Window on Higgs Boson: Fourth Generation bb^\prime Decays Revisited

Direct and indirect searches of the Higgs boson suggest that 113 GeV mH\lesssim m_H \lesssim 170 GeV is likely. With the LEP era over and the Tevatron Run II search via ppˉWH+Xp\bar p \to WH+X arduous, we revisit a case where WHWH or ZH+ZH + jets could arise via strong bbˉb^\prime\bar b^\prime pair production. In contrast to 10 years ago, the tight electroweak constraint on tt^\prime--bb^\prime (hence tt^\prime--tt) splitting reduces FCNC bbZb^\prime\to bZ, bHbH rates, making bcWb^\prime\to cW naturally competitive. Such a "cocktail solution" is precisely the mix that could evade the CDF search for bbZb^\prime\to bZ, and the bb^\prime may well be lurking below the top. In light of the Higgs program, this two-in-one strategy should be pursued.Comment: 4 pages, RevTex, 4 eps figures, One more figure, version to be published in Phys. Rev.

An alternative non-Markovianity measure by divisibility of dynamical map

Identifying non-Markovianity with non-divisibility, we propose a measure for non-Markovinity of quantum process. Three examples are presented to illustrate the non-Markovianity, measure for non-Markovianity is calculated and discussed. Comparison with other measures of non-Markovianity is made. Our non-Markovianity measure has the merit that no optimization procedure is required and it is finite for any quantum process, which greatly enhances the practical relevance of the proposed measure.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figue

Evolution of the single-hole spectral function across a quantum phase transition in the anisotropic-triangular-lattice antiferromagnet

We study the evolution of the single-hole spectral function when the ground state of the anisotropic-triangular-lattice antiferromagnet changes from the incommensurate magnetically-ordered phase to the spin-liquid state. In order to describe both of the ground states on equal footing, we use the large-N approach where the transition between these two phases can be obtained by controlling the quantum fluctuations via an 'effective' spin magnitude. Adding a hole into these ground states is described by a t-J type model in the slave-fermion representation. Implications of our results to possible future ARPES experiments on insulating frustrated magnets, especially Cs2_2CuCl4_4, are discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure

System Restoration Navigator: A decision support tool for System Restoration

    Get PDF
Power system restoration is well recognized as an important task to reduce the duration of a disturbance that occures in power systems. The complex tasks of emergency recovery require advanced decision support tools to enhance the resilience and, utimately, self-healing capabilities for a smart grid. A piece of software entitled “System Restoration Navigator” (SRN) has been developed based on the Generic Restoration Milestones (GRMs) concept, with the support of EPRI during the last two years. This paper addresses the development and functionality of SRN. Firstly, the basic philosophy of GRMs is introduced. Secondly, the functionality of SRN and integration of SRN with EPRI Operator Training System (OTS) are demonstrated. Thirdly, the Power and Light (PALCO) system is used to illustrate the general restoration plan and concrete restoration actions under a blackout scenario. It is believed that the development of SRN and its integration with OTS is a major step towards the on-line decision-making for system restoration.published_or_final_versio
