    Emotional competence

    No full text
Emotional competence (EC) refers to individual differences in the way people identify, understand, express, regulate and use their own emotions and those of others. Research has shown that the level of EC is a significant determinant of crucial aspects of life: mental health and well-being, physical health, interpersonal relationships, and work performance. Although individual differences in EC show stability over time, intra-individual changes are observed. First, except emotion utilization, all EC improves slightly but naturally with age until approximately 70 years old. Second, EC can improve in response to EC training
