Renormalized Coupled Cluster Approaches in the Cluster-in-Molecule Framework: Predicting Vertical Electron Binding Energies of the Anionic Water Clusters (H2O)n–
Anionic water clusters are generally considered to be extremely challenging to model using fragmentation approaches due to the diffuse nature of the excess electron distribution. The local correlation coupled cluster (CC) framework cluster-in-molecule (CIM) approach combined with the completely renormalized CR-CC(2,3) method [abbreviated CIM/CR-CC(2,3)] is shown to be a viable alternative for computing the vertical electron binding energies (VEBE). CIM/CR-CC(2,3) with the threshold parameter ζ set to 0.001, as a trade-off between accuracy and computational cost, demonstrates the reliability of predicting the VEBE, with an average percentage error of ∼15% compared to the full ab initio calculation at the same level of theory. The errors are predominantly from the electron correlation energy. The CIM/CR-CC(2,3) approach provides the ease of a black-box type calculation with few threshold parameters to manipulate. The cluster sizes that can be studied by high-level ab initio methods are significantly increased in comparison with full CC calculations. Therefore, the VEBE computed by the CIM/CR-CC(2,3) method can be used as benchmarks for testing model potential approaches in small-to-intermediate-sized water clusters
First Observation of
We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Upsilon(1S)
resonance collected with the CLEO-II detector operating at CESR. We present the
first observation of the radiative decays Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi+pi- and
Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi0pi0. For the dipion mass regime m(pipi)>1.0 GeV, we
obtain Br(Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi+pi-=(6.3+/-1.2+/-1.3) x 10^(-5), and
Br(Upsilon(1S)->gamma pi0pi0=(1.7+/-0.6+/-0.3) x 10^(-5). The observed gamma
pipi events are consistent with the hypothesis Upsilon(1S)->gamma f2(1270).Comment: 9 pages, postscript file also available through

Update of the Search for the Neutrinoless Decay
We present an update of the search for the lepton family number violating
decay using a complete CLEO II data sample of 12.6 million
pairs. No evidence of a signal has been found and the
corresponding upper limit is \BR(\tau \to \mu\gamma) < 1.0 \times 10^{-6}
at 90% CL, significantly smaller than previous limits. All quoted results are
preliminary.Comment: 9 pages postscript, also available through

Further Search for the Two-Photon Production of the Glueball Candidate
The CLEOII detector at the Cornell e+ e- storage ring CESR has been used to
search for the two-photon production of the decaying into pi+ pi-.
No evidence for a signal is found in data corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of 4.77/fb and a 95% CL upper limit on of 2.5 eV is set. If this result is combined with the BES Collaboration's
measurement of in radiative decay, a 95% CL
lower limit on the stickiness of the of 73 is obtained. If the
recent CLEO result for \Gamma_{two-photon} * BR{\K_S K_S} is combined with
the present result, the stickiness of the is found to be larger
than 102 at the 95% CL. These results for the stickiness (the ratio of the
probabilities for two-gluon coupling and two-photon coupling) provide further
support for a substantial neutral parton content in the .Comment: 8 pages, postscript file also available through

Study of 3-prong Hadronic Decays with Charged Kaons
Using a sample of 4.7/fb integrated luminosity accumulated with the CLEO-II
detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we have measured the
branching fractions of the tau lepton into and relative to and relative to . The relative branching fractions are: (5.16+-0.20+-0.50)*,
(1.52+-0.14+-0.29)*, (2.54+-0.44+-0.39)* and at 95%
C.L., respectively. Coupled with additional experimental information, we use
our results to extract information on the structure of three-prong tau decays
to charged kaons.Comment: 16 pages postscript file also available through

Measurement of the Partila Width and Form Factor Parameters
We have studied the decay , where . From a fit to the differential decay rate we measure the
rate normalization and form factor slope
, and, using measured values of , find . The resulting branching
fractions are and .
The form factor parameters are in agreement with those measured in decays, as predicted by heavy quark effective theory.Comment: 11 pages, postscript file also available through

Flavor-Specific Inclusive B Decays to Charm
We have measured the branching fractions for B -> D_bar X, B -> D X, and B ->
D_bar X \ell^+ \nu, where ``B'' is an average over B^0 and B^+, ``D'' is a sum
over D^0 and D^+, and``D_bar'' is a sum over D^0_bar and D^-. From these
results and some previously measured branching fractions, we obtain Br(b -> c
c_bar s) = (21.9 3.7)%, Br(b -> s g) K^-
\pi^+) = (3.69 0.20)%. Implications for the ``B semileptonic decay
problem'' (measured branching fraction being below theoretical expectations)
are discussed. The increase in the value of Br(b -> c c_bar s) due to eliminates 40% of the discrepancy.Comment: 12 page postscript file, postscript file also available through

Search for the Decay
We have searched for the decay of the tau lepton into seven charged particles
and zero or one pi0. The data used in the search were collected with the CLEO
II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) and correspond to an
integrated luminosity of 4.61 fb^(-1). No evidence for a signal is found.
Assuming all the charged particles are pions, we set an upper limit on the
branching fraction, B(tau- -> 4pi- 3pi+ (pi0) nu_tau) < 2.4 x 10^(-6) at the
90% confidence level. This limit represents a significant improvement over the
previous limit.Comment: 9 page postscript file, postscript file also available through

Tau Neutrino Helicity from Energy Correlations
We report a measurement of the magnitude of the tau neutrino helicity from
tau-pair events taken with the CLEO detector at the CESR electron-positron
storage ring. Events in which each tau undergoes the decay tau -> h nu, with h
a charged pion or kaon, are analyzed for energy correlations between the
daughter hadrons, yielding |xi| = 2*|h_nu| = 1.03 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.04, with the
first error statistical and the second systematic.Comment: 11 pages, postscript file also available through
