Construction Industry (CI) is considered as the backbone of a country’s economy. Despite the fact, it experiences high fragmentation and reduced productivity, delays, cost overruns and lack of innovation from the start till the end of a project. It has been identified that material deliveries often affect productivity at site therefore this study focuses on the development of Automated Materials Supply (AMS). Supply chain in construction being automated presents a feasible solution to late material deliveries and cost and time overruns on a project by proposing a framework for information transfer by using primavera schedule and OPEN AI among stakeholders of the project to avoid material overruns on-site and reducing human effort. The result of this study leads to the development of a framework that executes the information transfer among various stakeholders of a project to automate the material delivery process

This study analyzes ten districts of the province Punjab of Pakistan to investigate and compare the vulnerability of selected districts. Total Three sub-groups (socio-economic variables, adaptive capacity, bio-physical variables) are generated by using the data from Pakistan Social & Living Standard Measurement Survey (PSLM) and Pakistan Meteorological Department of the years 2014-15, to calculate total vulnerability. Using primary variables at the district level, this study determines each district’s rural and urban areas' total vulnerability score. The results show that few districts, e.g., Rawalpindi has 0.74 total vulnerability score out of 1, are highly vulnerable compared to other districts despite having a better socio-economic situation. On the other hand, few districts, like Multan, have a low vulnerability to climate change and socio-economic factors. Keywords: CO2, socio-economic, bio-physical, environment, Vulnerability. JEL Classification Codes: Q3, O13, P28

Introduction: The use of plants as medicine is as old as chemistry and common to all societies including the African, notably some parts of Northern Nigeria. Infectious diseases are among the causes of mortality and morbidity in rural areas endemic with hygienic problems in most developing countries including Nigeria. Two plant species with similar ethnomedical reports from different families were used in this study against some microorganisms. Their phytochemicals were also evaluated. Methods: The leaf samples of Punica granatum and Waltheria indica were prepared and independently extracted with 80% methanol using maceration technique. The extracts were concentrated to dryness at reduced pressure and then subjected to phytochemical evaluation. Antimicrobial activities were evaluated using hole-in-plate disc diffusion technique. Results: The phytochemical results of both extracts revealed the absence of anthraquinones. However, both extracts showed the presence of cardenolides, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and terpenoids; while alkaloids were found in W. indica. The antimicrobial susceptibility study showed dose-dependent pattern with the highest dose (80 mg/hole) showing inhibition zone of 23.67±0.47 and 23.33±0.47 mm, respectively by P. granatum and W. indica against Streptococcus pyogenes while at 20 mg/hole inhibition was noted as 8.67±0.47 and 7.00±0.00 mm against Escherichia coli for P. granatum and W. indica, respectively. Conclusion: The findings of this study scientifically support the use of P. granatum and W. indica in folklore medicine for the cure of infections by microbes

OBJECTIVES To determine the effect of Epidural steroids on postoperative pain and hospital stay in patients having a single-level lumbar discectomy. METHODOLOGY A quasi-experimental study was conducted at the Neurosurgery department, Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex, Nowshera.  Sixty patients with a mean age of 40.3±9.21 years were enrolled. The enrolled patients were divided into two groups: Group A patients were given intraoperative epidural methylprednisolone 80 mg, while Group B patients were given only normal saline. Pre- and post-operative pain was assessed after 6 hours, 12 hours and at the discharge time from the hospital. The duration of hospital stay was also noted. RESULTSOut of 60 patients, 55.0% were male, and 45.0% were female, with an overall mean age of 40.3±9.21 years. The VAS score in Group A was 0.82±0.26 compared to 2.30±0.71 in group B (P <0.000). And at first follow-up, the VAS score was 0.13±0.05 and 1.25±0.33 in groups A and B, respectively.   The length of hospital stay was 1.39±0.44 and 1.98±2.50 in groups A and B, respectively. CONCLUSION Intra-operative epidural steroid is beneficial in reducing post-operative pain and hospital stay

OBJECTIVES The study aims to determine the outcome of the WALANT technique for Carpal Tunnel Release CTR.METHODOLOGY A descriptive study was done in the Neurosurgery department at Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex, Nowshera, from 15th September 2020 to 15th March 2021. A total of 29 consecutive patients of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) were undergoing carpal tunnel release (CTR) under wide awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) technique, using a mixture of lidocaine and epinephrine for local anaesthesia, and the outcome was assessed for patient satisfaction by Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) (symptom severity scales (SSS)) at pre-operatively and six weeks postoperatively.RESULTSWide awake CTR was done in 29 patients; 86.2% were female and 13.8% male. The mean age was 47.3 years. The average time of return to daily activity was three weeks. No complications were noted, like wound infection and dehiscence. BCTQ symptom (BCTQ-S) score significantly improved at six weeks postoperatively. 86% significantly reduced the symptom severity score (SSS). Mean SSS improved from preoperative 3.2 points to 1.7 points postoperatively. There was a significant decrease in distal latencies (p <0.01).   CONCLUSIONWide awake surgery is an excellent technique with favourable outcomes and good satisfaction rates for CTR. The study shows that clinical symptoms resolve rapidly after CTR. Without the need for monitored anaesthesia, the cost could decrease dramatically
