U svijet Rima Siscija ulazi u 2. st. pr. Kr.

Famous picture depicting a girl picking frowers from Stabiae has been an object of discussion for years. She is probably copy of an original dating c. 330. BC and represents Persephone picking flowers immediately before Pluto abducted her

    Generalized autoregressive conditional correlation

This paper develops a generalized autoregressive conditional correlation (GARCC) model when the standardized residuals follow a random coefficient vector autoregressive process. As a multivariate generalization of the Tsay (1987, Journal of the American Statistical Association 82, 590-604) random coefficient autoregressive (RCA) model, the GARCC model provides a motivation for the conditional correlations to be time varying. GARCC is also more general than the Engle (2002, Journal of Business & Economic Statistics 20, 339-350) dynamic conditional correlation (DCC) and the Tse and Tsui (2002, Journal of Business & Economic Statistics 20, 351-362) varying conditional correlation (VCC) models and does not impose unduly restrictive conditions on the parameters of the DCC model. The structural properties of the GARCC model, specifically, the analytical forms of the regularity conditions, are derived, and the asymptotic theory is established. The Baba, Engle, Kraft, and Kroner (BEKK) model of Engle and Kroner (1995, Econometric Theory 11, 122-150) is demonstrated to be a special case of a multivariate RCA process. A likelihood ratio test is proposed for several special cases of GARCC. The empirical usefulness of GARCC and the practicality of the likelihood ratio test are demonstrated for the daily returns of the Standard and Poor's 500, Nikkei, and Hang Seng indexes

Pharmacy student perceptions of pharmacist prescribing: A comparison study

    Get PDF
Several jurisdictions throughout the world, such as the UK and Canada, now have independent prescribing by pharmacists. In some areas of Canada, initial access prescribing can be done by pharmacists. In contrast, Australian pharmacists have no ability to prescribe either in a supplementary or independent model. Considerable research has been completed regarding attitudes towards pharmacist prescribing from the perspective of health care professionals, however currently no literature exists regarding pharmacy student views on prescribing. The primary objective of this study is to examine pharmacy studentā€™s opinions and attitudes towards pharmacist prescribing in two different settings. Focus groups were conducted with selected students from two universities (one in Canada and one in Australia). Content analysis was conducted. Four main themes were identified: benefits, fears, needs and pharmacist roles. Students from the Australian University were more accepting of the role of supplementary prescribing. In contrast, the Canadian students felt that independent prescribing was moving the profession in the right direction. There were a number of similarities with the two groups with regards to benefits and fears. Although the two cohorts differed in terms of their beliefs on many aspects of prescribing, there were similarities in terms of fears of physician backlash and blurring of professional roles

Sustainable mechanochemical synthesis of Ī²-cyclodextrin polymers by twin screw extrusion

Cyclodextrin nanosponges (CD-NS) are cross-linked cyclodextrin polymers characterized by a nanostructured three-dimensional network. CD-NSs in the last years found many different applications in the pharmaceutical field for the controlled release of drugs and for the absorption of undesired substances from physiological media, food, and wastewater. Most of CD-NS syntheses involve the solubilization of the chosen CD in closed batch, using a suitable organic polar aprotic liquid, which may affect potential environmental or biomedical applications. Since the research is now moving towards more sustainable approaches, new and greener syntheses of CD-NS are now being developed. Here, it is reported a new eco-friendly and efficient synthesis of nanosponges through mechanochemistry. Mechanochemistry involves the application of mechanical forces to drive and control chemical reactions by transferring energy to chemical bonds. The mechanochemical approach involves the use of a twin-screw extruder (TSE) as a chemical reactor: TSE are capable of fine temperature control and, furthermore, TS Extrusion is a continuous process and not a batch process. Among the many available CD-NS syntheses, we tested our solvent-free approach on a Ī²-CD/citric acid (CA) system. Moreover, using TSE, the same polymer was obtained in a considerably shorter time. The so obtained NSs were used for the adsorption and removal of probe molecules, in comparison with NSs prepared by cross-linking Ī²-CD with CA in batch.
