Does Motor Development Influence Language Development?
The emergence of language in infants is one of biggest achievements in their first two years of life. At the present, there is a great deal of information available regarding the precursors that influence the onset of language in both typically and atypically developing children. It is commonly acknowledged that achievements in cognitive development during these stages of life widely influence the emerging language system. However, one of the other precursors that require additional attention is motor development. The implications that this system has on future language development is something that needs further consideration in the study of both typically and atypically developing populations with deficits in these areas
Dynamic Fracture in Single Crystal Silicon
We have measured the velocity of a running crack in brittle single crystal
silicon as a function of energy flow to the crack tip. The experiments are
designed to permit direct comparison with molecular dynamics simulations;
therefore the experiments provide an indirect but sensitive test of interatomic
potentials. Performing molecular dynamics simulations of brittle crack motion
at the atomic scale we find that experiments and simulations disagree showing
that interatomic potentials are not yet well understood.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, 19 reference
Brewery financial and cost statements
Increase in competition and operating costs has made the question of production and sources of profit important in the development of business. That accounting statements present the book-value of resources and the amount of profit or loss is interesting but this does not give the management data that will show unprofitable or underdeveloped business. The weakness with some present brewery-systems is the failure to charge all items of department production at cost, the profit or loss statements being meaningless as a basis for future business development. With the rapid increase in bottling production, the knowledge of accurate departmental production and overhead costs is necessary for the proper development of this business. That it forms the basis for a selling price is valuable but an economic relation exists between the cost of brewing per barrel and increased output. A thorough knowledge of production costs is necessary to definitely establish this relation. The sample statements shown in the charts on the following pages provide for separate analytical costs for the brewery, keg department, bottling department and agencies. The figures purposely do not represent any actual operating conditions, being for illustration only
The effect of feed composition on the sensory quality of organic rainbow trout during ice storage
The aim of this work was to study whether the type of protein and lipid source in feed for organic Rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) influenced the sensory quality. The protein sources were fishmeal and a matrix of organic vegetable plant mealsproteins, while the lipid sources were fish oil and organic oils of linseed, sunflower, rapeseed and grape seed, respectively. Sensory profiling was performed after 3, 5, 7 and 14 days of storage in ice. Besides sensory analysis also lipid profiles weare measured. The resultsed showed that the lipid type in the feed aeffected the sensory characteristics after 3 days of storage. Especially the trout that had grape seed oil in the feed had a different sensory profile than the trout that had fish oil in the feed. These differences could be explained by the lipid profiles in the fillets. Also after 7 days of ice storage differences in the sensory profile wereas observed again as a result of the used lipid types used. After 7 days of ice storage ThusHere the trout that had grape seed oil orand rapeseed oil for instance had a more neutral flavor and odor profile compared to the other trout fed on linseed or sunflower oil´s. After 14 days of storage no effect of lipid type in the feed was observed, but the trout which had fish meal as protein source had higher intensity of several negative sensory descriptors compared to trout that had the vegetable protein matrix. Overall the results showed that the dietaryfeeds content of protein and lipid aeffecteds the sensory characteristics of the trout in different ways during the ice storage period
escola.Organização, execução e patrocínio: UNILA e Itaipu-Paraguay - Parceria: NELOOL/UFSC & Universidad de VIG
