The Rock Hill Historical Marker booklets cover events that helped shape both Rock Hill and the country. The February 11, 2006 historical marker covers Country and Gospel music recordings in the Andrew Jackson Hotel, the important artists who recorded at the hotel, and the influence of illustrator Vernon Grant on Rock Hill. The January 27, 2007, September 6, 2007, and November 30, 2007 historical markers discuss the “sit-ins” that occurred at popular lunch counters in Rock Hill such as McCrory’s, the “Friendship Nine”, the development of the Rock Hill Cotton Factory along with its creators, and also the development of the Citizen’s Building, US Post Office, the Courthouse, and downtown Rock Hill. Rock Hill Aerial Photographs - Accession 1711

This collection consists of seven aerial photographs of Rock Hill, SC that were originally hanging on the walls of Flint Realty & Construction Company located at 1835 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill. President of the company was Robert Harry Flint, Sr. (1931-2011). This collection consists of the records of the Optimist Club of Rock Hill which was founded in 1948 and chartered by Optimist International on January 15, 1949. The Optimist Club of Rock Hill “provides funds through charitable activities to assist the youth of Rock Hill in a number of programs.” The organization sponsors scholarship essays and oratorical contests for youth. White Family Photograph Collection - Accession 717

The White Family Photograph Collection consists of four photograph albums with photographs taken by J. S. White of Rock Hill, SC of family members, friends, vacations, Rock Hill, SC, and of Winthrop from 1896-1899. One of the albums includes pictures from J.S. White’s tour of duty in the South Carolina Infantry during the Spanish American War. Also included are loose photographs collected of the family that depict local scenes including Rock Hill school classes, homes, Winthrop College, Rock Hill parades, Rock Hill downtown, James Spratt White, Jr. during the Spanish American War, J.S. Rock Hill Architectural and Historic District Surveys - Accession 1710

This collection consists of a City of Rock Hill Architectural and Historic District Surveys conducted to help determine the architectural and historical significance of districts, sites, objects, buildings, and other structures in Rock Hill and possible inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. The collection consist of a Survey Report, Rock Hill South Carolina Architectural and Historical Inventory and Mill Supplement from 1988, a City of Rock Hill Historical Resources Survey Update from August 2004, South Carolina Historical Markers in York County, 1936-Present from 2009, and an Arcade Mill Village Historic District Survey Report from 2015. These surveys are a great source for anyone interested in the history and growth of Rock Hill, SC. Harris Williams Collection - Accession 1234

The C. Harris Williams Collection consists of newspaper clippings and photographs pertaining to the 1952 Rock Hill Centennial Celebration. C. Harris Williams (1912-1960) was a Rock Hill, SC resident, owner of the Williams Gulf Station in Rock Hill, and was a member of the Brothers of the Brush. Most of the photographs in the collection are of Mr. Williams and fellow members of the Brothers of the Bush participating in the 1952 Rock Hill Centennial events and include images of skits, parades, Rock Hill citizens, and Rock Hill Main Street and Downtown. There is also an original photograph of a cotton scene on Main Street in Rock Hill in the early 1900s (possibly 1911). Degree of Pocahontas, Rock Hill Chapter Records - Accession 1681

This collection consists of the records produced by and for the Rock Hill Chapter of the Degree of Pocahontas which is the female auxiliary of the Improved Order of Red Men. The records in the collection consists of a ledger containing minutes, rosters, and other information, correspondence, applications, reports, and checks related mostly to the Rock Hill, SC female auxiliary, Tepee of Alletah Council, No. 17, Degree of Pocahontas, but some of the records also relate to the Wigwam of Calumet Tribe, No. 36, Improved Order of Red Men, Rock Hill Chapter. Both of the organizations were created solely for white men and women and remained segregated until 1974. Carlisle Photography Studio Collection - Accession 1712

This collection consists of photographs of the Rock Hill area from the early 20th century taken mostly by Marion Carlisle (1859-1940) who operated the Carlisle photography Studio in Rock Hill SC and several taken by his daughter Ora Lee Carlisle (1902-1969). The photographs include several scenes of the 1901 flood, 1903 train wreck, 1916 flood, and the 1926 tornado that struck Rock Hill.
