Multicarrier Approaches for High-Baudrate Optical-Fiber Transmission Systems with a Single Coherent Receiver

In this paper, we show the remarkable timing error (TE) and residual chromatic dispersion (CD) tolerance improvements of the filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) over orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for high-baudrate spectral slicing transmitter and single coherent receiver transmissions. For a 512 Gb/s 16 quadrature amplitude modulated (16QAM) spectrum slicing system at 1600 km of fiber transmission, the FBMC-based system reduces TE and residual CD penalties by more than 1.5 dB and 3 dB, in comparison to the OFDM-based system, respectively

m6A-related lncRNAs predict prognosis and indicate cell cycle in gastric cancer

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is a common epigenetic methylation modification of RNA, which plays an important role in gastric carcinogenesis and progression by regulating long non-coding RNA (lncRNA). This study is aimed to investigate the potential prognostic signatures of m6A -related lncRNAs in STAD.Methods: The m6A-related lncRNAs with the most significant impact on gastric cancer prognosis in the TCGA database were identified by bioinformatics and machine learning methods. The m6A-related lncRNA prognostic model (m6A-LPS) and nomogram was constructed by Cox regression analysis with the minimum absolute contraction and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm. The functional enrichment analysis of m6A-related lncRNAs was also investigated. The miRTarBase, miRDB and TargetScan databases were utilized to establish a prognosis-related network of competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by bioinformatics methods. The correlation of AL391152.1 expressions and cell cycle were experimentally testified by qRT-PCR and flow cytometry.Results: In total, 697 lncRNAs that were identified as m6A-related lncRNAs in GC samples. The survival analysis showed that 18 lncRNAs demonstrated prognostic values. A risk model with 11 lncRNAs was established by Lasso Cox regression, and can predict the prognosis of GC patients. Cox regression analysis and ROC curve indicated that this lncRNA prediction model was an independent risk factor for survival rates. Functional enrichment analysis and ceRNA network revealed that the nomogram was notably associated with cell cycle. qRT-PCR and flow cytometry revealed that downregulation of GC m6A-related lncRNA AL391152.1 could decrease cyclins expression in SGC7901 cells.Conclusion: A m6A-related lncRNAs prognostic model was established in this study, which can be applied to predict prognosis and cell cycle in gastric cancer

The global/local (limited to some regions) effect of cesarean delivery on the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BackgroundAllergic rhinitis is a chronic and refractory disease that can be affected by a variety of factors. Studies have shown an association between cesarean section and the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis.MethodsThe PubMed, Springer, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were searched to retrieve all studies published from January 2000 to November 2022, focusing on the relationship between cesarean section and the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis. A meta-analysis was conducted to find a correlation between cesarean section and the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis. A subgroup analysis was performed, considering the region and family history of allergy, after adjusting for confounding factors. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) were calculated, publication bias was assessed using a funnel plot, and heterogeneity between study-specific relative risks was taken into account.ResultsThe results showed that cesarean section was significantly associated with an increased risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis (OR: 1.27, 95% CI: 1.20–1.35). Subgroup analysis stratified by region indicated that cesarean section increased the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis, with the highest increase in South America (OR: 1.67, 95% CI: 1.10–2.52) and the lowest in Europe (OR: 1.13, 95% CI: 1.02–1.25). The results of the subgroup analysis stratified by family history of allergy indicate that family history of allergy was not associated with the risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis.ConclusionAn association exists between cesarean section as the mode of delivery and the increased risk of pediatric allergic rhinitis, and cesarean section is a risk factor for allergic rhinitis

Some Iterative Methods for Solving Equilibrium Problems and Optimization Problems

We introduce a new iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of solutions of the equilibrium problems, the set of solutions of variational inequality for a relaxed cocoercive mapping, and the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some recent results of Ceng and Yao (2008), Yao (2007), S. Takahashi and W. Takahashi (2007), Marino and Xu (2006), Iiduka and Takahashi (2005), Su et al. (2008), and many others.</p
