Twistor Spaces for QKT Manifolds
We find that the target space of two-dimensional (4,0) supersymmetric sigma
models with torsion coupled to (4,0) supergravity is a QKT manifold, that is, a
quaternionic K\"ahler manifold with torsion. We give four examples of
geodesically complete QKT manifolds one of which is a generalisation of the
LeBrun geometry. We then construct the twistor space associated with a QKT
manifold and show that under certain conditions it is a K\"ahler manifold with
a complex contact structure. We also show that, for every 4k-dimensional QKT
manifold, there is an associated 4(k+1)-dimensional hyper-K\"ahler one.Comment: 25 pages, phyzz
Multi-angle Five-Brane Intersections
We find new solutions of IIA supergravity which have the interpretation of
intersecting NS-5-branes at -angles on a string preserving at least 3/32
of supersymmetry. We show that the relative position of every pair of
NS-5-branes involved in the superposition is determined by four angles. In
addition we explore the related configurations in IIB strings and M-theory.Comment: 18 pages, phyzzx; reference added; version to appear in PL
Kappa-symmetric SL(2,R) covariant D-brane actions
A superspace formulation of IIB supergravity which includes the field
strengths of the duals of the usual physical one, three and five-form field
strengths as well as the eleven-form field strength is given. The
superembedding formalism is used to construct kappa-symmetric SL(2,R) covariant
D-brane actions in an arbitrary supergravity background.Comment: 20 pages. Minor clarification in text. References adde
Noncommutative symmetric functions and Laplace operators for classical Lie algebras
New systems of Laplace (Casimir) operators for the orthogonal and symplectic
Lie algebras are constructed. The operators are expressed in terms of paths in
graphs related to matrices formed by the generators of these Lie algebras with
the use of some properties of the noncommutative symmetric functions associated
with a matrix. The decomposition of the Sklyanin determinant into a product of
quasi-determinants play the main role in the construction. Analogous
decomposition for the quantum determinant provides an alternative proof of the
known construction for the Lie algebra gl(N).Comment: 25 page
Multiplicity, Invariants and Tensor Product Decomposition of Tame Representations of U(\infty)
The structure of r-fold tensor products of irreducible tame representations
of the inductive limit U(\infty) of unitary groups U(n) are are described,
versions of contragredient representations and invariants are realized on
Bargmann-Segal-Fock spaces.Comment: 48 pages, LaTeX file, to appear in J. Math. Phy
Einstein-Weyl structures and Bianchi metrics
We analyse in a systematic way the (non-)compact four dimensional
Einstein-Weyl spaces equipped with a Bianchi metric. We show that Einstein-Weyl
structures with a Class A Bianchi metric have a conformal scalar curvature of
constant sign on the manifold. Moreover, we prove that most of them are
conformally Einstein or conformally K\"ahler ; in the non-exact Einstein-Weyl
case with a Bianchi metric of the type or , we show that the
distance may be taken in a diagonal form and we obtain its explicit
4-parameters expression. This extends our previous analysis, limited to the
diagonal, K\"ahler Bianchi case.Comment: Latex file, 12 pages, a minor modification, accepted for publication

AdS/SCFT in Superspace
A discussion of the AdS/CFT correspondence in IIB is given in a superspace
context. The main emphasis is on the properties of SCFT correlators on the
boundary which are studied using harmonic superspace techniques. These
techniques provide the easiest way of implementing the superconformal Ward
identities. The Ward identities, together with analyticity, can be used to give
a compelling argument in support of the non-renormalisation theorems for two-
and three-point functions, and to establish the triviality of extremal and
next-to-extremal correlation functions. The OPE in is also briefly discussed.Comment: 10 pages; talk given by PSH at 2nd Gursey Memorial Conference, June

BPS Solitons in M5-Brane Worldvolume Theory with Constant Three-Form Field
We study BPS solutions for a self-dual string and a neutral string in
M5-brane worldvolume theory with constant three-form field. We further
generalize such solitons to superpose with a calibrated surface. We also study
a traveling wave on a calibrated surface in the constant three-form field
background.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX, minor correction, added referenc
On superembedding approach to type IIB 7-branes
In search for a dynamical description of Q7-branes, which were known as
solutions of supergravity equations and then conjectured to be dynamical
objects of type IIB string theory, we study the superembedding description of
7-branes in curved type IIB supergravity superspace. With quite minimal and
natural assumptions we have found that there is no place for Q7-branes as
dynamical branes in superembedding approach. Our study might give implications
for the old-standing problem of the covariant and supersymmetric description of
multiple Dp-brane systems.Comment: LaTeX, 40 pages, no figures. V2: 44 pages, misprints corrected, minor
cosmetic changes, improvements and extensions of discussion, in particular in
the parts devoted to derivation of D7-brane equations of motion (Sec. 3) and

remain the same. V3. More misprints correcte
On duality symmetries of supergravity invariants
The role of duality symmetries in the construction of counterterms for
maximal supergravity theories is discussed in a field-theoretic context from
different points of view. These are: dimensional reduction, the question of
whether appropriate superspace measures exist and information about non-linear
invariants that can be gleaned from linearised ones. The former allows us to
prove that F-term counterterms cannot be E7(7)-invariant in D=4, N=8
supergravity or E6(6)-invariant in D=5 maximal supergravity. This is confirmed
by the two other methods which can also be applied to D=4 theories with fewer
supersymmetries and allow us to prove that N=6 supergravity is finite at three
and four loops and that N=5 supergravity is three-loop finite.Comment: Clarification of arguments and their consistency with higher
dimensional divergences added, e.g. we prove the 5D 4L non-renormalisation
theorem. The 4L N=6 divergence is also ruled out. References adde
