Upper estimate of martingale dimension for self-similar fractals
We study upper estimates of the martingale dimension of diffusion
processes associated with strong local Dirichlet forms. By applying a general
strategy to self-similar Dirichlet forms on self-similar fractals, we prove
that for natural diffusions on post-critically finite self-similar sets
and that is dominated by the spectral dimension for the Brownian motion
on Sierpinski carpets.Comment: 49 pages, 7 figures; minor revision with adding a referenc
Photoinduced coherent oscillations in the one-dimensional two-orbital Hubbard model
We study photoinduced ultrafast coherent oscillations originating from
orbital degrees of freedom in the one-dimensional two-orbital Hubbard model. By
solving the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation for the numerically exact
many-electron wave function, we obtain time-dependent optical response
functions. The calculated spectra show characteristic coherent oscillations
that vary with the frequency of probe light. A simple analysis for the dominant
oscillating components clarifies that these photoinduced oscillations are
caused by the quantum interference between photogenerated states. The
oscillation attributed to the Raman-active orbital excitations (orbitons)
clearly appears around the charge-transfer peak.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Utilisation of Coffee Grounds for Total Mixed Ration Silage
In the beverage industry, wastes from coffee grounds are of particular importance given their rapid increase in recent years. Although a small part is converted into raw compost material, wastes generated from tea grounds are generally incinerated. There is increasing demand for efficient use of by-products due to economic and environmental concerns. Approximately 200,000 t of coffee grounds are produced annually in Japan. These grounds usually have high protein, fat, fibre, and nitrogen-free extract and possibly could be a source of nutrients for ruminant (Xu et al., 2004). The objectives of this study were to evaluate the fermentation characteristics of silages prepared from coffee grounds mixed with various feeds and their nutritive values with sheep
Application of a New Inoculant “Chikuso-1” for Silage Preparation of Forage Paddy Rice
Forage paddy rice is currently one of the most important silage crops in Japan. In fact, the use of paddy rice culture for silage production has been steadily increasing in recent years, not only because this represents a new way towards achieving self-sufficiency in animal feed, but also because of the interest of combining crop cultivation and livestock farming as a more effective use of idle paddy fields that often remain unused. However, the preparation of quality silage from paddy rice and its long-term storage are often challenging (Cai et al., 1999, 2003). In this study, a new bacterial inoculant was developed and its application for silage preparation of forage paddy rice was examined
Pulsed UCN production using a Doppler shifter at J-PARC
We have constructed a Doppler-shifter-type pulsed ultra-cold neutron (UCN)
source at the Materials and Life Science Experiment Facility (MLF) of the Japan
Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). Very-cold neutrons (VCNs) with
136- velocity in a neutron beam supplied by a pulsed neutron
source are decelerated by reflection on a m=10 wide-band multilayer mirror,
yielding pulsed UCN. The mirror is fixed to the tip of a 2,000-rpm rotating arm
moving with 68- velocity in the same direction as the VCN. The
repetition frequency of the pulsed UCN is and the time width
of the pulse at production is . In order to increase the UCN
flux, a supermirror guide, wide-band monochromatic mirrors, focus guides, and a
UCN extraction guide have been newly installed or improved. The
-equivalent count rate of the output neutrons with longitudinal
wavelengths longer than is ,
while that of the true UCNs is . The spatial density at
production is . This new UCN source enables us to
research and develop apparatuses necessary for the investigation of the neutron
electric dipole moment (nEDM).Comment: 32 pages, 15 fugures. A grammatical error was fixe
