, hypertriglyceridemia was the major metabolic disturbance observed in women with elevated serum ferritin levels.ConclusionElevated serum ferritin levels are associated with increased insulin resistance and risk of diabetes in obese women but not in nonobese women. However, higher serum ferritin levels were correlated with a greater risk of hyperglyceridemia in both obese and nonobese women. Therefore, hypertriglyceridemia in women with PCOS might be associated with iron metabolism

    A CONJOINT STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WEBSITE ATTRIBUTES AND CONSUMER PURCHASE INTENTIONS

    This paper extends and modifies the Schaupp and Belanger model (2005) to develop and propose a model of on-line shopping intentions. Four on-line websites were designed as the test platforms. Respondents of this study were asked to visit these web-sites that represent differing shopping scenarios before they completed our on-line survey. Findings of this study are as follows. First, on-line contract signing mechanism was ranked as the most desired option in building trust in on-line shopping websites by all respondents. Second, respondents of this study were found able to be categorized into three groups according to the website factors they valued most. The three were logistic/security, security/trust, and convenience/trust. The specific attributes of on-line shopping websites valued most within each of the three groups are discussed in this paper. This study presents findings that support the use of many existing on-line technologies that have been found little used in on-line shopping websites such as digital certificate and on-line contracting. The inclusion of these technologies in on-line shopping websites may increase the cost of building and maintaining them and may create worries about user inconvenience. However, it is important that these technologies increase the attractiveness of the on-line shopping website and web surfers purchase intentions
