    Prediction-error of Prediction Error (PPE)-based Reversible Data Hiding

    This paper presents a novel reversible data hiding (RDH) algorithm for gray-scaled images, in which the prediction-error of prediction error (PPE) of a pixel is used to carry the secret data. In the proposed method, the pixels to be embedded are firstly predicted with their neighboring pixels to obtain the corresponding prediction errors (PEs). Then, by exploiting the PEs of the neighboring pixels, the prediction of the PEs of the pixels can be determined. And, a sorting technique based on the local complexity of a pixel is used to collect the PPEs to generate an ordered PPE sequence so that, smaller PPEs will be processed first for data embedding. By reversibly shifting the PPE histogram (PPEH) with optimized parameters, the pixels corresponding to the altered PPEH bins can be finally modified to carry the secret data. Experimental results have implied that the proposed method can benefit from the prediction procedure of the PEs, sorting technique as well as parameters selection, and therefore outperform some state-of-the-art works in terms of payload-distortion performance when applied to different images.Comment: There has no technical difference to previous versions, but rather some minor word corrections.     Graph Prompt Learning: A Comprehensive Survey and Beyond

    Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has revolutionized numerous fields, yet its integration with graph data, a cornerstone in our interconnected world, remains nascent. This paper presents a pioneering survey on the emerging domain of graph prompts in AGI, addressing key challenges and opportunities in harnessing graph data for AGI applications. Despite substantial advancements in AGI across natural language processing and computer vision, the application to graph data is relatively underexplored. This survey critically evaluates the current landscape of AGI in handling graph data, highlighting the distinct challenges in cross-modality, cross-domain, and cross-task applications specific to graphs. Our work is the first to propose a unified framework for understanding graph prompt learning, offering clarity on prompt tokens, token structures, and insertion patterns in the graph domain. We delve into the intrinsic properties of graph prompts, exploring their flexibility, expressiveness, and interplay with existing graph models. A comprehensive taxonomy categorizes over 100 works in this field, aligning them with pre-training tasks across node-level, edge-level, and graph-level objectives. Additionally, we present, ProG, a Python library, and an accompanying website, to support and advance research in graph prompting. The survey culminates in a discussion of current challenges and future directions, offering a roadmap for research in graph prompting within AGI. Through this comprehensive analysis, we aim to catalyze further exploration and practical applications of AGI in graph data, underlining its potential to reshape AGI fields and beyond.     Salvianolic Acid B Prevents Arsenic Trioxide-Induced Cardiotoxicity In Vivo and Enhances Its Anticancer Activity In Vitro

    Clinical attempts to reduce the cardiotoxicity of arsenic trioxide (ATO) without compromising its anticancer activities remain to be an unresolved issue. In this study, we determined whether Sal B can protect against ATO-induced cardiac toxicity in vivo and increase the toxicity of ATO toward cancer cells. Combination treatment of Sal B and ATO was investigated using BALB/c mice and human hepatoma (HepG2) cells and human cervical cancer (HeLa) cells. The results showed that the combination treatment significantly improved the ATO-induced loss of cardiac function, attenuated damage of cardiomyocytic structure, and suppressed the ATO-induced release of cardiac enzymes into serum in BALB/c mouse models. The expression levels of Bcl-2 and p-Akt in the mice treated with ATO alone were reduced, whereas those in the mice given the combination treatment were similar to those in the control mice. Moreover, the combination treatment significantly enhanced the ATO-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis of HepG2 cells and HeLa cells. Increases in apoptotic marker cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase and decreases in procaspase-3 expressions were observed through western blot. Taken together, these observations indicate that the combination treatment of Sal B and ATO is potentially applicable for treating cancer with reduced cardiotoxic side effects

    Cationic polymeric nanoformulation: Recent advances in material design for CRISPR/Cas9 gene therapy

    Abstract(#br)CRISPR/Cas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat/clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat associated proteins 9) gene editing platform is a promising therapeutic tool for genetic disorders, due to its ability to manipulate the pathogenic gene in genomic level and to easily target specific gene by manipulating single-guide RNA. However, its successful delivery remains a challenge. Up to now, great efforts have been made to explore an effective strategy for CRISPR/Cas9 delivery. But among those delivery methods, physical methods are mainly operated on cultured cells thus limited to laboratorial use; viral vectors are hindered by fetal immunogenic and carcinogenic effects thus dubious in clinical application. Therefore, cationic polymeric vectors, with the ability to interact with CRISPR/Cas9 system to form a nanoformulation as a non-viral approach, are attracting increasing attentions, due to advantages such as well protection of cargos, less limitation in payload size, low immunogenicity or carcinogenicity, potential modifications for further functions, and ease in mass production. In this review, the recent discoveries on polymeric vectors utilized in delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 system will be summarized. With emphasis on advanced features of those polymeric vectors or their nanoformulations to meet the demands of different CRISPR/Cas9 delivery forms (plasmid, mRNA or protein), the detailed illustrations on their disease treatment applications, such as cancer, diabetes or antibiotic-resistant infections, will also be reviewed
